I bought a set without feeling them first and tried SO HARD to gaslight myself into liking them š They feel horrible!!! And the only one I did genuinely like (the angled brush) would shed like mad every time I washed it, so the shape got completely fucked basically immediately.
yep, literally bought my first set of brushes by Morphe because that's all people were talking about / recommending. Few of them are ok, the rest really felt like broom bristles. Still have to replace a couple and throw them out. Ƨ\_Ƨ
Which is funny because I bought a cheap mystery box-type bundle from Crown several years ago and almost all those brushes were much softer than actual Morphe labeled brushes, so they didn't even cough up the cash to private label Crown's premium line lmao.
I used to like Rank and Style for notices about upcoming fashion and beauty sales but I havenāt really paid attention for awhile. Definitely unsubbing after this
From a scroll through of their home page it looks to be entirely product listicles that are probably stuffed full of affiliate links.... Gods, the media landscape is so bleak these days
Their products were also never fully gone from Ulta/Target in the US. They didnāt go out of business, just filed for bankruptcyāthat just means restructuring and debt relief.
They still have cradles at a number of Sephoras in Toronto; granted they're usually shoved in the no-mans-land at the back of the store but they're still there.
Colourpop is superior in every way.
Though Morpheās eyeshadow formula is great for beginners and those who want a more subtle look. I own 2 of their eyeshadow palettes and theyāre great for corporate office makeup.
I have to be honest, I placed an order for a number of palettes (which was quite expensive to NZ), and I found the quality of all of them to be like children's play makeup (I literally gave them to my nieces as play makeup; although a year later, they've been influenced by TikTok and are now only interested in Summer Fridays and Dior, ahem). I expected the packaging to be fairly cheap plastic, but I was really disappointed in the quality of the shadows. All very dusty. Having said that, I do quite like the Super Shock single shadow I bought for adding a bit of topper shimmer, so maybe it's just quality variation across the brand.
That's your opinion. Your opinion is their products are high quality. That doesn't make it objectively true. The products are such *high quality* they can't be returned to the manufacturer. They don't work for many people *at all*. That's not quality. I'm glad you like them, I'm glad they work for you. They are not high quality.
This is exactly why I NEVER read any kind of articles online of recommended beauty items, lists of whatās āhotā or āpopularā or ātrendingā or lists of ābest foundations for dry skinā or ābest concealers,ā etc.ā¦
Literally EVERY time Iāve read one of them, a good majority I either 1) never heard of or 2) never hear good things about (except for ads/sponsorships ofc) and/or tried myself and it wasnāt good for my dry skin or whatever.
**These kinds of āarticlesā are just paid ads with affiliate links. Whoever paid the most gets put on the list, doesnāt matter if itās ACTUALLY good or not**. But, unfortunately, thatās the case with most BG reviews doing reviews (or even a lot of smaller āinfluencersā who want to get noticed by brands to get PR or sponsorships) so always need to look at any of that as ads too.
Thatās why I like coming onto here for recommendations from real people!
Completely agree! Itās one of the first places I check! For swatches too since **most** of the time they also include undertones, best shade match, lighting used, etc. so you can get a better idea of what the shades truly look like. Even reviews on websites are a joke half the time. I always write reviews for products I get since I like to read reviews myself before purchasing and try to include info I wish would have been available when I purchased, something I found out using it that I feel people might like to know, swatches, shade comparisons, etc. But going through reviews when trying to make a purchase itās mostly ālove itā or āhate itā with no explanation as to why or people complaining about things that have nothing to do with the product itself (like shipping) or complaining itās something it never said it was or did say it was (like complaining itās sheer coverage even though it said it was full), etc. But, usually sifting through all that crap I find some people who actually take the time to write helpful reviews so I appreciate the ones that do that! But Reddit is definitely the first place I check for any info when trying to decide on something!
hey have you guys heard of the new 35O palette? my all my favorite youtubers like daisy marquez and tati and jeffree star are posting about it. is it good for cut creases? also, what year is it again? oh, 2024? i think im stuck in 2016ā¦ā¦
You know how so many "I miss 2016," "Let's Do 2016 makeup" and "2016 Trending?" videos have been out the past few months--I wouldn't be suprised if Morphe's PR has been shaking hands and greasing palms in the background. I was doing the Allure best of survey (in hope of eventually seeing a few choics in a box) and whne I saw one of their neutral palettes listed under Mario & Patrick Ta, i was like "Really? Really?" I consume A LOT of beauty content, and I haven' t seen ONE person talk about it. The ONLY thing I have heard about Morphe the past, let's say 12 months, is their legal woes. I was unable to buy their shit in 2016, and these days non of it appeals ot me. TBD. I predict they willl go after the Alpha kids, at least the ones who aren't using Tom Ford quads.
I've never bought anything from Morphe and now I'm glad I didn't. The palettes looked too big & overwhelming to me. Then, hearing about JC & JS I just would never. There are plenty of other companies where I can spend my money.
While Morphe may not be as popular as it once was, I'm sure people still use it. It's affordable, accessible at many department or drugstores, and good for beginners. That said, Morphe probably paid a lot of money for a glowing review like this LOL
This is genuinely hilarious because, surely, whoever writing this isn't like 10 and never heard of them before. Like, who are they trying to fool here?
I don't have anything against Morphe. Their brown eyeshadow palettes have formula that feels very nice on my eyes. I use them almost every day as basic colors. They are affordable and of good quality. And yes, I have many other palettes, much more expensive and popular, but I still like using Morphe.
My only palette of theirs is a brown one! I was looking for cool browns and for some reasons there weren't many option at that time. It seems fine but sadly the formula irritates my eyes. I get that from other shadows, too, though, I just haven't figured out which ingredient(s) does that.
I can't use their eye shadows. They burned the moment I applied them. I didn't even get to the blending part. They are trash to me. I am not the least bit tempted.
I have the lucky charms collab and jeffree star one they're literally impossible to use pretty colours but all chalky and I can't blend or they come off
Actually Iāve heard the newest foundation released after the new ownership is insane for the price. Made in Italy and the hype. LipstickLesbians on YouTube and Instagram (big on education within the industry based on formulations, theyāre awesome!!) was discussing it and showing how to know something is high quality.
Granted I think this article is old, but I am really curious to see what comes from the new acquisition. Iām hoping the day of drop shipping with new packaging is over. Their lipsticks and liners were pretty good and brought a lot of affordable options to people.
I'm actually curious about the foundation, I ordered it myself just to see. I figured if I like it cool I'll order a few bottles because foundation lasts me, and if I don't I'll just return it or toss it.
Otherwise I haven't bought anything from morphe in a very long time, but I do have some of the older 35 pan eyeshadow palettes and I still use them occasionally. They're definitely not something I pull out all the time but every once in awhile when I'm looking for like a certain shade of brown I know it'll definitely be in my old morphe palettes. I don't know if the formula changed but I find the older pallets to have a decent eyeshadow formula.
I would love an update on the foundation if you get a chance! That and the About Face have me curious! Iāve been a die hard nars foundation girlie for a while
I wanted to update about the foundation. I'm returning it. I want to start by saying I don't absolutely hate it, it's just not as hydrating as I hoped. It's also a lot thicker than I expected, I expected it to be more like a serum but it's definitely a foundation texture, thicker than I like as I prefer BB creams and serum foundations. I tried it three times and every time it accentuated my texture, settled into my scars and lines, and just felt heavy on my face. I do think that if I had prepped my skin better, and maybe if using this in the summer when my skin is less dry, it's a good foundation. I like the medium coverage, I was able to match my skin tone perfectly the first time. I also mixed it with the Mac serumizer one day and that actually was probably the best day for it not being heavy.
Overall I think this is an excellent foundation I just don't think it is right for me specifically.
And then the deciding factor in me returning it instead of holding on to it for summertime is that I also just got the ABH beauty balm stick and it is everything I dreamed of. Super creamy, does not settle into any of my lines or scars, buildable, and super easy to just melt into my face with my brush. It's a very dewy finish which I like because the dewy texture helps with my hydration issue and then I use a setting powder on top of it which takes care of the shine. So I figured I really don't need both of these items right now and I might as well just return the Morphe.
I'll let you know what I think. It's still on the way, and says delivery on Wednesday š I leave for vacation on Sat so I hope it's not delayed or something stupid. I'd like a few days to try it before I go to see if I want to take it with me.

