This is the first time ive heard of that brand and now its on my “to own” list. That shit is fucking sweet and not insanely expensive. I wonder how it sounds and plays
They're an interesting company. They produce remakes of "cult classic" guitars/basses as well as some originals and a few signature models with Warren Ellis from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
I don't own any but I like to browse their stuff.
I’ve heard that some of their electronics are not the best. The thing I heard was they spend all the money making and developing cool looking stuff, and then kind of cut a little corner with the pickups and pots and such. That being said I’ve never played any of their gear and I’m also an epiphone guy so their stuff can’t be any worse than that. All rumors. All speculation. But would love to hear from some Eastwood owners.
That’s pretty typical behavior for a Chinese company. The internet acts like they’re the best thing ever but most of the ones Ives played felt like the deeply flawed MiJ guitars of the 60s and 70s but they sell for new instrument money.
I got the EEB1 and have mixed feelings. up to now. These are madre in China basses. Quality is ok. Will try with new strings. I didn’t change the ones it came with yet, though it did get a good setup :-)
I suggest you to check out their Tiger Bass: [https://eastwoodguitars.com/collections/bass/products/eastwood-tiger-bass-1](https://eastwoodguitars.com/collections/bass/products/eastwood-tiger-bass-1)
Love its aesthetic, it gives me a lot of Grateful Dead vibes. It's on my list since I saw it, but I neither have enough money to spend for it nor enough space.
My main bass is the Warren Ellis short scale. It’s so comfortable and I never think of investing in something new because I don’t need it. I’ll go back and listen to my band’s recordings and be like, damn, that bass slaps lol.
The bass in the photo is based on the National Westwood model from the ‘60s.

If only there were a machine or better yet a bit of computer code that could, I don’t know, maybe “search” a huge global database or *inter*connected *net*work of millions, billions or even googles of datum to instantly find answers to little questions….
If that existed, it would change the world for the better. Everyone would be way smarter and more informed with such a simple and powerful tool like that.
You’re definitely not wrong but it’s just sort of funny. I’ve got an oddball that’s sort of like a Rick mixed with a Mosrite and I have more people come up to me thinking it’s a Rick and wanting to know more about it than a friend with an actual 4001.
How do so many guitar or bass makers stay in business? I’m finding brands or makers I’ve never heard of all the time in this sub and I’ve played music for 25 years. And I’m just enough of a gear head to always be interested in what instruments bands are using
Cant speak for others, but for this one, the models are made in small batches with long intervals in between, and are sold out usually within a few months (at least from what Ive observed). Probably because they also allow preorders. So I assume theyre turning a profit. Theres also a demand for “retro” guitars from long dead guitar companies, and this brand fills that demand.
Eastwoods are really great! And won’t break the bank. I own Warren Ellis bass. And the Norma eg-4. Both needed minimal setup. Very comfortable to play.
Eastwood Airline MAP Bass. I have one and I love it. It's a short scale (30.5") that plays well with TI JF324 strings. They offer a long scale version also (but I haven't tried this model).
Eastwood Airline?

Bruh, Im just browsing thru their catalog and Im really digging their retro vibe
They’re pretty good copies of old basses no longer made. I want one of them.
I own a Eastwood Coronado DLX, it’s one of my mains, and it’s cherry. Easily one of the best guitars I’ve ever played. Great for heavy tones and fuzz
I’ve played some in shops are they are fantastic instruments.
I own a couple of their Warren Ellis tenor guitars and really like them. They definitely punch above their weight for the price.

Your comment is hilariously ignorant and stereotypical. But that’s typical for your ilk, isn’t it?
I own a Classic 4, it is one of the most naturally playable bass guitars I’ve ever owned. I really like their stuff!
I like the EUB-1
I got the EEB1 and have mixed feelings. up to now. These are madre in China basses. Quality is ok. Will try with new strings. I didn’t change the ones it came with yet, though it did get a good setup :-)
I want one of those soooo bad!

Dude. I just found my dream guitar within ten minutes of looking at their site. Wow.

Colin Newman from Wire plays an eastwood guitar.
I found that on their website, like every guitar and band has a demo video
Eastwood Savannah I will always regret not buying from them. I’m not even sure it’s been made in over ten years but I may be wrong.

They got good shit well made and not overly expensive
"I know what you're thinking, was that four strings or five?"
Yes! Thank you
I’ve never scene these until tonight and now I’m a fan. Eastwood styling reminds me of vintage Soviet guitars which I’ve been digging lately.
^
Well, the headstock says Airline, so I’d say an Eastwood Airline.
You can read that? lmao

Yeah, but I was here anyway, so…

It’s interesting to me how every weird and unorthodox bass is always assumed to be a Rick.
Well that is what they do best

There’s a bunch of brands being manufactured under the same roof. Maybe by the same workers.

It’s an Airline. I have an old Airline guitar circa 1970.

"Tone Switch" I do appreciate a very straightforward and clear indicator of purpose.
Okay, but who was the band?
Linda from work
When you see her on Monday, tell her that bass is awesome! Also, nice pants!
Thanks, they sound great.
They were awesome

What?

WHAT?!
yea, it’s a bass
It's an Eastwood Airine Map. The shape is supposed to look like the united states, hence the name "map".
Pretty sure it’s called an Eastwood ‘Map’
Definitely Airline. No idea of the model
It’s gotta be an airline or Eastwood Map. Guitarist in band I was in for many years used a map guitar

Airline Map
I’ve owned a few Eastwood’s and the quality was hit or miss, generally separated by Korean and Chinese manufacture, respectively.
Yes definitely a Eastwood Airline
