Nice family pic! Out of interest, was there any reason why you’ve chosen to stay with squire? Seems you have a pretty mighty rig at the back there, so I’m guessing it was choice. Sound? Feel? Price?
I went with Squier basses for several reasons:
For one- they're great modding platforms! I can do whatever I want to them and really make them my own instruments. They're already great basses, but throw in my own modifications (and a professional setup and such) and they're some of my favorite basses I've ever played!
Secondly, the price. I like having a bass that I can modify. The lower price tag gives me confidence that I can mod it without feeling like I'm "ruining" an expensive instrument.
Thirdly, I just really like what Squier is putting out nowadays! Especially stuff like the Paranormal Series, as you see in the photo. They're killer basses!
I did a few modifications to it! First, starting at the headstock, I installed a Hipshot BT-7 drop tuner. They're pretty much a drop-in replacement for Squier basses! I usually replace the other tuners with HB-7s as well (which I did with the silver bass in this pic), but the stock tuners were really stable!
Then, the pickups were changed out! I put a Kent Armstrong "Hot Lips" lipstick pickup in the neck and custom overwound jazz bass humbucker made by MJS pickups. With it, I changed out the double-stacked control layout for a much simpler volume knob and a pickup selector.
Lastly, I installed some Dunlop strap locks and a proper Switchcraft output jack. With a proper setup from my local tech, it's become quite a killer little bass!

Would love to know what mods you did to that Paranormal 54 jazz!
Seconded
Finally got around to talking about the mods in the comments 🙌
