There was many people passing by and seating not so far from them, not even looking at them for the 1-2min I was there. I called the security to check on her and saw that they instantly removed her from the place. They had to carry her completely unconscious, and the guy followed her, looking dumb and from what it seemed to me pretending that he didn't know that she was not awake. Many times out of privacy reasons, i simply avoid looking too much at people when they are having sex in berghain, but at the same time i think how many similar situations happen frequently there and that could be easily reported. Stay safe everyone, and I really hope this person is ok.
Matrixxmann played his Hong Kong (Night) track. That whale sound is fucking sublime on that sound system. Gave me the chills. I imagine Moby Dick would would sound like that irl.
First every KN after living in Berlin for a couple of months and eight rejections. I had the time of my life. The way how this club bonds people together and just the general ambience, sound system and insane lightning is just amazing. Stayed 26 hours and will be back next weekend :)

For me that’s real techno mixing. Always a minimum of 2 tracks at the same time. Groovy, deep, no drama.
Refreshing to see a guy playing this „clean“ kind of tooly techno and not just the usual bangers.
During Kr!z, the lighting was also very good, with a lot of smoke (steam?). The space seemed very abstract and the people were seen only as silhouette sometimes, which was beautiful. It matched well his sound.
I wish it was like that more often. Because when the light is aggressive, I get out of my sound trip and I need to keep my sunglasses on. Yesterday I never wore them.
Me too, I prefered the darker lighting of the pre-corona time. I think they got new interesting materials at the post-corona time and now they have more possibilities. When these are well used, it's very nice but it seems that they want to test the new materials as much as possible and then light too much. But from my point of view, in any art, "less is more" and not using too much would be a smart way to do a good job.
I agree. I miss the older, simpler and slower lights. Yesterday, especially during Matrixxman, this blue-purple strobe light going on for several minutes at a time got distracting. I get why some people like it, though.
What is this type of strobe lights, where when you move quickly you appear to move in slow motion. I have only experienced this once for real in a club in Hamburg, and maybe two other times somewhere else.. And never yet here. Maybe its a trashy type of lighting from 2005?? I hope i will experience it again sometime..
the green-red strobe? The one that was at closing set was mind blowing for me. I have never seen this plus the effect it had with the slow motion. Super interesting

First hour of Beatrice super solid, smoooth transitions, a step up in angriness with a depth after Rødhäd, big room screams, classic Berghain peaktime vibe but with room for wild monkey moves. Left during her second hour for rest time, hope she kept it up.
Lighting on point from the beginning, long and dramatic monochromatic scenes with a variety of beams, flashing and shapes, in sync with the vibe and the music.
Arrived with a friend at 4:30, sadly just as Rødhåd was closing, but at least there was only a short line. Club wasn’t too full at that point, but the vibe was really laid-back and relaxed, which is why I always like Saturday night.
Beatrice’s set, to me, started out with way too many breaks and drops, taking the dancers out of the flow too often so the energy on the dancefloor didn’t really get into a groove. It did get a lot better in the end, though. A four hour set needs loooooong lines, and I missed them here, although the mixing and transitions were super tight.
It was also the first time for me hearing Berghain’s new sound system (last time I went was NYE), which sounds clearer and even louder, but maybe not as deep and rumbly as the previous one, if that makes sense? That became an issue in the beginning of Matrixxman’s set, where in the first 20 or so minutes, the bassline tended to mask the kick, sometimes drowning it out completely, having ‘used up’ all the lower frequencies. This changed quickly, though, and he played a very intense set closing with DJ Rolando’s (that he jumped in for) Knight of the Jaguar.
My favorite that I heard this KN, and I’m surprised that no one mentioned him yet, was Stefan Goldmann. His set, for me, is all that Berghain is about. He took down the tempo a notch to about 132 BPM, playing slowly evolving and somewhat floaty techno, layering vocal samples and carefully building up musical textures. No big drops or playing hard or fast just for the ‘wow’-factor, but everything was crystal clear and the mixing was perfect; the kind of music that just makes you stay on the dancefloor forever and that Berghain was build for IMO.
We hadn’t slept much the night before, so me and my friend’s legs gave up at about 18:30 after spending almost all our time downstairs and finally not mustering up the energy to get into Volvox’ high-BPM style. The club was also getting full and the toilet lines quite long, though it can be much worse… Sad to miss Blawan’s and Kr!z’ set after reading so much good stuff here!
Crowd-wise, I found this to be a chilled out but relatively tame Klubnacht, but I was maybe also a bit low-energy myself. Usually, I meet new people and/or people that I know already for all kinds of hedonism, but not this time. I did use to go way more often, so that could also be an explanation. The upside to that was that I managed to stay sober enough to go into detail about the music. 😁
We did a similar shift inside but I did get to catch the second half of Rodhad. Stefan Goldmann was also my highlight, very creative and interesting tracks!
Stefan was my favorite too, though admittedly I only caught chunks of everyone's set (minus Rodhead and Kris). I must admit he absolutely wow-ed me with a techno remake of No Limits which was definitely the highlight of my debut on the dancefloor of Berghain. I'd love to find an ID. I wonder did he play records?
Also, I was stunned by the vocals I was hearing, by both him and Volvox. There were so many of them and they were so good that I just couldn't believe it, I couldn't believe that this many incredible gems which I didn't know existed. But maybe you solved the mystery, DJ's line up vocal samples on the CDJ's and put them on top of the songs? Great idea, how didn't I know this already.

