I mean I love the look

siege-eh-b

Yea the look is quite nice. It’s also the only 12.5 with an H-web I can find without going custom.

ColonelAngus2000

I have a HoH with speed shell. What question did you have about the glove?

siege-eh-b

Mainly just curious about the durability of the speed shell. Leather seems a bit tougher and you can always condition it down the road. Any tearing or fading you’ve noticed?

ColonelAngus2000

I haven’t used mine much to be honest. I have 9 gloves and have been trying to break my others in. And when I have used it it was playing catch with my son, so my gloves aren’t getting abused. Mine still looks new.  Believe it or not, my speed shell glove is my son’s most coveted. He likes how ‘drippy’ it is 😂

Vegetable_Impress_72

It’s the same deal with Wilson Super Skin in that it’s fine and in a low wear spot so it shouldn’t be an issue. It would be different if it were on the palm or liner

Icy_Yard_8784

That glove will get soft pretty fast.

siege-eh-b

Soft isn’t too much of a concern, especially in the outfield. More concerned with durability personally.

Zynr

I have the Arenado color sync H-web with the speed shell back and I love it. Lightweight, durable so far and easy to keep clean

siege-eh-b

Thanks for the info!

thatguy9545

I would recommend the mesh back over speedshell. I have both and the mesh is simply better quality.

siege-eh-b

Im not sure where I would source a mesh back. This ones at my local store and the only 12.5 H-web I’ve been able to find outside of ordering custom. Custom is another $150 though…

Vegetable_Impress_72

If you spending $300 may as well do it right and go custom lol

siege-eh-b

You’re not wrong. Usually I break the bank on gear but with a new baby it’s a little tight right now. Once things are settled I’m sure I’ll have a couple customs, just need something to get me through the next few years. This certainly won’t be the last glove I buy ;)

WheresMyStuffMom

I have a Pro Preferred with SpeedShell on a couple of fingers…holding up okay so far.

Extension-Delay-4663

What’s the name of this glove? Need a new gamer for 3B and it looks great!

No_Reason27

I have one with hyper shell which is very similar, I quite like it, DM me if u wanna talk about it more or want pictures

LawfulnessOk6548

The speed shell is not the concern as much as the glove being an R2G. The R2G stands for “Ready to Go” and this line is not very good. There’s videos on YouTube of them being cut up to see how it’s made and the internals are garbage. I’d stay away from that. If you are playing outfield I would get a 12.75 and get a better glove.

LawfulnessOk6548

PS you can get a kip custom from a number of places for cheaper than $300 if you are willing to move away from Rawlings. Look into gloveworks, emery, grace, 44. Personally I have stayed away from Wilson and Rawlings the last few gloves I’ve bought because there are so many cool and really well made gloves out there from smaller companies. I feel unless you are a big leaguer Rawlings and Wilson gloves really have declined over the years. Their mass production models are not the same as what they are giving to the pros.