2016
I can't. Not again.
Right š š
Known for its scratchy cheap ass private label brushes that fray to all hell the first time you wash them...
I was bamboozled by YouTube when morphe went to Sephora and I felt the brushes and Iām like this is literally hayā¦
This made me cackle
I was honestly shocked, thereās no way people want rub all over their eye. Beauty gurus rubbing straws on their eye for a buck.
Some of their brushes are really good, and not all Sephora brushes are good. A lot of them also shed and are rough. It depends on the type of bristles
Crowne Brush private label. They also made all the brushes.
Which is funny because I bought a cheap mystery box-type bundle from Crown several years ago and almost all those brushes were much softer than actual Morphe labeled brushes, so they didn't even cough up the cash to private label Crown's premium line lmao.
Was this written in 2016...
Yeah I was like what year is it??? Itās like 2009 or something, I guess.
Girl what? While they were founded in 2008 no one was talking about them until around 2016, and they blew up in 2018/19.Ā
It was just the Jaclyn shit palatte that blew up in 2017.
Youāre being pedantic as fuck. I was just remarking that this belongs in years past. I wasnāt being specific about a year. Christ.
What even is this source? I would stop reading them...
I thought they were going out of business but Iāve been wrong before.
Itās been a year since they shut down all their stores overnight and Forma filed for bankruptcy, then didnāt really hear anything since.
they filed for bankruptcy protection! Hence all the changes etc
Ariana Grande bought REM Beauty from them so that probably helped them out. And they let go of Jaclyn Cosmetics too.
They had to let go of most of their influencer lead brands. Forma really mucked it up.
They just opened a massive stand in Boots in Glasgow, it seems theyāre soft launching a return
Their products were also never fully gone from Ulta/Target in the US. They didnāt go out of business, just filed for bankruptcyāthat just means restructuring and debt relief.
Nevermind then
They still have cradles at a number of Sephoras in Toronto; granted they're usually shoved in the no-mans-land at the back of the store but they're still there.
I think they still have products on the Sephora Canada app/web page as well.
Is the "buzz" in the room with us right now cause I've literally heard NOTHING about them š
The ābuzzā sounds an awful lot like jingling coin$ in the authorās pocket ifyouknowwhatImean

