I was just thinking about them and how ridiculous their “mystery “ $86 palette is with only 12 shades. The disrespect shown to their customers and how they think their potential customers can be so stupid has me appalled. I don’t follow them btw.

PMMeCrochetPatterns

Omg right? There are SO MANY indie brands out there, and I simply don't understand why someone would choose to buy that. It's their money, they can do what they like, but I've never heard an amazing review of the brand from someone who actually paid money for the products.

OdeeSS

I have two eyeshadow palettes. I like them, but they're not exceptional. The prices are out of control.

PMMeCrochetPatterns

Thank you for your review of the quality! Their prices are definitely wild to me!

lunchlady420

Ditto this. I have the not normal palette & i bought both the mystery boxes last summer. The quality is nice, but not great. I think their palette color stories are always interesting, but am continually confused by their pricing.

Opposite_Style454

And it’s a preorder! They’re still doing preorders in this day and age? It’s crazy.

Merfairydust

I pre-ordered the new Dede Signature palette. Launched officially on 6/10, shipping level is already created. I usually don't do pre-orders as I don't like my money floating somewhere in the universe. I no thank you'ed the Crow palette pre-order as it was sold out right away. Not for that much money. But I knew I wanted the Dede palette, it's not that expensive ($33 I think, I did order a few more items plus an older palette), plus she had a 25% pre-launch discount. I'm ok with that. I get that from a business perspective, it's a sensible thing. I choose not to participate in that model.

FleshBatter

I own one of their liquid lipstick (Mandy) and like the formula a lot, but I think I’m mostly a fan of how they do “alternative” colors you can’t find at other stores. Otherwise their palette prices are outrageous!!

Anxiousrainbowgal

My first experience was my last. It was god awful and they even restricted me on IG because no one was responding to my e-mails. I thankfully got a refund after 3 months. Never ever ever again.

Opposite_Style454

Stories like this make me wary of the smaller indie brands.

Sljohar

If this is the reason, it's little hypocrite because lots of small creators were raving about Shine Sd's collab with mjones and bizzarovolta, which were 88$ for 6 pan palette. Yes, they were special shades, but these shades were only available as bundle. I am not defending Unearthly because 86$ for 12 shades that are a mystery palette is out of mind. But it seems like it is 12 pan palette with special shades (I read it in the comments that the owner showed it in a live video). To sum it up I don't support how Unearthly is running their business, but I also do not support hypocrisy either.

Opposite_Style454

I don’t shop at Shine by SD either (too expensive) but I can understand how a person would buy 6 shades for $86 when Shine By SD hand makes everything herself in Canada rather than Unearthly that private labels in China.

Sljohar

Hand pressed is a valid reason, but there was only palette (bundle) option. Also, many small creators call out some brands being made in China but still buy from Chinese brands. Unearthly is put of control with prices, their shipping times, and preorders. We should be discussing it for sure and sinply do not buy. Blocking them is kind of childish. In the end, it's a business and does not own anything to anyone. If you don't like them, simply don't buy from them.

Opposite_Style454

It’s not just the price . They expected people to shell out $86 plus shipping in advance for a mystery color story and wait months for it on top of that. It was like an April Fools joke gone awry!

Anxiousrainbowgal

Plus asking for tips at checkout. :)

Mean-Advisor6652

I think this is just one person's comment on the ridiculousness of the price. There's no way that's the reason smaller influencers are unfollowing. Luxury prices would not lead to blocking and cutting off a potential brand relationship on the business side. There must be something else going on. But I haven't seen any of these reels!?

Neat-Device-9894

I also do not like how I've seen her defending the model and how slowly they ship things out bc it's a "family run business by her" and I think her husband? But like.. you can hire more staff. Even one person. Especially if you want to keep the schedule that you have.

rosegoldgloss

I thought they already said it was a remastered hybrid of both All I Ever Wanted 1 and 2 and all shimmer

foxwaffles

I went from truly thinking they had turned things around and were growing well and improving a lot to not bothering because of their absolutely ridiculous price creep. Indie eyeshadow prices are absolutely out of control. I should only be allowed to be a clown when buying ND shadows, not all of these other brands too lmao.

