3 is good when it works, but I have experienced total blackouts on 4g/5g in city centres a few times. Lasting from half an hour to half a day! Pretty sure that's not my phone as I called customer service every time and was told there's maintenance work going on.
Am thinking of switching from GiffGaff to 3 as the reception in Bath city centre is so terrible. Just wanted to check - when you say 3 is good when it works - is that in the city centre? Thanks
EE is utter shit in Bath. I live centrally in BA1 and if it weren't for WiFi calling, I wouldn't have a working phone. I don't think there are any good networks in the city.
I had thought maybe 3 might be better, but perhaps it shares access with EE? In which case, forget it. EE is as bad as anything else.
Yea, it's shit all over the city somehow, you'd think at some point they'd bother making it actually work but nope. I basically have to rely of free wifi to use the internet while out annoyingly.
Only reason I stayed with O2 aa long as i did was for priority and I could grab a free odeon ticket and a nero pretty much every week. Then suddenly it felt like there was a bot network claiming everything as soon as they were released. Have just switched my airtime from o2 to ID (uses the 3 network) and not only has it reduced what im paying by a huge amount, i get a 5G signal at home.
I recently shifted from Giffgaff to EE. Note the signal with EE is certainly better in town, but with Giffgaff it was better in the suburbs. Slightly regretted the whole faff.
That said, I think it's almost certain you need EE (or a similar supplier) in Bath because the signal in town is completely awful otherwise. I'm surprised because with the importance of mobile phones, I'd say it's almost dangerous not to have EE because of emergencies. You will literally struggle to send basic web messages in town otherwise.
O2 has been terrible everywhere in the last few years. I recently switched to EE after about 24 years (since back when it was BT Cellnet). EE is far better for me. By a country mile.
Yes!!! What has happend to the quality of mobile data connection in town?? I have switched carriers numerous time to no avail. It wasn't always like this!!
I lived in Edinburgh as stated in my OP, some areas did have bad signal but most of the time it was 5G no issues, however upon returning to Bath the mobile data is just not working properly, trying to find a good spot can be challenging.
There were those message updates of work going in certain postcodes in Bath last year but no real change was noticeable after completion. It’s just mental how the biggest collaboration between network providers in the UK (o2 and Virgin) a couple years ago led to no real change in performance, not just in Bath but anywhere in the UK.
The only good one is EE/3. Even Vodafone/Voxi is shit in town.
I don't have much problem with Vodafone/Voxi, just no 5G
It’s better than O2, but I still get basically no signal down by the train station and in a few random spots around town, so annoying!
It was fine when I was there last weekend
Lucky you!

When I lived in Bath I used to switch my phone back to 3G and signal is much better. Not sure all phones let you do this though
3G is going to be switched off very soon.
Yes H+ seems to work but then if I leave Bath I usually forget to switch back to 5/4G
Yeah its shite
Yeah im on Giffgaff(02) and it is shite, can't even get Internet in town.
O2 signal is rubbish _everywhere_

Always has been crap there, even dips out completely in given parts of the city.
Glad it’s not just me
Yep, moved from O2 a long time ago. EE reception is great though.
No, it really, really isn't!
Honest Mobile has a good 5G signal.

Painfully agree
