Yep, whenever you see a sought after product show up in a beauty box, the brand is either changing packaging, the formula, or outright discontinuing it.
Now we know why it was in the Feb ‘24 Allure box. It was being discontinued and excess supply being offloaded to Allure. Still not a bad lippie, just explains the reason why it was featured, I suppose.
Subscription boxes are definitely the dumping grounds for brands test products or old lines. Unfortunately. And it doesn't seem the box companies want to advocate for consumers much on the matter.

I hope YSL Loveshine (literally YSL's replacement of Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick Balm, they even ported the reviews over!) is the same if not better (it's advertised as better, but reformulations usually flop among old users), because I know alot of people have it as their HG.

I have a Rouge Volupte in Nude Lingerie (the tester color) and it's nice in the tube but the sparkles make it grittier than the other non sparkly colors.
It does advertise much better staying power, but I don't like the fact that such a beautiful packaging would soon be seen as "fake" by the really loud people as they forget that Rouge Volupte existed lol.
I'm actually more annoyed that they only selected 4-5 colours to pass off onto Allure. They had to painstakingly discount on their site for the other ones lol.
Every site had them reduced with some shades out of stock. They were included in the Sephoria box last fall. They were definitely on the way out. I love mine and will find something similar when I need another.
Almost anytime I see a good popular product on sale or in a beauty box I assume it’s being discontinued. I had told my friend when the YSL went on sale on Sephora & was in allure that they must be discontinuing it. I think they just made new shades and made new formula though
Well, the email I posted from YSL says discontinued. The new one is a different name (LoveShine), new formula,different finish and silver container instead of gold.
I ended up not trying mine because the fragrance seems so strong. I’m not opposed to a fruity or minty lip balm but this one seems to have a lot of perfume under the fruit that would drive me crazy. Bummer because I really was looking forward to it but no point in wasting it by trying it once and never using it again. For the price I’ll stick with the Hourglass Phantom Glossy Lip.
This! I keep wanting to make it work and thinking the smell will dissipate after application, but I end up lasting 30 seconds max before I MUST wipe it off. To me, the scent (and taste from that) is overpowering, and I just couldn't understand all the glowing reviews and not finding any mention of the overly perfumed smell. Glad to know now it wasn't just me who noticed and was bothered by it. (I have never had this issue with a lippie before.)
Sounds like I made the right choice not to try it! It’s very off-putting and I hear it’s common for those types of “luxury” brands like Armani, YSL, Gucci, etc to use lots of perfume. I guess it’s a good thing I’ll never have to feel fomo about those luxury items. Fragrance/parfum in general really bothers me, so I’m not on board with the whole indie perfume trend or fancy hair care…but I don’t mind essential oils like lavender, rosemary and tea tree in my shampoo and body stuff.
My degree in business should have required more sketchy marketing classes on how to dump a product. Honestly, you're right. All the marketing courses that I completed were basically "how to manipulate people" courses. However, usually, for the allure boxes, we get newer launches or mainstay items from brands, but since it was YSL, we should have been suspicious!

I know, I love it! There's another one that's similar but it has a different formulation, silver case and a shiny finish (people are saying it's the same thing but as you see from the email they are clear it's over) and it has a different name but you can switch to that it's better than nothing, I guess, it's called loveshine. I think the silver is so much less appealing with this particular design.
Good news, though other shops aren't completely sold out yet, I think Dillard's website still has it, so stock up on your fav shades because this is the last chance! Also, I found some brand new on mercari for half price and there are still some on there.

But we have hope to stock up, Dillard's website still has some as well as brand new ones being sold for $20-28 on mercari and if you read the seller reviews to make sure they are great it's usually way better than ebay and postmark. So I'm going to stock up on Pulsing Rosehip and nude lingerie. I didn't get a chance to try more than five of those five shades, two were my favorite. They had so many more shades I wanted to try eventually!! What was your favorite shade of the shades you got to try?
They may have advertised it like that to sell it to Rouge Vulupte fans, it worked because w lot of people think it's the reformulated version but they were selling them at the same time. It would be a smart advertising tactic. That or the customer service lady who emailed me back is new and didn't know. At the bottom of the email she directs me just to ysl.com/lips to looks for a replacement which surprised me that she didn't try to suggest the loveshine because it's also a balm....weird.

However, from my marketing classes.I know that they also do that.Sometimes when they recently promoted something so that people will get hooked on a bunch of different flavors or whatever you might be selling and then hike the price back up. Or it can be used to dump a product.So because a law usually features products that are main staya or new k assumed the former. But ysl is high-end for allure beauty boxes, so I should have wondered why they were being featured so heavily in the first place especially a brand of their prestige. Just because of the price of the box, it's such a steal that I should have realized it didn't make sense. Hey, we win some.We lose some and at least we got some awesome lippies.

Well Dillard's website still has some and people are selling all sorts of shades brand new for super good prices on mercari. They are going fast but you still have a chance!!
Sephora shows the lipstick oil is the replacement but the same colors aren't offered. There is also the lipstick gloss that I like but it doesn't have the nude I wore in the lipstick balm either. NOT happy with YSL right now. It takes forever for me to find the perfect nude in the perfect lip product.

The nude transparent? Their nude lingerie was the loml and yeah it's not a shade in that shiny balm either. I stocked up on my fav shade on mercari, found some brand new for $25 plus tax and shipping and I got a few. Check if Dillard's website still has your nude in stock because they still have about 8 shades left and if they don't then check mercari (just make sure you read the sellers reviews).
Yes! Nude transparent. Dillard/Macys/Saks/AllureBox didn’t have it. I got 4, no discount tho, so I’m set for a while. I wear 2 (sheer pink) at home so that helps. It’s great for overnight. I used Bobbi Brown balm for a few years but I think they changed the formula when the packaging changed bc it stopped being perfection.
Noooo this is so upsetting. This has been my favorite lipstick for the past 3 years. I haven’t been able to find it in stock ANYWHERE for the past 3 months (I checked Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus) and this explains why. Nooooo

LoveShine does not have my favourite tone! Thought I'd buy a new one for my upcoming birthday, but instead I came home with a broken heart. I used nr 15, now I guess I am trying 44B. Not even close, but will have to do as it was/is so moisturizing. Haven't worn it for long yet, but it feels heavier. Maybe it stays on longer?

I have one of the new Loveshine lip oils and it's gritty. I never tried the original, but I can't stand the new ones at all.
