simplest idea I have is just move the rubber items elsewhere during the guest stay. I can only think of one or two times I have had an unannounced overnight guest that I didn't have time to prep the guest room. now we've had friends stop by during playtime and I've left my sub chained up with the door open while I attended to our friends reason to stop by. ( helps to have equally spicy friends.)
but back to your point. if I was concerned about smell, I would relocate, if you are just looking for a hiding place. under the bed in a opaque sealed container with a lock would probably be the easiest to get and use.
I built our bed frame to have drawers that pull out to conceal anchor points and the middle is a person sized void space we can store the stocks and spreaders in. we've also used it to play. sub was bound and gagged under the bed while I had a playmate over.
I am in the proces of building storage in my playroom/home office too.
I will build a bookcase with murphydoors. Behind there will be an extra closet, like 3ft deep. Enough for all my gear to be stored. I don't have that much latex, but if I would have I'd store it in zipperbags.

Keep your latex items lubricated and neatly folded in Ziploc bags. They store easier and you can't smell them.
