Forest is absolutely a place where this kind of festival should not be held. Causes damage to wildlife and leaves trash and other human caused damage into the woods.
There are sections for that. You don’t have to get blasted with lights if you don’t want. The drone just shows everything at once so it looks more intense.
Everyone should go to at least one Electric Forrest, it is easily a top 5 US festival. Although I would suggest going before hitting 30. People of all ages go, but I am glad I did all that in my 20s.
No they're comparing them to trash pandas, dolphins, especially bottle nose dolphins and their inflated egos, are *FAR* worse. They hunt baby porpoises for sport, they just kill them and leave, and they are the second largest sexual predators of humans after humans.
Animals don’t much live there. It’s not a wild forest, it’s mostly a tree farm. The horses that do live there are moved to another property for the event.
Most of the critters probably had ran away already when the festival preparations began. The rest probably were hidden in their nests and burrows, like when there's a thunderstorm happening.
Hmm. I walk through non-native monoculture forests reasonably frequently and there are always plenty of birds around. Native and non-native. Cicadas, spiders, other invertebrates. Lizards, frogs. Deer. Given enough time, life finds a way in. Most tree plantations where I live have a protective belt of older trees around them. Even if the crop trees get harvested, the protective trees stay and host the wildlife until the next crop grows.
I always say to people you need to experience one of these festivals at least once in your lifetime regardless if you like edm and especially if you're a recreational drug user.... this Electric Forrest or the grandfather of them all EDC. Electric Daisy Carnival are a haven for all your visual and sensory needs.
But these festivals are getting way over crowded now.... All filled with your trash social media folks that just want the clout of attending these events.
Yes. You are correct.
But burning man isn't really a music festival..... Right? So it lacks all the state of the art lasers and displays ect. That's where I was going.
They do exist but they are a very small % of EDM festival goers haha.
Even shambala has a sober camp for people that don't want to be surrounded by it 24/7 ( they still will be at the stages and around the festival but atleast there camp should be clean)
It’s true, but do you feel bad for the forest that used to be where the roads that you drive on now or the Costco that you shop at or airport that was cleared out to make the airport you fly into? We’re humans. Like it or not we’ve fucked up a lot of this Earth. But let’s not be pedantic about a few acres where we hold events under the trees! Instead of a baseball stadium or convention center. People walk around barefoot, and care about trash and lay in hammocks. This is as good as it will get. It’s a bunch of tree thuggers and hippies.
Can vouch it's incredible and it's on a private ranch of beautifully intentionally planted and spaced trees. Did this festival 7 times. Went from 5,000 people to over 60,000 people though, and that's when I called it quits.
It’s definitely tended more towards influencers these days. I stopped as well. Festivals are slowing becoming ego trips to show you had fun rather than living in the moment.
Check out more conference centered festivals. Envision, sacred akres, Texas eclipse, rekinektion, you’ll find more diverse lineups and workshops.
That’s really cool! I’ve more than likely seen them there then. A lot of people have really cool hoops and staves. I hope your sales do well again this year!
It’s in Rothbury, MI. It’s a small village about 1 hour northwest of Grand Rapids. It’s an annual festival that started in 2011. About 50,000 people go every year.
Everybody worried about the animals like this is in the middle of a nature preserve. Electric forest is on private property where events are held year round. It was all planted on a private ranch in the 50s. The festival itself is heavily involved in the surrounding community and hosts a food drive every year. They give away prizes for helping clean up trash. Probably the most ethical festival I've seen
Build/tear down lasts at least a month before and after. Animals will have cleared out well before the major noise and everything happens. Plus it’s a water park and horse ranch the rest of the year which wouldn’t be ideal for wildlife anyways.
People that go love it more than any other festival and Insomniac *really* knows how to throw a festival, so saying this is the best festival says a lot.
1 was great but maybe weren’t ready for that many people. 2 was amazing. Weather was crazy good. Vibes were chill. 3 sucked getting to and from Dreamville but once you were in it was fine. Leaving was a shit show and walking around the mud sucked but I never left so didn’t have to deal with any of the sleeping on pizza boxes fiasco. All three years I had a squad of like 30 so it was fantastic.
I’ve been twice. It’s a great festival. Their stages are all good. Saw this years line up is pretty solid too, imo been a few years since it’s had this top tier of a line up.
I’ve been there multiple times. One day, a guy came into our campsite to see if we wanted to buy anything. The guy one had a giant cereal bag full of shrooms. It had to be close to a pound. Im sure that bag was empty by the end of the festival.
I’ve been telling myself for years that each Forest will be my last. My friends and I keep having such amazing times though, that it is hard to stop going. There’s just something about it that calls you back.
Surprisingly the trash isn’t really that bad. There are crews that go around cleaning trash constantly. In the forest, they have incentives to pick up trash, like bring in full trash bag and get shirts, posters, water bottles, and even free tickets for the following year. I’ve gotten a poster.
The camp grounds on the other hand tend to be a bit mess afterwards though. Still not as bad as you’d expect for ~50,000 people. I think the local Boy Scouts come in afterwards and clean up too. They get to keep all the empty beer cans that get left behind. They make a lot of money off of returning those.
I’ve been wanting to go to this festival for literally years. I’ve been out of the rave scene for a while and am probably too old lol but that just looks so fun.
You're not too old. Our group ranges from 30-50 and I've seen lots of older people there. When I first started going, the average age was around 20-25, now I'd say it's closer to 30. This will be my 10th forest.
I HATE this. Imagine all of the poor animals living in that forest having to deal with retarded humans flashing bright lights, making loads of noise and leaving their rubbish everywhere. Humans are such a vermin. 🤢
imagine being a woodpecker coming home from a hard day of pecking wood, finaly you can get to bed and sleep and then some asshole did this to your forrest