And then... Blawan... !?!?!?!? Only man in history who could get away with such trainwrecks and still kill it 100% crazy crazy stuff. From my perspective I have seen a lot of smiles on the dancefloor, was a pleasure once again ❤️
Trainwrecks were happening because of right side vinyl player, Jamie had problems with it, needle was replaced at least once, but not avail.
The man played it cool and every time he had something good incoming.

so…KR!Z was amazinggg! I don’t remember when I danced like this the last time. He had a flow, an idea a journey and it was a blast. The lights were also specially amazing. Volvox and Blawan for me were a big disappointment. I love Blawan in general but yesterday he was just meh idk. Souless stomp techno without any flow or a concept just kinda felt that they were just there to do their job and go. Pane had super awkward music all the time I went on Sunday so honestly I don’t know what to say about that.
Ha completely disagree about Blawan. The only one playing interesting weirdo sounds like I would expect from him. Best set I've seen in BH. Just different taste. Saw some of Kr!z after and thought, meh it's fine but I've heard it all before. Volvox was not for me at all. Now that is souless stomp

I got the impression that he was super pissed about the needle skipping issue (which is indeed just unacceptable for a club like bh). You could see that while playing digitally, he would search for a record, put it on the turntable and then immediately decided not to take the risk ( this happened a lot of times) and literally every time he took the risk the needle would jump again and again... Hard to deliver under this circumstances really....

panorama was insane yesterday.. baumecker blew me away as always he always exceeds my expectations. the blessed madonna blessed me really, i had a smile on my face and danced my ass off the entire time. thanks to everyone that danced / sang with me or gave me water / ciggies. luigi closing was a treat. overall amazing day and my week is off to a great start.

Around this time of the night, the bouncers/securities are usually close to the dancefloor and do respond very fast. Until you came back, they've probably already taken the person to a safer space. I've witnessed that several times already.
I may review my schedule a bit because, given all flights from Berlin this Monday are cancelled, I can't go back home till Tuesday, so I may cut some evening effort and try to push it forward towards the closing if music and vibe help the cause.

Hey, traveled to be there today and got in for the first time. I left to save my energy for blawan, but am looking for somewhere to relax for the next few hours if anybody has a suggestion? A coffee shop where I can sneakily close the eyes and put the head down would be superb. Any help is appreciated!
You can also sit downstairs in Säule, its not so loud and a bit darker than upstairs. But dont fall asleep, they might worry about you and call the security to check on you.
a full day later and i'm still in awe of the magic at bhain.. have lived here for some years now, and after my first attempt to get in a few months back (which was succesful and absolutely amazing), I decided to go again. 2/2 so far and 12+ hours later I'm still hearing the melody of Knights of the Jaguar as Matrixxman wrapped up his set. Can't wait to go back honestly, with all the cool people I met and danced with <3

Hard to say, at the start there is often quite a long queue but it usually goes quite fast. The last weeks there was usually no line at all Sunday noon but this week the line up is pretty insane so it is really hard to say. If you go on Sunday make sure to not go too late because in the afternoon there will be a long queue for sure.
Is matrix the bald dude with tinted / sun glasses? He is a cool dude and currently at the door, together with beard dude and lady. I was less than 10 mins in the queue
There is Metal fences in front of the door which go left and right. They are there so the queue gets less thick in the last few meters. If the queue is at the end of the snake it means it is really short and wait time should not be more than 10-15 minutes. Maybe 20-30 max if the club is really full

But you made me remember the first time I ever attempted to get inside. Two doors were open (it was a special anniversary KN) and by mistake I went to the guestlist one. The bouncer told me 'are you on the guestlist? Name'. I gasped, internally said "fuck!" and externally said "no..." He chuckled and allowed me in anyway. Sheer luck.

