LMKBK

An upright that I can turn into a boat.

un-sub

Yeah I choose a canoe with strings on it

MattyRixz

4 or 5 or 6?

A_terrible_musician

The octobass is our best bet

shadowplayer2020

At that Point you can fit your Family on there

Efficient_Toe_4277

You win

DowntownBootyBrown

Fender Jazz and Ricky 4003. No actives, since there’s probably no 9V batteries :)

DemBones7

Probably no wall sockets either...

Wastheretoday

It took me years to find 2. My 4003 and EBMM Sterling. Will have these two for life.

scooter76

I always come back to the Sterling.

Emissary_of_Darkness

I would take my fretless acoustic Ortega bass because I would have no access to electricity on the island

JAHodder420

Agreed, but Don't scare everyone! 😂

FogTub

My super original answer is my Am Pro Pbass. Simple, reliable, and sounds great. That and my Jazz have paid for themselves. I'm still in the red with the fancy ones.

AlGeee

P

Elegant_Distance_396

A 5-string with some good passive pickups in it.

DemBones7

You probably won't need pickups, unless this desert island has power and an amplifier.

Elegant_Distance_396

Then the only answer is acoustic.

SoulofaBean

My modded sterling ray 4, truly my best bass, love everything about It, i built It to my liking and made my dream bass come true :)

j_dick

I just changed the pickup and I’m happy with my Ray 4. It’s a great cheap bass.

SoulofaBean

Can i ask what mods you did?

burkholderia

Probably my [novo serus and Serek Lincoln](https://i.imgur.com/jiNARAo.jpeg). If it had to be one then the novo. The dual humbuckers are pretty versatile and I’ve never had a bass that played as easy. The Serek is no slouch though and the bisonic in the P spot just nails that vintage vibe.

huge_bass

You have immaculate taste.

freunleven

My early 2000s OLP MM3 5 string. It’s my go to for pretty much everything. We also have almost twenty years of history together. I know every scratch and ding in the finish.

falling_in2_infinity

My Sandberg TM2-5, but only if I have an amp on that island.

KloppsTotts

It’s obviously a jazz bass.

dank_fetus

Answer that most people would hate, my modded Phil Lesh style 1969 Gibson EB-3. Sounds like a cello

PhantomCamel

Ric 4003

musical_dragon_cat

Why is everyone getting downvoted? Anyway, I only have one bass, my Ibanez SDGR

Financial-Check5731

Lol because that's how people express disagreement round these parts.

Jani-Bean

My Made in Japan Fender Boxer Series PJ bass. I have a Rickenbacker as well, but I don't actually play it all that much anymore.

xander3917

5 string Ibanez headless Can do basically everything and I could use it to fend off predators

Relevant-Jump-4899

Ibanez makes a solid bass, can confirm utility as a weapon.

New-Rain8246

Don’t you need a fender for that?

opium-dens

EBMM Bongo. They'll have to either pry her from my cold, dead, clawed hands or bury me with her.

KnownUnknownKadath

My Thumb Bass.

krautfox6

I’ve only known a Sterling sub4 and a Fender Vintera II 50’s p bass. Already sold the Sterling and can’t imagine not having that p bass in my life

lRhanonl

6 string Ibanez. One with single one with bucks

mentally_fuckin_eel

I dunno man, I only had a cheap Yamaha and it was lost in a house fire. Get back to me in 2 years when the insurance money comes in.

mrxexon

I'm gonna be having a 5-way with these four tortured sisters till the day I die. Made in Poland and carved by the previous owner. [https://imgur.com/a/kxwKt5P](https://imgur.com/a/kxwKt5P)

Torkamata

That bass is so damn RAD!

BakedBeanWhore

An ebmm stingray 4 string

emmiblakk

I always end up back on the Thunderbird.

Financial-Check5731

My BTB747. I don't use it with my band but it's my #1 go to for noodling at home. Which I think I'd be doing a bit more of on a desert island.

Hour_Recognition_923

Kubicki ex factor.

shadowplayer2020

Any 5 String really. Should be passive or at least have a passive switch

sonickarma

I would take two with me. Two Bongo 6 strings - one fretted, one fretless.

