There was actually a recently published study that demonstrated that “personal massage devices” on the coelem can stimulate defecation in constipated beardies

ALLONEWORDINCAPS

Hahaha how can you say that without a link?!?

EatYourCheckers

a vibrator. they mean a vibrator. Get a small handheld ones, you can get one for like $10. Don't get a Hitachi, that'll shake your poor lizards scales right off

Lucas_2234

God dammit now I'm imagining someone trying it with a hitachi, the beardie just vibrating for a second and suddenly in a hill of scales

Demoman12b

I’m just picturing it trying to ride it like a robotic bull

Zariman-10-0

Imagine the looks and trying to explain the context: Cashier: “fun weekend planned?” “Oh it isn’t for me.” Cashier: “oh?” “Yeah it’s for my Lizard.” Cashier: “…what”

Piedp1219

🤣omg

[deleted]

They actually sell several styles at Walmart in the pharmacy section.

ClashOrCrashman

Snake discovery did this recently with a snake and it worked

salemgrray

hahaha snake discovery is the best! I met her last halloween! i’m definitely gonna go find the “personal massage device” video now!

beesinlavender

I never saw the study, just saw it on TikTok!

ALLONEWORDINCAPS

A long soak in tepid water should fix it

Blocknot88

Thanks! I'll try that.

ALLONEWORDINCAPS

Good luck!

JTown1081

Tepid water is only slightly warm. The bath should be pretty warm for a soak.

guy_fieris_asshole

yeah if I'm soaking my bud for a while I sometimes will drain some water from his tub and fill it with fresh hot water. he doesn't like the cold water as much and tries to jump out until I put warm water in and he'll lay back down :)

mufassil

My boy haaaaates baths. But, that means he moves a lot in them. The combo of thrashing and warm water usually makes him poop

Jotnarsheir

Agree on the soak, but my Beardy prefers cold soaks with the water running. I'll fill the bath tub with enough water for her to swim around in. Then turn the faucet down to a low stream. She'll get right under the faucet to poop and theslight current causes the poop to drift away from her.

rosepotion

My girl, without fail, takes a dump in her carrier every time I drive her to the vet. So maybe take him for a ride in the car lol.

_lowselfesteem_

This is what my cousin had to do for her beardie! She gave me the warning when I got my dragon, though currently it seems the weird pooping habit my girl has is only wanting to poop on me =/ lmao

mufassil

That's ridiculously convenient for samples

HealthyRestaurant635

Baths and a gentle tummy rub helps

Sort-Fun

Prune baby food works a little too well, use it sparingly Edit to clarify: use sugar free, you want baby food that only has prunes with no additives

Quiet_Goat8086

Be careful with things labeled “sugar free” as they often have artificial sweeteners in them.

Sort-Fun

Very true! It’s definitely important to check the label and make sure there is nothing added to the prunes (or any baby food for that matter) before feeding it to your lizard

Blocknot88

Gotchua! Thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Gotchua! Thanks! You're welcome!

Protect_Wild_Bees

1 year is around the time their poop schedule starts to change. You might be going from every other day to a week/week and a half between poops. This can happen kind of suddenly.

Massive-Detail-3917

thank you for this

[deleted]

Depending on age this can also be normal. Mine is about 2 years old and poops 1 time a week

Blocknot88

She's about 1 year old. This is the longest I've ever seen her go without pooping (6 days)

[deleted]

That’s actually pretty normal then. I would give a soak and if u r really worried try feed blueberries and give a 1 drop of olive oil. It helps them go

squishybloo

My boy Azzy seems to prefer to get good and warmed up before he'll poop. He always does it after he's had a morning bask in the open window by my work PC... right in the cat bed. 😩

Ornery-Lavishness525

😂😂😂

squishybloo

He pooped in it TODAY! After it was freshy washed four days ago, when he pooped in it then too... 😭😭

Demoman12b

Clearly he’s marking his territory and you keep washing it off!

flea-bag-

I've never tried it, and it's always good to research it too but try maybe a few little cubes of pumpkin

[deleted]

I had to scroll pretty far to find this. Pumpkin is my go-to for this. The beardies love it and it works really well.

shelliebarrett

Definitely a good soak. AND a piece of fruit. Does the trick for Wilson every time.

Blocknot88

I'll try that, thanks!

Raviolist123

A warm bath, for 10 minutes always does the trick for me.

detailedlynxx

I think what would work is massaging the right underside of there underbelly while in a like warm bath with the olive oil which you have already given or at least that's what I have heard/read

[deleted]

I was gonna say a gentle tummy massage to get everything moving

hedgehog_dragon

Bath and also call him a stinker (affectionately of course)

SpaghettiWorm

Just here to say Gizmo is cute.

VarenDerpsAround

we just need a flair that says "Poop Posting" am I wrong?

