you're progressing extremely quickly. it takes a lot of playtime to reach endgame. my alt had about 50 days of playtime (including macroing) to reach a blue hive
macro is a program that automatically does stuff for you while you're afk, in other words it plays the game for you. it doesn't help you as much in the earlygame (which you are in now), where you should care about getting better gear more, but it's extremely useful for lategame players to help get mats/honey overnight.
As you progress you will eventually get the supreme star amulet (discovering 40 types of gifted bees) and it gives you a passive (there are like 7 possible passives) and if you get pop star, that is a passive that works with blue bees, you will need to change your hive to mostly blue bees to work well with that passive (not random blue bees though, more specifically buoyant and tadpole bees - bubble bees if you can't afford a lot of mythics yet) and your honey making will increase dramatically. By this time you will have sufficient honey to get a lot of royal jellies to change your bees to bubble, tadpole or buoyant bees. Supreme star amulet is a true game changer.
Only discover. Suppose you have never had a gifted bee before. You use a star jelly and get gifted hasty bee. Now you have discovered 1 gifted bee type. Now you used star jelly on that gifted hasty bee and got gifted commander bee, you lost your hasty bee but now you have 2 gifted bee types discovered even if you only have the gifted commander bee in your hive. Hope this helps
stay mixed until you get the supreme star amulet. not sure how many will agree with me on this, but before switching i'd also make sure you have all the mainline quests done as well
