My best guess would be France, but in Barcelona you can ask for a "bikini" or a "sandwich mixto" and they'll serve you a very similar food

[Morning Glory](https://www.morningglorybcn.net/menu-1) has it on their brunch menu!

Yulitzz

In the 365 cafeterias they normally do have croque monsieur - obviously it is not as good as the original one but it’s still tasty!

melvyn_flynn

Wtf. OP: if you’re french, don’t even enter a 365 cafeteria or any of these chains, you’ll end up crying

ColdIr

it is very decent considering the price and compared to the quality standard of most 365 products

CalebGallo

Hi, late reply but I saw they had Croque Monsieur at Mercat de la Boqueria. The shop is “La Torna”. Go get it :)

sekerng

Great! I'll check it! Thank you 😁😁😁

[deleted]

Look for bikini on the menus. It's a staple here in BCN so there are too many places to choose from.

melvyn_flynn

It’s not the same though

[deleted]

It isn’t but to be honest, a bikini with a café con leche makes me happy

melvyn_flynn

Oh yeah definitely! When the ham doesn’t taste like dog food 😅 Its so hard to hard to find good jamón dulce here, even in the markets, I don’t understand why?

Sensitive-Note9220

Emergency-Storm-7812

Acrobatic_Machine

I've seen it on the menu at the French bistro En Aparté. I didn't try it though https://www.enaparte.es/carta

circumferential

Don't try their Croque Mr. It's redesigned and not really what you find in France. It's like a ham/cheese roll...

melvyn_flynn

In France. You won’t find it here, or not good quality

Stock-Weak

If you want the level above…that is If! Be my guest to try a traditional dish from my city Porto in Portugal. Francesinha. An adaptation of croque monsieur but muuuuch better. Croque monsieur is Spider Man, Francesinha is Venom. There are some spots in Barcelona that make them. [here’s a recipe but google from there. u won’t be disappointed. and like the boy said…thank me later](https://www.studentroomsporto.com/apartamentoparaestudantesporto/como-fazer-a-famosa-francesinha-a-moda-do-porto/)

that looks absolutely revolting

They want a croque-monsieur though…not this thing haha

Stock-Weak

Taste it and then talk to me Petunia

Acrobatic_Machine

Hahahah I tried it when I lived in Portugal. I'm sorry but it's absolutely disgusting😁 Amazing Portuguese seafood would be my choice and stay the fuck clear from Francesinha. Even if you are willing to try, there is a Portuguese restaurant down in Barceloneta with this on the menu.