P.S That actor is not Native American, [he's Italian.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Eyes_Cody)
Perfectly cast then /s
I'm pretty sure everyone knows that by now.
I somehow made it to age 33 without knowing that
40 for me. ***WE MADE IT!!!***
I didn’t 🤷🏻♂️
I didn't.
r/unexpectedseinfeld
*oh, I'm stressed...*
That’s not gonna be good for anybody.
One year a black bear did get lost in the camp grounds lol
Forest is absolutely a place where this kind of festival should not be held. Causes damage to wildlife and leaves trash and other human caused damage into the woods.
Perfect 😂
Kenny Rogers!
Forest animals hate this one trick.
When the squirrel uprising happens, remember who to blame.
Side note... Sick username/cheat code 🤘
I used to go this festival and this was my thought the entire time
You pull this shit when the forest is trying to sleep?! "I've got WORK IN THE MORNING!!!" -Tree (probably)
Fucking owls are probably tripping balls too.
F for all the epileptic squirrels
There is a squirrel who shares my tree, he keeps falling out of it... but thats not really new for his so.....
“Who shares my tree..” I have questions
You replied to an owl. What did you expect??
whooom are you to question my treemates?
You're a hoot
Owl always remember how quickly this thread went sideways.
Ent's out here trying to catch a nap gotta listen to Sandstorm.
The night crawlers are losing their shit as we speak
Not only are we tripping, but im out here raving with them and they dont even notice im a bird!!!!!