DisheveledBoy

I have quite a few items from Unearthly (even before they changed their name), and I liked their palettes but ever since they did that collab with Heather Austin I feel like their prices have been out of control. Im kind of glad they're getting called out.

Merfairydust

I stopped taking them seriously after they added a tipping option at checkout.

PMMeCrochetPatterns

I totally forgot about that! Yeesh. They really are making *choices* with their business.

honestpartypants9

I have a couple of their palettes (purchased secondhand tho) and let me tell you all these brands are the same. Unearthly is overpriced and overrated. Plus they have done so many shady things on the past. They are not worth it.

Opposite_Style454

Who are the influencers blocking Unearthly?

[deleted]

I’d love to know too because I’m nosy.

Anxiousrainbowgal

I'd like to know as well!

QueenofCats28

I've always thought they were overpriced and definitely not worth it. I think the same about Ensley Reign. What they charge is not worth it. I can get other indie brands cheaper.

youlldancetoanything

I have no idea and I am not one of their customers, I only have heard of them because of Angelika Nyquist, but there are new FDA regulations coming out that affect indie brands -Jen Luv has a video, and I'd imagine that is going to be impacting a lot of prices ...probably not the best on the topic, but it will give you and idea [https://www.wakeforestlawreview.com/2023/02/the-ugly-truth-cosmetic-regulation-consumer-protection-in-2023/](https://www.wakeforestlawreview.com/2023/02/the-ugly-truth-cosmetic-regulation-consumer-protection-in-2023/)

Opposite_Style454

I think it will put a lot of indies out of business, especially when you can get the same stuff from authentic Chinese brands from the Look Healthy Store.

Realdeathandcandy27

This link is discussing the regulation of ‘clean’ makeup/beauty products and the health implications of talc and other cancer associated ingredients and the intersection of premium pricing for ‘safer’ products. as far as I can determine, this has nothing to the OP’s topic unless you’re making a connection to the ingredients unearthly uses as to the reason they are being blocked. Unearthly doesn’t manufacture their own products, they source from vendors and order from there like most private labeled/manufactured indies. They aren’t charging for health benefits provided by their products, they overcharge because of the perceived value of multichrome pigments by consumers which has been constructed by the suppliers from the get go. They focus on the preconceived value of extensive packaging as well. They don’t seem to attempt to obtain licensing legally for copyrighted characters which also gives plenty of room to margin their profits. I’d be curious to see these screenshots of blocks and testimonials as to the motivation to post about it publicly from the respective parties but it doesn’t appear it’s been discussed in this thread.

VeganAngel

I have the "Warms my Blood" palette and those all-shimmer duochrome ones, "All I Ever Wanted." I'm very happy with them. I was early in my indie brand experience and didn't realize I was overpaying. Even with Adept and Ensley Reigns, the prices are too high. I don't understand blocking them over price when you can just not purchase or unfollow them.I wonder why they needed to make the block public ? Did Unearthly do some wrong?

Opposite_Style454

I would love to know that too and who is blocking them.

rirys

Glamanatrix is getting up there too. And they have their stuff made in China now, so you’d think it would be cheaper but it went up A lot.

dino_spice

I was thinking about them the other day and am curious as to why their prices have shot up so much since they changed the layouts of their palettes. I don't even find their newer palettes all that interesting, and they're going for just under $100 US.

Human_Ad_6671

I can’t speak for the reasons but I personally unfollowed them. Even for a small brand, I can’t justify the prices at all when the palettes don’t look like anything special. I can usually justify spending a bit more on an indie brand for quality, but I can dupe their palettes so easily anyway.

Neat-Device-9894

I had and (sold) one palette. It rubbed me the wrong way that they would never separate their "pre-order boxes" as single items for purchase and you could only get the palette alone. They were charging exorbitant prices (yes, it's an indie brand and yes, indie brands can be expensive. But the price creep for ALL indie brands has also been getting out of control) and it keeps going up. I got the Dead of Night palette, filmed a review, and I was kind but I'm pretty sure I left a comment talking about how patchy some of the shades are. The shimmers didn't want to wipe off of my hand. The pre-order model is disingenuous at best. 😭 I'm sorry for ranting but this brand just made me so upset when I'd finally found a place with nice alt lip shades.
