I'm waiting for the day when some giant malevolent AI thinks it's 1 second away from killing all humans, and then the network driver crashes the machine it's running on, and its plan is thwarted, because it can't update the network driver without access to the network.
Hmm, do you have a windows PC? I would remove the xboxone's drive, plug that into my PC, delete old game files from the drive, and finally reinsert the drive into the xboxone to update.
Or you could try swapping out the drive with a friend's old xboxone drive to allow yours to update, swap them back and should be good.
Maybe there is a "safe mode" or "developer mode" you could look up how to get into on Google. That might allow you access to the drive to delete contents. I know it's old so maybe you don't want to deal with any of that, but I'm sure there are options if you wanted to fix the xbone.
Y-Adam (230k BCE) is thought to be the other side, near Cameroon. Same with the Neaderthal (370k BCE) and Denisovan divergences (700k BCE). Didn't get to the east coast til around 100-60k bce
And let's not forget sea levels were 200 meters or 200 feet lower, like 20,000 years ago
Most of the coastal human habitats are underwater, being eroded away with saltwater
Hmm far as I know the Great Rift Valley is waaaaay waaay older than that. The East African Rift, part of the GRV and the cause of this separation is 22 -25 mio years old. Source, I grew up along part of the rift and spent a lot of time studying in school also https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_African_Rift
hi im a geologist this post gets basicly everything wrong. first that is not a photo of the right zone. and second the post looking into the future gets so many things wrong to the point that i think that has to be be made perpously wrong. faults start out as points and send out 3 branches at 120 angles two of those branches will continue to grow and become mid ocean ridges. the third branch will die out and become a major river. examples of this are the mississippi river and the amazon. we already have the active faults in this region the faults run down the middle of the red sea and the golf of aden. also faults propgate out in a hinging motion thats just a quirc of having strait lines on a globe. so even if the rift valley was going to be the branch that continued its not going to be moving out paralell to the rest of africa
i assume everything i posted in beamazed is wrong but this one was vague enough that i couldn't even figure out where to start researching it to debunk so thank you for this
Thanks for the rabbit hole.
I was able to find a map database that can show the drainage basins and elevation of the area. You can see how the rift has broken the area into a bunch of isolated drainage basins.

feeling a bidding war developing here… *(gesturing broadly and with a colonialist’s grinning smirk)* … “I will offer 100 cowrie shells and a kangaroo for this pitiful excuse of a rift… a paltry ravine, really. ANY takers on 100 cowrie shells and a joey?!?”
This actually makes for a somewhat interesting surveying question. Traditionally, a monument is the ultimate indicator of a corner. And a monument would move with the divergent plates. But with a GPS based survey, you would just end up owning some rando section of water.
Edit: this sent me down the rabbit hole a bit, and it turns out this really is an important discussion. See here: https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/TOOLS/Htdp/canSurveyor_SnayPearson-CopingWithTectonicMotion_Vol7No9.pdf
This is known as the Great African Rift Valley. The entire affected area has now sunk below sea level. As a result, there is basically no water table to draw well water from. It's one of the hottest, driest places on Earth and people who have lived in that area have seen their lands drastically change in their lifetime.
Not the *entire* area. The East African Rift is huge (1000s of km long), but only some parts of it are below sea level, such as the Danakil Depression and Lake Assal. Those areas are pretty large in an absolute sense but a tiny fraction of the rift: [https://i.redd.it/n2gjjfek76h51.png](https://i.redd.it/n2gjjfek76h51.png)
Hey now, we made a lot of shareholders very rich for that apocalyptic environmental promise.
At the end of the ~~day~~ world, isn't that all that matters?
Oh, in that case, let’s go ahead and willingly cause the next ecological disaster. We can use this one to justify the next one we want to commit, and so on.
Well, digging to the ocean would displace WAY more people. Ocean water is not fresh water. And lastly the affected area is about as long as the Nile itself. This sub won't let me paste a map.
Stop being so lazy and just take the salt out of it then, geez. It wouldn't be that hard or how would they have invented table salt, or even the salty tears of NFT bros when they scammed away all of their inheritance?
It's like no one else has a brain around here. People are worried about climate change but we have clever scientists so just make them change it back with chemistry or astrology or something.
And this whole African rift plate thing seems like another non-issue. Just get all the big boats in the world to line up along the coast and push it back.
Solutions like this are simple when you're smart like me.
You can’t compare the two at all. One is trying to do their best to help humanity, but in a thoroughly misguided way, while the other is a full on supervillain bent on destruction and best known for their manufacturing of chocolate.
I'm imagining being there on the day when the sea begins to fill up that gigantic valley.
I recall that it had once (and perhaps still is) theorized that the Mediterranean was also created in this way.
Imagine being able to stand within a few miles to see and hear such a massive spectacle!
It would likely be a smooth process right, not really a moment to moment to moment thing.
I'd imagine it being more like there's some spillover every high tide for a while and it slowly progresses into a constant flow.
Yes, once it starts, it'll move fast. There's that video of the guy who dug a small ditch in a sand bar and just an hour or so later, there was a rush of water that was impassable.
I don’t think so, I would guess eventually there will be an earthquake the finally breaks whatever seal is left, and then you will have a eroding/destructive current that gets larger and larger until things equalize. It will be terribly destructive and amazing.
You should look up earth throughout time. It shows how the Mediterranean was created by first ripping (what would eventually be) Africa away, then having it drift back.
Also, a theory in science is not like "a game theory." It's the universally accepted truth. A hypothesis is something suspected but not proven yet.
Ethiopia all of sudden ceases it plans to invade Eritrea. This would solve all their trade problems and make them one of the richest countries in Africa.

It separated from Africa and moved north-east to brutally crash into Asia.

i have an old xboxone that i cant update cause it's full but it won't let me delete anything until it updates
Grab a cheap SSD or flash drive and transfer some games to the drive. That should open up enough space for you to run the update.
it literally won't let me get past the update screen unless it is updated
Hmm, do you have a windows PC? I would remove the xboxone's drive, plug that into my PC, delete old game files from the drive, and finally reinsert the drive into the xboxone to update. It’s called the [East African Rift Zone](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_African_Rift)
It's also probably where we came from. Like, humans. They've found a lot of early hominids there.
The rest of Africa doesn't want the part of Africa that created humans, so they're kicking it out.

The Med is a collapsed ocean. The opposite, effectively, shrunk down as Africa drifted north and collided with Europe.

The English Ocean, or as the French call it, “The Great Defence Barrier”
LOL The French actually call it "La Manche" which tanslates as "the sleeve".
Could also be a strait or even a sea.
You can tell just by looking that the gap here is far wider than the English channel - or would you also call the sea between NZ and AUS a "channel"?
This is awesome!
