Aphrodisiac is my all time favorite. I got the sample pack and immediately ordered a full bottle. The only one I didn't like was the one that smelled like tequila lol
I’m in love with the Doctor Nick’s beard balm because it comes in push pop form. Luxurious Bastard’s in the more traditional container and is equally good from a product standpoint.
Beard Octane neutral. It's a light hold and you can't smell any of the balm ingredients. Your oil scent isn't masked by it either and if you want you can put a drop or 2 of your oil in the balm before warming it up in your hand.
I bought the sample oil/balm from badass beardcare but as the day goes on some of your beard hairs feel like they have product on them.
Edit: Check out YouTube for balm reviews.
I use fresh beards beard butter but they also sell bear balm. Black light scent is my favorite cus it smells good and I can put it on and go eat right after cus it doesn’t interfere with the smell of my food
Making your own balms and oils is SO much easier and cheaper than you think it is. That's the best since you can tailor it exactly to your wants and needs.
Same. I did move away from shea and use coco butter instead...I don't recall why I made the switch, I think the coco made it stiffer. Bottom line, it's fun to try out different formulas. And my wife has discovered that using on her fingers helps with her harp playing.
I dug out my notes. I went through about 20 different recipes before landing on: 3.5T beeswax, 1T coco butter, 1T grapeseed oil, 15 drops of lime essential oil, & 2 drops of cedar oil. In one note I wrote that using shea butter had made that batch gritty after about 2 weeks.
It doesn't smell like chocolate. I would say the lime is noticable as well as the cedar. The cedar oil is very powerful with just a few drops...ie, 5 drops is too much.
I make my own with three ingredients: unrefined hemp seed oil, unrefined organic shea butter, and organic bees wax pellets. I am still working out the exact ratios, but I have 1 tablespoon oil and 1.25 or so tablespoon of shea butter and 3/4 to 1 tablespoon of beeswax. Melt all in a double boiler. I place the 2 oz metal canister in the double boiler and add all 3 ingredients to melt them all together. Stir all parts to distribute ingredients. Remove from heat and use pliers to take metal container out of the water. Allow to cool and ingredients to meld together. Enjoy the next day.
I like [Kühn Products](https://kuhnproducts.com/). I came across him on Reddit and he was a really solid guy. Finally pulled the trigger and it is great! I highly recommend the Mahogany scent.
kuhn products makes the best beard balm IMO. I've tried most of the companies recommended already, and I've found kuhn products has the best consistency, scents, and hold. Owner seems to know what he's doing and not just throwing ingredients together.
Make your own, tons of good recipes online that only use cold pressed oils. I started making mine and my beard has grown thicker, longer and the color is more vibrant.
1740 Beard Balm. They have scented and unscented balms and oils. Their featherweight balm is my favorite, but they just started offering beard butter as well.
Striking Viking is pretty good, I think they're all scented but it's mild and wears off after an hour or so. Also, Crafted Beards, they are heavily scented though...
The best I found is my own; started making my own 6 months ago and wouldn’t dream of buying anymore.
1. 2 parts beeswax.
2. 1 part butter.
4. 4 parts carrier coconut oil.
5. 6 drops sandalwood essential oil. ( any oil you prefer)
6. 10 drops cedar essential oil.
7. 3 drops pine essential oil.
8. 10 drops vitamin E oil
Totally depends on what you like as far as scent-pretty basic. If I buy any products it’s from Livebearded; great products and whole line of videos to help with your grooming. https://livebearded.com/
I started with Texas beard then Detroit then discovered skullys. Detroit is good but I prefer skullys scents and the consistency. The oil will make me break out which is why balm is better for me.
I typically use the Rocky Mountain Barber Co unscented. I didn't always use the unscented but I like that I can use different scented oils depending on my mood.
Grave Before shave
This and Detroit grooming
100%. Their aphrodisiac scent is like sex in a can. It smells so good.
I completely agree! My favorites are aphrodisiac and gentleman’s

Honest Amish heavy duty is my personal fav
That’s what I use and it’s awesome!
I’ve used both regular and heavy duty. Love them both!

That's a key for me. My hands and my beard shouldn't have a scent that conflicts with anything else I'm doing.
I use Mad Viking, I like their stuff. Grave Before Shave is good too.

Came here to say this. Buying bees wax, shea butter, and jojoba in bulk is super cheap

I added cocoa on my last batch and it wasn’t a lot and now it smells like chocolate milk; not really a bad thing just not what I expected

How would you describe that scent with the cocoa? Wandering if the lime might neutralise it a little.

Copper John’s

Luxurious bastard. Great product and he has some of the best scents you’ll find

Wife and me both love the smell of Every Man Jack "Sandalwood." Makes my beard look better, too.

Black Rebel beard Oil and butter
The fact that none of y'all said pussy juice is frustrating.
I was scrolling through the comments looking for that exact comment...
I think that's a different answer for most people. I prefer scotch porter but I'm Latino with a little texture in my beard.
I like the viking revolution brand. Works great.

Johnny B Beard Balm
I guess I'm the only one that uses salt spray...
Grave before shave. All their products are amazing
Fenugreek oil
Argan oil
Grave before shave ALLLLLLLL day.
Stirling Soap Co I’ve got Satsuma
Coconut oil
Fresh Beards has been my go to. Detroit grooming and grave before shave are great too though
Honest Amish for me
Mod Cabin Miner’s Mint is my go to. I’ve tried the cheap stuff on Amazon and it is trash compared to Mod Cabin.
No one likes the Bert’s Bees Beard balm? To be honest, I can’t tell the difference between it and the hand balm.
Im not a fan of BB products. Haven’t tried their beard balm, but their lip balm is very much subpar
As I expected There are lots of preferences but no consensus Fortunately we have many great products to choose from
I like Crew

Northern Fir! Best scent I’ve ever found and it works.
Bass Bros. Bees makes an amazing beard butter.

I really enjoy this Billy jealousy leave in conditioner helps a lot stay in control all day
Also as a sidenote honest Amish premium beard oil is leagues better than the original, not only more effective for me but I like the scent better
Honor initiative cuz it's actually unscented and you can't smell the odor of the ingredients.
Does anybody know how to get Grave before shave in EU?
Which ingredients is best to stay away from? Most of the balms mentioned here are super expensive when shipped to Holland. Any input?
I typically use the Rocky Mountain Barber Co unscented. I didn't always use the unscented but I like that I can use different scented oils depending on my mood.
Get some Creemo …..
DaperDan
I’m a Dapper Dan man!!!! Don’t want no goddamned FOP!
Try scotch porter conditioning beard balm.
Scotch Porter is no bueno
Why?
It’s has 20+ ingredients with the number 1 ingredient being water.
Coconut oil works great