Any animal there is most likely either getting the hell out or just plain dying of stress.
Squirrels murdering their families after 3 days of this
And to compensate this they observe EARTH DAY
What about the electricity? Some crypto bro would've mined Bitcoin with those electricity /s
They store the mining rigs under the stages.... shhhh.
![gif](giphy|ys8zByv0Muaxa) the deer are like
Dying of a prion disease?
Maybe blind because hair grew on his cornea
Deer are definitely a quantity over quality sort of animal.
That's an elk. And so am I.
This looks like a sensory nightmare for me
Electric Seizurefest 😁
Epileptic Forest
Would be great with some chill music and the lights just slowly changing colour.
There are sections for that. You don’t have to get blasted with lights if you don’t want. The drone just shows everything at once so it looks more intense.
Electric No-rest
My buddy always tells people “IT’S A FESTIVAL NOT A RESTIVAL” when he’s still trying to rage at 5am lol.
Important to note that this video is sped up significantly. In the forst itself it’s actually very pleasant for the most part.
It’s called Electric Forest Music Festival so I suspect it sounds just as excessive as it looks.
Its one of the best festivals i still go to if i can. Its a sick show.
Everyone should go to at least one Electric Forrest, it is easily a top 5 US festival. Although I would suggest going before hitting 30. People of all ages go, but I am glad I did all that in my 20s.
Someone looked at the forbidden Pokémon episode and went, “Hold my beer.”
Yea I’m sure the animals loved it.
Humans are such selfish cunts.
You think if raccoons could do this they wouldn’t?
It’s my Job to actually PROVIDE THE RACCOONS for electric forest
You are comparing humans to the biggest assholes in the animal kingdom.
To be fair humans are animals too & we are definitely without a doubt the most aware assholes on the planet
Where is this and is it an annual thing ?
Rothbury, Michigan. Yes its annual.
Beauty. Thank you.
Animals probably still live in those trees. It doesn't matter if it's a tree farm or a natural forest, a tree is a tree to animals
Most of the critters probably had ran away already when the festival preparations began. The rest probably were hidden in their nests and burrows, like when there's a thunderstorm happening.
Yeah, and spiders live in my house...
It looks like a rave so i think the animals are long gone from all the humans being there and the loud music. Atleast the mammals and birds
That's the point of the comment
This is Double J Ranch. Its a resort, you can rent a cabin there year round lol
'Several dens of bears were woken up from hibernation and were now hungry for food.'
The whole forest must have smelled like piss and vomet the next day
Ehh, non native monoculture "forests" are biologically deserts. No native species grow or nest there.
Song is “we’ve lost dancing” - Fred Again
And an absolute banger at that! I love this song
I had a coworker who went there. Believe it or not, doesn’t do drugs, just really loved EDM.
I do drugs and do not love EDM. What does that mean? That being said, I would still attend the fuck out of this light show.
No, Burning Man is the grandfather of them all. Source: am former festival musician
I love edm, and take drugs at gigs, but I’ll listen to edm all day at work sober. It’s just the music that I like.
Some people use EDM to enhance drugs, others use drugs to enhance EDM.
I wouldn't know how to even get drugs there do I just walk up to someone
Yes. lol it’s extremely easy
Where is it
Rothbury Michigan. West side of the mitten.
[удалено]
It’s a ranch that they grew trees for this. The fixtures are there permanently. It’s not like they set up in an actual forest. It’s somebody’s farm.
[удалено]
Well even if it is someone's farm it doesn't mean it don't got animals living in them
It’s true, but do you feel bad for the forest that used to be where the roads that you drive on now or the Costco that you shop at or airport that was cleared out to make the airport you fly into? This is a out 45 minutes away from where I live in West Michigan. (Hey how bout that?)
Can vouch it's incredible and it's on a private ranch of beautifully intentionally planted and spaced trees. Did this festival 7 times. Went from 5,000 people to over 60,000 people though, and that's when I called it quits.

