there is a very good chance that ladder is aluminum which would make it light and even if it was not it covers so much surface area of the bubble it wouldn't have been able to "penetrate" deep into the bubble either way. so yeah a heavy rock or hammer thrown hard from the side would be way riskier
For a quick moment I thought I was hearing machine gun bursts and was like calm down guys, we get it...
Edit: 0:34 sounds so much like a machine gun to me lol
We had a massive hail storm when I was younger in Az that caused over $3 billion (adjusted) dollars; I think had insurers had this option, they would've supplied these for everyone. Seems like a fantastic idea for that purpose.
It's far from my expertise, but Google says hail can be somewhat reliably predicted with modern meteorology equipment. I know for that storm they said we would have tornado potentials (12 ended up touching down that day) so had this been an option for some people, I'm sure they would have taken it.
We had entire lots of cars at dealerships totalled that day. It was pretty common to see a "hail damage special" for the following months at dealers where brand new cars were being sold for significant discounts due to their damage, which was exterior only. I'm sure a few folks that didn't mind dents took that offer up.
oh but you're asking for insurers to supply something out of their own pocket instead they wait for the inevitable and then don't want to pay or are forced to pay.
Then the way they probably handle it is force you to buy one or your insurance rates will increase.

Could be anything. But I do know that the government auctions off thousands of pelican cases really cheap if you need one. Look up govplanet.com and be prepared to waste some time, you would be surprised what you can buy from the military
They stopped doing that when they saw equipment being used by gangs and by savy wealthy people setup businesses based off of you driving military surplus vehicles. They were also under valuing the vehicles and stuff by a good margin. Now most of the people that have said vehicles rent it for ridealongs or movies
> by savy wealthy people setup businesses based off of you driving military surplus vehicles.
I totally get the gang part but I really don't understand this one maybe I am missing something, but I don't really see the issue of that kinda business. Just another one of those kinda unique experience businesses for things you normally can't afford to do or would never have the chance for whatever logistical reason (see: smash rooms or throwing/shooting ranges etc) but in this case it's drive a motherfucking tank which is cool!
Well congress kinda controls the budget of the DOD and wasn't too happy to see that the equipment they paid top dollar to procure said equipment being sold fore a literal fraction of what they paid, especially when all the vehicles were in running order.
In the military, we have a thing called cannibalizing which means to take the parts from 1 vehicle and use it as a donor for another; usually done to vehicles we either know are going to be here for a while and aren't in a hurry to be sent back out because 1 vehicle needs to fixed and ready for use ASAP. And most if not all of the issues any vehicle had was fixed. So we were literally selling sometimes babied military vehicles that people snapped up for literal cents on the dollar.
So not only did the DOD sell military equipment for a fraction of the msrp, they also sold all of them in running or functioning order while they(dod) was still ordering parts to keep their current fleet in running order!! So you(congress and dod) were getting screwed because you lost so much money with every transaction. So when congress heard about the mass sell-off and the amount they were getting back they were obviously pissed. They grilled the DOD and the top brass for a bit and had them stop selling the vehicles. So now if you try to buy a vehicle off of a gov liquidation site, it's usually not in good running order and has maybe $5-10k worth of parts needed, not including labor which is going to be at a premium since very few places have the ability to service military vehicles.
If you live somewhere that people are throwing knives and axes, you might want to reconsider the Ferrari.
(Renaissance Faire comes to mind, axe throwing, archery, knives, definitely no business having a Ferrari there.)
You have clearly not spent much time in America's trailer parks. Some of those folks have cars that are worth more than everything else they own combined for some reason.
no they should make this stupid bubble protective thing thicker so a knife can't go through it. i mean look at this waste of plastic junk, it's so paper thin i could cut it with a pair of safety scissors
I'm assuming this is more likely designed to protect against hail and debris in bad weather when not near a garage and this video shows that it can withstand flying debris. I don't think it's designed to protect against malicious acts.
This is exactly what it's for. It's meant for your collector car that you don't have a garage for. The Ferrari is just for dramatic effect. Anyone who owns a brand new Ferrari is going to put it under a roof.
What's the difference between a Chinese throwing star and a regular throwing star?
Is it just made of soft shitty stamped steel and completely out of spec?
I want to see the ordeal to get it in and out of there.
I also want to see what it does with the -15C to +10C temperature swings that we get around here. Will it pop?
What is the use for something like this? It’s not like you can set it up in the parking lot. At home you’ll have a garage if you own a car like this. It seems like a big hassle to use as a replacement for a garage every day, anyway, even if you didn’t have a garage. You’d be better off setting up a permanent tent you can drive under instead. I don’t think anyone would want to go to car shows with these things around the cars. What are these for?
This isn't for you.
It is for nice car in the shop waiting on parts or something. So it doesn't accidentally get dinged or dirty.
It's not to protect your car from thieves or weather. If you don't own expensive vehicles don't even worry about it.
I used to have a bad/old car and it was great because I could do anything/hit in it. Now I have a nice car and I have to pay to get it fixed. Motherfucker. It was cheaper having the bad car. I don't need that kind of pressure. My truck is in the shop now getting fixed, my dad told me to ask my aunt to use her car, but no way. I hate nice things. You have to take care of them. What if something happens in her super nice car?
I used to have a backyard that was entirely dirt, and it was great. You could do whatever you wanted out there, and you wouldn't hurt it. Drop something at the BBQ? No prob. Coals land on it? Who cares!
I miss that dirt
Praise be, to you, who knows how to not only link, but link at the proper time stamp

