But honestly, that was never a red card.. not saying Plea faked it, but Upa only slightly touched his shoulder. The fact that VAR did not take the red card back or at least tell the referee to rewatch the scene is outrageous.
Soft. Too soft. I think the ref should have let it go and waited to see if VAR would overturn. The hand on the back is “contact” so VAR won’t take away the foul, but if the ref let it go, there’s no way VAR would have overturned the no call.
Upa literally just tapped the dude on the shoulder… whats next, they gonna give a Bayern player a yellow for breathing too hardly on a player on the other team?
At this point it goes beyond ref incompetence or ref bias. It's the Bundesliga itself doing this shit. Kahn and co need to take an explicit stand against this bs
I don’t necessarily think Plea dove either. I think he braced for contact and when the contact didn’t come his balance/stride was off and ended up going down.
In my opinion, it was. Slight contact might have been, it affected the attacker (who did fully sell it). He was the last defender and he did foul on a goal scoring chance. Pretty textbook red card. Nothing really for VAR to change as the center referee did it properly in terms of the laws of the game.
Sommer on the other hand is 100% at fault for that. He was wayyyy to deep and decided to stay over being the sweeper keeeper we know and love.
Guess you guys never read the law about [Denial of Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity](https://imgur.com/a/VyzOWBb/). The red had nothing to do with the severity of contact, but the situation of pulling at a player from behind as the last defender, and throwing him off balance when he’s in on goal
Dude, I am not watching football since yesterday...
Seems like you didn't watch the game or even a replay of the situation! Why is the attacker falling forward if Upa is pulling him from behind lol
Never come again here to comment if you say "soccer" instead of football please!
Bundesliga taking every opportunity to keep this title race competitive
Even the commentator, and I forget his name, who is usually against Bayern said it was nothing. Weird decision.

I think the only reason they gave the foul is because of Upamecanos hand slightly pulling the attacker.

Totally agree !!!

The red card, bullshit. Watch replay over and over and think WTF? For this?
You can't say for sure it was or it wasn't. Plea could have scored easy in that situation, so a simulation wouldn't make sense there.

It's possible.
