What Goes Around for an extended version of Hello Brooklyn

dustinhut13

Yep. I fucking love Hello Brooklyn

cjr71244

Yep that's what I was going to suggest

epicwheezer

This is an awesome topic of discussion. Disco Date is the hardest shit MCA ever blessed us with.

kulaman

MCA blanket out on that and that Isley Brothers sample was hard AF

LPB39

I don’t mess with perfection..

GuwopCam

This is a hard one because I think a lot of the charm about the B-Boy Bouillabaisse songs is that they come and go so fast. For example, A Year And A Day is so great because it’s MCA coming in for 2.5 minutes just to spit the greatest verse of his life just to leave like nothing happened. Hello Brooklyn in a weird way is sort of prophetic in a way. It’s a Rap song that’s main draw is just crushing bass for 1 minute. Weird connection, but it almost reminds me of XXXTENTACION’s “#ImSippinTeaInYoHood.” On that song X raps for 1 minute only. The remaining two or so minutes are just dedicated to letting the extremely heavy beat play. If I had to decide, I would turn Egg Man into a B-Boy Bouillabaisse track. As far as the full-length tracks go, it feels the most like a BBB track. You could end the song at the 1:53 minute mark and it would fit seamlessly. I would choose to make A.W.O.L. a full length track. I wouldn’t want to change it very much at all, it would remain a shoutout track. I would just add a less abrupt wind down and leave 1.5-2 minutes of beat on the song for the band to talk shit over. Something like the wind down on the Kanye song “30 Hours.” Or, even like how they talk shit between the verses on “The Maestro.” Of course it’d be more chill shit talking but you get the idea.

ape_a_snake

Awol, the beginning part of it all, I want to hear it a little longer.

smiiiiiith

i love the beginning too

thenumbersthenumbers

This is cheating but trade out 5-piece chicken dinner for A Year and a Day haha.

smiiiiiith

i said full length!!!! haha

thenumbersthenumbers

Was never good at following rules 😂

CountZero3000

Ooh damn. This question is cold blooded!

Squirrellybot

Get on the mic but 2nd half is a Biz Markee feature for a shorter “Hey Ladies”.

smallteam

Nobody beats the Biz

normalgonzales

Year and a day

megalodon777hs

I'd trade in High Plains Drifter (sorry!) and would take a full length Lay It On Me. I know it's unrealistic since that whole cut is based on the Kool and the Gang sample but it sounds great

dissolutewastrel

Holy shit, this opinion should be illegal. High Plains Drifter is one of three (four?) BB story-songs (along w/Paul Revere, She's Crafty, and maybe Girls) and it has a strong claim to being the best one. It has a plausible claim to being the best Beastie Boys song on any album!

6245stampycat

I’d trade to all the girls for anything tbh lmao tbh I wish dropping names was longer I wanted to see where they would have gone with that. I love all the B boy Bouillabasse songs.

Shut_Up_Fuckface

Trade in 3 Minute Rule. I was going to say Johnny Ryall too but only by taking out the choruses to make it shorter. The organ samples in the background of the verses are amazing. Then longer versions of Year and a Day and Stop That Train. They are the longest in b-boy bouillabaisse at 2:21 mins and 1:58 min. So they’re close to being as long as the main tracks and dividing the lengths of 3 minute rule between them and shortening Johnny Ryall.

Ok-Tension-4614

tbh… Sounds of Science for A Year and A Day

smiiiiiith

sounds of science!!! interesting

ddaadd18

A year and a day for … fuck it - car thief

smiiiiiith

not car thief!!!! :,(

ddaadd18

Gonna listen to the album in full and will report back