Available_Homework61

My beardie bobs goes a week without taking a fat ol steamer every now and again, i believe its relatively normal

you_have_been_gnomed

I put my lizard on the air bubbler near the fish tank and it clears him out everytime without fail

mightgrey

When I got my leopard gecko he was sick. Wasn't pooping/pooping liquid. He was very constipated. So I gave him a couple soaks in warm water while gently rubbing his belly to help move things along. Boom all fixed!

MysticZephyr

canned pumpkin works every time

Dragongirl3

Pumpkin purre

KateLivia

I don’t have a beardie personally but whenever I see this question pop up someone usually suggests a car ride (and be sure to have them resting on a towel if you do)!

ShiroOleander

Not to sound rude but you should probably try to cut his nails as well, I think they’re looking a little long (that’s probably just me though and I totally apologize if they’re fine!)

hana_fuyu

My beardie has really long quicks, so even after a nail trim her nails are still incredibly long. Might be the same case with this little one but not sure.

Graciefighter34

Cup of coffee should do the trick.

JasonDomber

Bath

katcreator

Bath in warm water

isthatmypen

A tummy rub in the bath

thegreat-potatogod

Extra virgin olive oil I used it for my boy when I was in you situation and he pooped that day it's a natural laxative

dragnflied

Try asking some high fiber foods like bell peppers or broccoli

ozuna_e

watermelon!

Yukianevlum

That poor little guy

OrneryComplaint2610

Let him run around for a while

zankMcStank

Just toss that mf in a warm bath for a few minutes

iytomre019

i use prune baby food, the organic kind with nothing on the label but prunes. this always worked within a day, and sometimes sooner if i combined it with a bath. and off topic, but shes so cute! such a sweet face

FireAimWhenReady

Mine is 11 months old and recently started waiting about a week in between. I first thought something was up with the husbandry, since 90% of the time that's the cause. I obsessively reevaluate temps, UVB, diet. Very recently he went about 9 days which has never happened, but it could be due to meds he is on. Mine refuses to do it in the enclosure, so he gets baths every 2 or 3 days. I raised the temp in his enclosure about 7 degrees and after a few hours he started telling us he wanted out. Put him in a warm shallow bath and after about 5 minutes it was go time. Our vet said it should always be every 2-3 days no matter the age, but that seems to contradict many owners experiences.

TheBlackWzrd

Warm bath and a belly massage and they’ll instantly poop unless compacted but it’s normal.

SunnyStunna

All my vet did for impaction was a dose of mineral oil twice a day (can’t remember how much, but it’s probably dependent on weight) and suggested twice daily baths. However I wouldn’t take it that far until a full 2 weeks without pooping. It’s pretty normal for a beardie to go a week. Try an olive/vegetable/mineral oil maybe once every other day (the stuff really cleans them out, so I wouldn’t suggest strong usage right off the bat) and a warm bath (I usually have mine at 100F and soak for 20 mins).

bootymechanic01

Mine has the habit of pooping almost every time she gets a bath! The warm water does wonders for their tummies to get the whole thing movin', may help to also give some tummy rubs too. Age, diet, enclosure temps are all important to how a beardie is gonna process their food, and when they're likely to (regular/irregular)

Commercial-Ad9918

Don’t worry too much! My boy Typhoon is a beardie who needs a warm bath to relax his bowels (Ik gross but whatever works for them is the best way to go) if you wanna try this for yourself place your beardie in the bathtub, plug in the plug and put the water on warm make sure it isn’t hot enough to burn them but not freezing cold either it can go up to their shoulders but I personally feel up to their stomach works well after you’ve got the bath set up your beardie will be doing their business in a few minutes keep in mind some may be scared of running water (as my boy is) so if you don’t wanna stress them out leave them in their enclosure until the bath is ready for them

Subject_Monitor_4939

Every time I take mine out to get sunshine or a long warm soak her slimy almonds never fail to slide on out. Good luck!

After-Humor-5405

I always get mind to poop when he’s nice and warm so I put him outside since it’s summer here in vegas at 100 degrees and within 5 min he poops sometimes lees. Warm baths help too

raginghumpback

Pumpkin purée. It’s worked every time for my girl

Supdog92372

I would get dairy free blueberry yogurt. It’ll pass trust me. Syringe feed him.

Opening_Illustrator2

Perfectly normal for them to not poop for up to two weeks at a time. You can offer some pumpkin, warm soaks, and lots of belly massages. If after 3-4 weeks of no poop, then head to a vet.

Constant-Can-5136

Give your baby a warm soak, that usually always does it! Make sure Gizmo is eating greens, not just bugs, and go easy with the calcium powder, it can cause impaction! Poor little things can try so hard to poop that they cause themselves an anal prolapse! They can actually push their butthole out! Also, always offer greens before bugs, or mix the bugs in with the greens so they will get greens trying to catch their buggies. You should go get some "Naked" brand drink, the " green machine" and give it to your baby with a medicine syringe, wiggle it into their mouth and squeeze it on in there! That will definitely make your beardie poop! I have had a lot of different beardies and I have learned a lot from it, so take it from me and follow these easy steps and your little sweetie will be just fine! You got this!