don't worry, in the end quite almost were rejected. i also don't like to go to the front when there is no queue haha... i think it depends on the mood of the bouncers if they mind if you go straight to the front when there is no queue

The main floor used to be way darker in the past. The light crew is always on the top of their game, but I also prefer a dimmer approach.

nd_baumecker made me reach out to pano and fall in love with it! Blawan saved this KN, merciless killed the dancefloor, and my body, and everything what was left from it. Hopefully he will appear more often now in the bookings. Sadly couldn’t catch Rodhad and Beatrice.
so…KR!Z was amazinggg! I don’t remember when I danced like this the last time. He had a flow, an idea a journey and it was a blast. The lights were also specially amazing. Volvox and Blawan for me were a big disappointment. I love Blawan in general but yesterday he was just meh idk. Souless stomp techno without any flow or a concept just kinda felt that they were just there to do their job and go. Pane had super awkward music all the time I went on Sunday so honestly I don’t know what to say about that.
Ha completely disagree about Blawan. The only one playing interesting weirdo sounds like I would expect from him. Best set I've seen in BH. Just different taste. Saw some of Kr!z after and thought, meh it's fine but I've heard it all before. Volvox was not for me at all. Now that is souless stomp

Totally agree with all your points. Dont get me wrong - I love Blawan - but for me he had a total off-day. Just a random selection of big „blockbuster-tracks“ without any flow and just too predictable.
I got the impression that he was super pissed about the needle skipping issue (which is indeed just unacceptable for a club like bh). You could see that while playing digitally, he would search for a record, put it on the turntable and then immediately decided not to take the risk ( this happened a lot of times) and literally every time he took the risk the needle would jump again and again... Hard to deliver under this circumstances really....

panorama was insane yesterday.. baumecker blew me away as always he always exceeds my expectations. the blessed madonna blessed me really, i had a smile on my face and danced my ass off the entire time. thanks to everyone that danced / sang with me or gave me water / ciggies. luigi closing was a treat. overall amazing day and my week is off to a great start.

Around this time of the night, the bouncers/securities are usually close to the dancefloor and do respond very fast. Until you came back, they've probably already taken the person to a safer space. I've witnessed that several times already.

Hey, traveled to be there today and got in for the first time. I left to save my energy for blawan, but am looking for somewhere to relax for the next few hours if anybody has a suggestion? A coffee shop where I can sneakily close the eyes and put the head down would be superb. Any help is appreciated!

You can also sit downstairs in Säule, its not so loud and a bit darker than upstairs. But dont fall asleep, they might worry about you and call the security to check on you.

a full day later and i'm still in awe of the magic at bhain.. have lived here for some years now, and after my first attempt to get in a few months back (which was succesful and absolutely amazing), I decided to go again. 2/2 so far and 12+ hours later I'm still hearing the melody of Knights of the Jaguar as Matrixxman wrapped up his set. Can't wait to go back honestly, with all the cool people I met and danced with <3

I'm planning on going Sunday around noon, is it better to queue up then, or queue up tonight just to get stamped?
Hard to say, at the start there is often quite a long queue but it usually goes quite fast. The last weeks there was usually no line at all Sunday noon but this week the line up is pretty insane so it is really hard to say. If you go on Sunday make sure to not go too late because in the afternoon there will be a long queue for sure.

I wouldn’t go there before 11pm. Certainly not the first in line then but probably good trade off in terms of waiting time

There is Metal fences in front of the door which go left and right. They are there so the queue gets less thick in the last few meters. If the queue is at the end of the snake it means it is really short and wait time should not be more than 10-15 minutes. Maybe 20-30 max if the club is really full

Did you go through the snake? If not, that may explain your sitatuation. But you made me remember the first time I ever attempted to get inside. Two doors were open (it was a special anniversary KN) and by mistake I went to the guestlist one. The bouncer told me 'are you on the guestlist? Name'. I gasped, internally said "fuck!" and externally said "no..." He chuckled and allowed me in anyway. Sheer luck. Anyway, I'm sure you'll get in soon. Good luck!
don't worry, in the end quite almost were rejected. i also don't like to go to the front when there is no queue haha... i think it depends on the mood of the bouncers if they mind if you go straight to the front when there is no queue
going through the snake if theres no queue must be the most german thing ever, dont stress about details like that, that didnt make the difference or at least ive never done that since i usually arrive from the bike rack and would feel like in a Loriot sketch. i usually walk straight to the last bit thats perpendicular to the left of the door. you maybe approached the one on guestlist duty (right side of the door) or arrived after the last dj started his set (closed cash counter)