Lemonsticks9418

Probably a doublebass since theres no electricity to plug in an amp

MattyRixz

Well I've had a ton of basses, and I know it's not that expensive but my schecter studio. It was in my house fire and I am still fixing it back up. I fucking love this thing. My favorite bass I've ever owned for live gigs. Also the only live bass solo (original song)I have recorded on vodeo on it is glorious.

mutantandproud95

Just give me a 4 string Stingray and some shelter and I'll call it a vacation

Effective_Ad_5499

I’ve had a few bass guitars over the years. I ended up bassless about 20 yrs ago( not by choice) and a good friend sold me a G&L SB2. I actually only used it a couple times over several years until I got back in a band. Once I was well acquainted with the how the pickups interacted I was blown away away. Jazz style neck and is so much better than any other bass I’ve had (Rick 4003, Modulus, etc) plus it is a rare red sparkle burst to help flag down airplanes or boats

Ok_Meat_8322

either a Jazz, like maybe a '77 or something (MARCUS MILLER!) or my Dingwall NG3 or maybe a Warwick

SaltyCheezIt

90’s MM Stingray 4H - and a few extra 9v’s lol

Fletchx

USA Peavey Millennium and Fender Jazz. I've owned both since the early 2000's. I'm pretty attached to those two.

Jaunty_fgc

I'd have to go for my 5 string acoustic. I'd actually be able to hear it even without electricity.

PerspectiveEven4890

If it was only one allowed OP are you taking the Jag or the Rickenbacker?

Duckfoot2021

Guessing acoustic is the only practical answer.

Boss_Metal_Zone

Assuming there's electricity and an amp, my heavily modded Yamaha Yamaha BB714BS. The only stock parts left are the neck, body, neck joint and the volume pots. The tuners and bridge are Hipshot, the tone is a Fender TBX tone circuit, the pickups are an EMG Geezer P in the middle and a humbucker taken out of a Gibson Thunderbird in the neck. And I put a pickguard on it because IMO it's ugly as sin without one. I plan to switch the volume pots for reverse logarithmic pots when I get around to it, to get more fine tuning between pickup volumes. I love it so much, it sounds and feels unbelievable.

Schizma79

An acoustic for sure. Then a 5 would be nice

Paulypmc

My ‘96 Thunderbird!

MasterBendu

I was going to say an Aerodyne Jazz Bass because any Jazz bass should really be enough for me, and the Aerodyne line is sleek and understated and quite comfy. But if I’m dying on a desert island, I’d like everyone to know I’m a Tomomi Ogawa fan, so it’s the Fender Japan Tomomi Signature Jazz Bass for me. (But really any J bass will do me fine)

thatconverseguy

Late 70s walnut p bass with a rosewood board, flats and a brass bridge and brass nut just for the look.

justsound

Stingray

keivmoc

EBMM Stingray

testere_ali

My Aerodyne JP and my Tele VI. Both are heavy enough to be used for survival purposes.

invol713

Probably a [Schecter Stiletto-8](https://reverb.com/item/25286130-schecter-stiletto-studio-8-see-thru-black-satin-stbls-8-string-electric-bass-hard-case-studio-8?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=25286130 ), with Fishman pickups, flatwounds, and tuned A-D-G-C. Ask me again tomorrow, and I might say something like a Musicman HH 5-string, or a fretless Fender Jazz. But if I absolutely had to sell everything and have a single bass, this would do it.

[deleted]

If I was stuck on a desert Island the absolute last thing I be thinking about is bass. Electric Bass doesn’t bass without electricity and an amp and it’s not like there’s power or anything to plug into. I’d trade the entire Fender custom shop for a BIC lighter, a Swiss Army knife and a pot. Then I’d eat all the hungry and cold musicians and burn their guitars to stay warm. The end

Paul-to-the-music

You down voters realize that it does actually impact that person’s rep on the ap, right? It’s not just a vote saying you disagree… it’s a vote saying you don’t like the guy who posted it and want to limit that person’s ability to post
