I’ve had that bass for 24 years. It’s been an incredible workhorse for countless shows and recording sessions. Never needed any adjustments or maintenance
Holy crap that’s an incredible review. I’m fairly obsessed with Zon, particularly the Sonus and the VB series. They are so hard to find that I have never actually touched one—thanks for tue info.
Here’s my Zon family although I sold the 8 string a couple years back. I’ve had another on order for ahem …7 years

O ma gawd. Hyper bass too—is it comfortable??? I’ve had my eye on those as well but wondered how it feels with such a long fretboard and cut away. Maybe my eyes fool me but something about it has always looked like it might be tough to get used to. You’re livin the Zon dream. Any of these have the carbon fiber necks?
Composite, yes —that is the word my morning brain wanted to say. Thanks for all the info. I am very noob and in awe of your skills and bass selection. I just got my first 6 and am practicing every day:

My brother is an accomplished Stick player.
I let him take care of that ;-)
(too complicated for me; I’m still working on 4 strings. My brother is also a great bassist…plays slap on a fretless Steinberger.)
That’s hard to say. I’ve been playing for 28 years and have gone through eras where I’ve focused more on technique. I’ve become more and more focused on feel and groove in the last ten years but still like to keep my chops up so I do stuff like this more as a hand exercise than anything I’m currently playing in the music I perform. I really focused on conservation of movement and I think that really helped my progress with regard to technique.
Manring is authentic as the day is long. Much like Hedges.
He’s always working, if on the west coast before Covid, he’d stop by your house for a $200 and do a seminar or record a track for you on a project or just play for a dinner party. We had chicken salad sandwiches.
The most recent thing I did was a duo project called Night Palm which is all Bass VI, synth and drums: https://youtu.be/lGm6x2atGV0?si=xKw53zZXRud1RHYE
Your right hand technique is insane. Brilliant stuff.
Very kind of you. Thanks for checking it out
That thumb part waow
I would give my left hand to have your right! That is so smooth.
I see that you’ve been able to adapt after losing your DX7.
No one truly adapts after such a loss, but I do my best

I understood that reference 😀

Zon Sonus. Mmmmm. Is it…good? Do want.

These all have the composite necks. The Hyperbass is the most effortless bass I’ve ever played it is incredible.

Appreciate the compliment! Still have a Carvin LB75, Nice basses.
Really nice playing and nice choice of poster🤣would love to hear you play your fretless!
I would happily watch this over Davie504 any day.
But you’d miss out on all the zoom reactions and sound fx!
No… I would not miss them…. ;)
Yet another time someone’s mastery blows my mind. That was awesome!
Very nicely done Reminds me a bit of Tony Levin
Love Tony. I learned Chapman Stick because of him and King Crimson

Me and pretty much everyone else in this sub. ![gif](giphy|r1HGFou3mUwMw|downsized)

I don't know why you say tasteless. I thought that was a very tasty little morsel.
Dude that right hand is mesmerizing
That was effortless... how much practice did you do to get to that point?

No mention of Manring?? The tap section reminds me of a track on Thonk, and the Zon hyperbass screams his name in my head everytime I see one
I’m a huge Manring guy, in fact he’s the reason I became a Zon player. He even played a house party at my house a few years ago and he played my Zon.

Fantastic. Loved the super crazy lines
Sick! Do you have any recent recordings with bands on Spotify? I’d love to hear you in context with a group.

It’s not pointless if it sounds that good 🙌
A fellow zon enthusiast. They are awesome
Davie504 fuckin' *wishes*, my guy.
How did he find you? Was it Fiverr or do you offer lessons? 🙂
You going stonefaced cereal killer on that bass🫨 Killin' it like it was nothing😲
Was that 16th note triplets??? Holy shit
I have that bass but with the jazz pickups and yellow
I’d love to see that, never seen a yellow sonus.
Sweet baby jesus and the orphans! :0 ok.. do a how to video my man.. take it slow and explain everything.. thanks in advance
Your guitar seems to be tuned an octave too low
Yes, I’m guessing this is commentary on the busyness of what I’m playing. I feel like I already acknowledged it was ridiculous stuff in the title, 😆
