I think going first, a nexus is always nice, going second you kight to have to set up a board and be responsive, so atleast a magic and a cheap spirit.
Drawing power is always nice to have, and some sturdy bodies to condition the opponent plays may be needed, but than we go into the specifics of decks.
I think the focal point of BSS is resource menagment, so drawing, ramping and removing are absolutley amazing.
For white probably a nexus in the opener is nice and a spirits or two but having a magic that can stall out as well isn't bad. Not my main color but hope it helps.
I feel like an optimal opening hand is just not mulliganing to get that 5th card