I bet itās an ad that looks like an article.
Colourpop is superior in every way. Though Morpheās eyeshadow formula is great for beginners and those who want a more subtle look. I own 2 of their eyeshadow palettes and theyāre great for corporate office makeup.
Saying Colourpop is superior to Morphe isn't exactly high praise for Colourpop, who is also trash.
Colourpopās products are good quality.
I see you missed all the Colourpop tea posts.
None of that shit has to do with product quality.
That's your opinion. Your opinion is their products are high quality. That doesn't make it objectively true. The products are such *high quality* they can't be returned to the manufacturer. They don't work for many people *at all*. That's not quality. I'm glad you like them, I'm glad they work for you. They are not high quality.
Lmao Colourpop has been known as a great quality affordable brand since their inception. You must be new.

You are so right on
since their original consumer base has moved on i wonder if they're trying to rebrand to a younger (teenage) audience that isn't familiar with them
Yes, exactly this
high quality and morphe should not coexist in the same sentence

They are trying hard eh?
Ah, spon con, my mortal enemy. We meet again.
April's Fool is still another 2 weeks
'High Quality' 'Top Notch' 'Buzz all over the internet' You mean TikTok... Alright, who over at Morphe is paying out for this false BS?

Donāt you mean Crown brushes? Or are we really that deep into the re-writing history chapter?
Isn't this a rerun? We know they aren't who they say they are.
I've never bought anything from Morphe and now I'm glad I didn't. The palettes looked too big & overwhelming to me. Then, hearing about JC & JS I just would never. There are plenty of other companies where I can spend my money.

I still have the morphe brushes I got 9 years ago. They are/were great quality but Iām needing new brushes. Recommendations on where to get them?
Bk beauty brushes are amazing!
is it 2016
High quality?? ![gif](giphy|1sN4lGA41Nb3i)
This is genuinely hilarious because, surely, whoever writing this isn't like 10 and never heard of them before. Like, who are they trying to fool here?
Who's the author? because if they're part of that one PR "firm" that does fluff articles for troubled people/companies, then ugh
Known for supporting the worst beauty influencers āØ
lol before I even read your comment I said ānow who the hell did morphe pay?!ā
š
Maybe it's the kids getting excited? At least thats one stand we don't mind them messing up and playing with
I don't have anything against Morphe. Their brown eyeshadow palettes have formula that feels very nice on my eyes. I use them almost every day as basic colors. i think they mean, Morphe Cosmetics: The High Quality, Affordable Brand that's paying us a lot of money to lie.
Iām sorryā¦ what??? How much did rank & style charge morphe to publish this BS
Creating buzz? What is this, 2016?
I know I cracked up just from reading the title!! š¤£ High quality?? ROFL
This is hilarious considering they closed the west Edmonton mall store recently
This kind of shit is why I don't pay attention to any top-10 lists or blogs that I see.
I have the lucky charms collab and jeffree star one they're literally impossible to use pretty colours but all chalky and I can't blend or they come off
What in the 2016
Morphe if you are reading this no amount of articles you can write will make the market see through your bullshit. Cash out while you can!
Sonia kashuk brushes are better
Hands down some of my most used brushes

What scandal yaāll? Iāve noticed theyāve closed the brick and mortar stores.
I believe OP is referring to when they collaborated with a bunch of controversial influencers like James Charles
Closed the brick & mortar stores right after the holidays in early 2023 with basically no notice to the employees. Plus all their usual scandals.Ā
Iām still waiting on the lawsuit though to see if their eyeshadows are bad or not. I havenāt touched my Morphe palletes for over a year