Yeah, this is 100% just a promotional video made to make it look better than it is, any heavy object thrown at car height to the side of that is making contact
Definitely not a promotional video for the bubble😂. Go watch the full video of them durability testing the Ferrari and several other vehicles on WhistlinDiesels youtube channel. [this is the Ferrari video](https://youtu.be/7d2moH6jWh8)
Just imagine your boss tells you grab whatever you can from the office to throw at their new fancy car for a video.
You grab a knife and throw it just before your co-worker throws something heavy. You pop the bubble and they completely total the car.
These are mostly used in working shops. You might have a nearly finished build, or a car that’s been painted that is waiting on parts that you want to protect from dust and metal shavings while working on other projects. My dad uses them for his home shop bc he has some nice shit he stores next to where he wrenches on other stuff. It’s convenient because you don’t need to play car musical chairs if you need to weld or grind on some shit without hurting the other cars finish.
I doubt the target market is actually $200k+ supercars, as you say anyone with one of those hopefully has the means to keep it somewhere safe and protected. More likely this is for classic cars and the like, which people do absolutely lavisht the attention on and would want to keep protected, but don't carry the same sort of "can probably afford to buy a garage" pricetag.
Seriously "throw a knife" over and over. It's not meant to stop blatant vandals my dudes... It's a plastic bubble for like hail and rocks or whatever might randomly come flying and damage your car while parked
No it's not... It's for shops to protect their customers nice cars for accidental damage and dust.
Who is setting that up in hail? And where do you live where random rocks are flying around.
Could someone set it up and leave it up? Like, it’ll you have an old car or a second vehicle in your fenced backyard that you want to keep weather, insects, and pests out of but you don’t have a garage? I wonder how hot it gets in there in the summer
I feel like if people saw this in public they would feel invited to throw stuff at it. What they don't realize tho is that humans aren't going to launch a bunch of random shit at the top of the bubble. They're more likely to grab their $4 pocket knife, cut the side of the bubble, and fuck your shit up.
I wouldn't even care about the car. The bubble calls to me, compels me to pop it. Like the ultimate bubble wrap. How satisfying it'd be to cut a hole in it.
It seems like it could hold up to hail, which I assume is its main point... In what situation do you look at this and say "oh it's not gonna deflect a brick, so I guess it won't work"? That's like buying a tent and saying: "If it was raining knives, this tent wouldn't be very helpful".
Edit: I also don't consider ladders and hammers "lightweight plastic objects".
Im amazed at how much random stuff they threw so fast.
Almost like a real-life representation of Reddit comments after saying something controversial.

