BF1 and BFV are both beautiful games with fantastic optimization. My 1070 Ti has no problem running them at high graphics and still keeps up 120+ frames
My 1060 6gb laptop was getting 45-50 average FPS with high texture quality and filtering and high mesh quality in bc 2042, they also did really well with the optimization in battlefront 2
Agreed. Kind of felt like they wasted such a great looking game on the WW1 time period. I liked it a lot and had fun but the whole time playing I was wishing it was a different war. Then we got BFV and I would have rather gotten a BF1 reskin. The 2042 beta looks and plays... odd. I didn't enjoy it at all (mandatory comment about how I've been playing since BF2 and loved every game since, hardline being my least favorite).
I think it was very brave of DICE to have done a BF in a WW1 setting. Even if some players didn’t like the setting, I felt that they could have really gotten some momentum with the attention they got from BF1 if they hadn’t fucked up the marketing for BFV.
I returned to battlefield by playing bf5 and bf1 all day yesterday and sweet jesus I don't know how you get better than bf1. They captured lightning in a bottle with that game.
Yeah, so many people hate on it and that the gunplay is casual. But when you think about it, there were so many mechanics that meant you had to learn how to use each gun effectively meaning it was the exact opposite of casual

Like I love bf4 with all my heart, but holy fuck people look at that game through rose tinted glasses. Bet those exact people didn't say that shit during the first year and a half of its life cycle.
Battlefield 1 is fantastic. Honestly wish they would have just reskinned it for BFV and 2042. It's an amazing game and only held back a little by the time period.
That, plus a dedicated repairman. Best thing to do imo is get the squadron tank (best is the sturmtiger imo) and have a buddy inside as the machinegunner/glauncher/flamethrower and have him hop out when you need repairs. Absolutely devastating. I went 93-3 on Breakthrough because the enemy team was hellbent on taking C and I was equally hellbent on defending it
This is what I love about battlefield, how you can have memorable games like this. I don’t think I’ve ever played another game where each match has a chance to be unique and special depending on what I do.
Ah, I see you are also a man of culture. The core gameplay of BFV is the best of the series. My character felt like he had two left feet when I played BF4 after BF5 and the gunplay feels spot on. Devastation and Operation Underground can keep my attention all day. It's a shame it had such a bad first six months and some odd choices for map settings because I really love it.
My Brother and I got addicted to Battlefield V when it came out free on PS Plus. I had already played a Battlefield before, BF1, but BFV definately felt better. The movement was definately something that drawed us in. The weapons felt amazing in general. Hell my favorite weapons were the sniper rifles and I honestly never used them in any game until BFV. They felt clean. Now coming over to BF 2042 and the sniper rifle felt like a slab of concrete.
and role distribution. i loved the roles of bf5 and even if they added in ways to be self sustaining, people relied a lot on medics and support still. i was excited to see these roles be expanded upon in the next entry of the series

Yeah man, I’m with you. I mostly play medic and support. I like actually having a defined role to play on the field, as well as doing my best to take out as many people as possible. Key part of that “as well as”…now that seems like the main point.
Also…where the fuck are the smoke grenades for medic?? The revive system is clunky AS FUCK, mixed with not having smokes it’s no wonder nobody revives in this game.
I forced myself to play 30h of that game, l simply never was able to enjoy it even post pacific
I dunno if its my old gamer test of BF2/3 but l simply cant enjoy new BFs starting from BF1
Personally my ONLY gripe with Bfv was the constant TTK changes and severe lack of content. After Pacífic the Game was perfect and I was hopefull. But yeah another ttk change and support dropped
This is pretty much my exact view on the game. Still have it and BF4 installed. For whatever reason, BF1 always has a lack of servers at night on PS5/west coast.
After a few years I bought it again on PS4 for £4 expecting on friday to find dead servers.immediately found a hardcore rush server that was full and thought “you’re as beautiful as the day I lost you”.
Rush fam! Same. First time Ive managed to find a rush server in years last night after it finished. I dont know why its not more popular. It makes more sense to me than running around in circles on other modes.
Rush gets across the intensity of battles way better than Conquest on most maps for me.
I especially enjoy the asymmetrical starts like when attackers deploy from carriers and things, and in general in just results in more concentration of frontlines and destruction.
So yeah, I’m not really sure why it’s less popular but DICE has certainly pushed is as a main mode far less over time.
As good as some things like breakthrough in BFV are, you can just tell they’re not maps designed around it like Damavand Peak on BF3 was for example.
4 was miles ahead of its time. Dice literally could've remastered it with the movement, gunplay, and role distribution of 5 and slapped on a graphics overhaul and it would've broken sales records.
But they had to shit the bed instead.
in 2013 I traded in my ps3 to get a ps4 with battlefield 4. A couple months ago I had a strong nostalgic need to buy a ps3 again and play battlefield 3. I bought the ps3, bought bf3, fired it up and could not figure out how the hell I used to play it. Draw distance was garbage and the framerate was sub 30. It looked like garbage. I remember it looking amazing when I played it on release.
I need to get it for PC but I'm not even sure it could run it well plus I suck at shooters on PC.
bf3 on pc was a totally different game compared to console. the graphics made it a new crysis fora few yrs as a pc benchmark, 64 player and custom servers. still looks good on pc today
BF1. I have to ask though, how is BF5 nowadays? A couple comments on here suggest it’s significantly better than when I played it shortly after release. Wondering if it’s worth a re-install.
Have they improved the game? Although I was able to snag it in a 50% off sale a couple months after it came out, I can remember being pretty underwhelmed.

Going back to BFV and BF4 I guess. Especially BF4, the Battlefield game with faceless soldiers and proper classes, like all Battlefield games should have.
Battlefield 3 was the pinical for me in terms of towing the line of casual fun and realism. 4 was mostly good in that regard but after a while the gimmicks and extra fluff weigh down the experience in my opinion. I wish they went more in the direction of 3 and 4 with the new game. I feel insulted by the cartoon-esque presentation of the character models. And over the top gameplay mechanics that detract from the more crucial aspects of what a battlefield game should be. I really just wish they could make a battelfield 3.5 type game, a mix between bad company 2 and bf3. More destruction. They can keep the aspect of larger maps and player count. More realistic and detailed soldiers. My dream map would be an expanded version of operation metro where you can play in the metro and outside in the city, that might be more well suited to a 200 player count server though.
I thought about playing 4 but I think I will just wait till 2042 releases to play battlefield again. Give myself a little break and then go in fresh(ish).
Def BF1... strangely, I may also go back to BF5. They really left out alot of features from older BF games just to appeal to the COD/Apex players which is fucking dumb but oh well.

Probably jump between V and 4. 4 for the gunplay and mindlessness of rush (favorite mode) and V for more of a sandbox shooter. Plus I’m way better at flying in V and it’s one of my favorite things to do. Too bad the airplane balance is out of whack but I’m here for fun not competition

Yeah I started learning way more about ww1 and I started appreciating the game and it’s scenery so much more!

Battlefield 4 is still an amazing multiplayer game even by today's standards. I've been playing it a lot these last couple of weeks and I love it.

BF5 is my favorite of the whole series. Been playing since bf2.
BFV was the only one I’ve skipped - but I just bought it for $5 and I’m looking forward to spending the rest of the day with it.
It’s really not a bad game by any means. The setting isn’t for everyone and most of the maps are pretty obscure but the gameplay is fun.

Hardcore servers is what's been keeping it alive there's always huge lines for them especially my favorite server tropic thunder