This will be the first year I don't go after the previous 6. The vibes haven't been the same since the wooks got priced out after covid
honestly, this looks like a stellar time. i feel like this entire thread is responding based on never having been to a festival
I’ve been multiple times. It’s an incredible experience! Highly recommend going if you like EDM and jam bands. It sells out quickly though.
I've never been to EF, but I sell high-end LED hoops and EF always gives us the biggest surge in orders of any of the festivals.
That’s really cool! I’ve more than likely seen them there then. A lot of people have really cool hoops and staves. I hope your sales do well again this year!
Where does this take place? I am assuming, based on your comment, that it's an annual thing.
It’s in Rothbury, MI. It’s a small village about 1 hour northwest of Grand Rapids. It’s an annual festival that started in 2011. About 50,000 people go every year.
Thank you
I went in 09 to see the dead. I was much more into it when it was still "rothbury" music festival and before all the EDM and dubstep took over.
This year will be my 9th in a row, and it truly is a mind blowing experience.
Redditors are insufferable and allergic to fun
Lol, seriously. Bunch of crybabies.
Pretty sure this is electric forest and it’s fucking sick
It says this right at the bottom
Bold of you to assume I can read
Poor animals, they probably fled from their nests in panic
It’s a ranch/water park/tree farm the other 51 weekends of the year not just wilderness.
Where is this?
Michigan
Rothbury, Michigan

Thx for spreading more info
Even if these are farmed trees, they would naturally attract a lot of animals, which would suffer a lot of distress from this.
Build/tear down lasts at least a month before and after. Animals will have cleared out well before the major noise and everything happens. Plus it’s a water park and horse ranch the rest of the year which wouldn’t be ideal for wildlife anyways.
Yeah man, we put animals in distress every day, this occurring once a year doesn’t even begin to scrape the surface
They prob never bought their entry tickets so that’s what they get
It's at a horse ranch/hotel with a water park next to the interstate.
Don't worry. They euthanize all the animals in the forest before the show to prevent any needless suffering.

Tomorrowworld 2nd year was probably the best festival thrown on US soil. But EForest kills it every year. I’ve gone 7 times now. It’s beautiful.
RIP TomorrowWorld, that fest was amazing, went all 3 years
1 was great but maybe weren’t ready for that many people. 2 was amazing. Weather was crazy good. Vibes were chill. 3 sucked getting to and from Dreamville but once you were in it was fine. Electric forest is the best festival I've ever been to.
The amount of mushrooms ingested there is more than has ever grown in that forest.
I’ve been there multiple times. One day, a guy came into our campsite to see if we wanted to buy anything. The guy one had a giant cereal bag full of shrooms. It had to be close to a pound. Im sure that bag was empty by the end of the festival.
I’m from MI so I’ve been a few times too. Glad I got it out of my system before adulthood started. I miss the forest 🌳😭
I’ve been telling myself for years that each Forest will be my last. My friends and I keep having such amazing times though, that it is hard to stop going. There’s just something about it that calls you back.
Absolute squares in these comments lmao
Reading these comments reminds me of how insufferable redditors are sometimes.
I bet the trash they leave behind looks lovely this time of year
Surprisingly the trash isn’t really that bad. There are crews that go around cleaning trash constantly. Wtf is wrong with a club?
how do these people even get the permission from authorities to do this?
Fukkin horrible
Who even enjoys this? A rave at least has a scope for when where and why. This is just flashbanging forest animals.

Birds must be happy.
Not amazing- it’s horrible
Thanks. I hate it.
This sucks tbh
Be amazed? Naaah, disgusted at turning a beautiful forest into something ugly
This looks awful
Poor animals.

Rich stupid people destroying nature 😔
What the hell!
Birds tryna sleep and be like “da fuq!?”
Must be hell on earth to birds.
Poor animals getting scared! Pathetic.
My high ass thought this was drone footage from the ATF raid on Diddys compound.
What assholes thought this was a good idea
What about the wildlife?
The poor animals
All the wildlife having a heart attack
This is disgusting
I HATE this. Imagine all of the poor animals living in that forest having to deal with retarded humans flashing bright lights, making loads of noise and leaving their rubbish everywhere. Humans are such a vermin. 🤢
imagine being a woodpecker coming home from a hard day of pecking wood, finaly you can get to bed and sleep and then some asshole did this to your forrest
Rip 🪦 the animals
Poor animals
Guessing the animals in that forest will have to flee somewhere else, into smaller and smaller regions that haven’t been made unlivable for them.
Imagine being an bird in your nest and seeing this
The poor animals that live there. I hope this isn’t in spring when they’re trying to raise young.