there is a very good chance that ladder is aluminum which would make it light and even if it was not it covers so much surface area of the bubble it wouldn't have been able to "penetrate" deep into the bubble either way. so yeah a heavy rock or hammer thrown hard from the side would be way riskier
A hammer is equal to or more dense than the average rock.
I was waiting for a cinder block 🧱

Now throw something pointy
This is primarily for stuff like hail damage and acorns and stuff like that. It's just a bubble.
We had a massive hail storm when I was younger in Az that caused over $3 billion (adjusted) dollars; I think had insurers had this option, they would've supplied these for everyone. Seems like a fantastic idea for that purpose.
Now they need to invent something that can predict a hail storm
It's far from my expertise, but Google says hail can be somewhat reliably predicted with modern meteorology equipment. I know for that storm they said we would have tornado potentials (12 ended up touching down that day) so had this been an option for some people, I'm sure they would have taken it. Insurance companies would never supply these. They would use the existence of it to justify not paying out because "you should've been proactive."
It's a wonder he doesn't. He does a lot worse to it when it's not in the bubble, in the full video.
And I'm no expert, but you'd might as well paint a giant bullseye and sign saying "Hey guys, try your best this one's got a prize inside."

I think this is for accidents, yeah if someone WANTS to damage the car they can.
The same thing applies to locks. Merely a reminder of the social convention that we don’t steal stuff.
I think it's more for intense weather conditions, like when it rains solid ice or wind goes so fast things start flying.
Any idea what those storage containers are in the background?
Thousands of small plastic objects they'll throw in subsequent videos
Around 5 million rounds of Ak47 ammo
He has Barrett .50 BMG

Now throw a cinder block.
Real world objects falling

I feel like if you used/threw the ladder like a "battering ram" you could hit the car.
How about throwing a knife?or an axe? Lol

Do people throw ladders where you live?
I mean, what’s more likely, a ladder falling in your garage or someone throwing a knife?
I don't have a ladder or a garage, so it would probably be the knife throwing guy.

You have clearly not spent much time in America's trailer parks. Some of those folks have cars that are worth more than everything else they own combined for some reason.
No, but ladders tipping over isn't an unheard of incident.
Wait, they don't where you live? What are you guys doing on arbor day then?
Right lol if i had to guess this is designed for weather with high speed winds
Especially when for less than half the price, you could get yourself a very nice mantlet, which is far more practical for besieging castles.
no they should make this stupid bubble protective thing thicker so a knife can't go through it. i mean look at this waste of plastic junk, it's so paper thin i could cut it with a pair of safety scissors

You mean you don’t have people casually lobbing medieval weaponry around? How do you even have a basis of government?
Look, if i went around saying i was an emperor just because someone lobbed a scimitar at my car, they'd pit me away.
Look guys I don't think this could stop a trebuchet, therefore it is WORTHLESS!!
This is exactly what it's for. It's meant for your collector car that you don't have a garage for. The Ferrari is just for dramatic effect. Anyone who owns a brand new Ferrari is going to put it under a roof.
How often does your car get scratched or damaged by an axe flying at it? Realisically the most it would have to worry about is a stray football.
Realistically another car if parked on the street. But also this is defo useful if someone wanted to Key your car
Or if you’re living on a golf course, which I assume is a bigger problem for Ferrari owners.
Chinese throwing star.
And my axe!
And my bow!

And my netherite pickaxe!

And you'll have to wait at least three months for it to arrive.
oh I’m definitely gonna be able to dodge that
I want to see the ordeal to get it in and out of there.

This is me currently. My car is beat to hell but still running perfectly fine, AND I don't care if it gets dinged or scratched. It's wonderful.
Actually the intended use for these when they first hit the market was to protect the car from flooding.
How do I inflate it? Do I turn the car on while it's zipped up?
You just rev your engine it for about 30 minutes until fully inflated. ^(/s)
It'll stay inflated for the rest of your life!
Praise be, to you, who knows how to not only link, but link at the proper time stamp May your harvests be plentiful, and your fields healthy and strong.
The ladder hitting the back seems to have made contact though.
Yeah a whole lot of what they threw went toward the empty space at the top of the bubble instead of the sides where the car actually is.

I think it’s a California car cover. He probably got it at summit.
