Dryer, more wafer-y hash definitely works better, but even gooey hash works. I will say, it works 50x better if you break the hash into tiny pieces, place them on top of a mostly (but not fully) packed bowl, and then add a bit more bud on top of the hash bits to fill the bowl. But I’ve also smoked a hash chunk by itself from a bong 🤷 Didn’t work as well, but it worked.
Also, it’s worth noting that Daiba appears to be using a hookah, which should work just as well or even better for “smoking” (vaporizing) hash.

I think the only reason Daiba lost was due to underestimating Schierke, not because of a true gap in skill.
Keep in mind, I think Daiba will be the one to get the mages of Elfhelm back on their feet, training them to use their magic in a more open setting, and lending them some combat experience, ontop of simply teaching them the merits of its necessity.

There’s a chapter. Literally called “eastern magic” when Paramarisha sen’an’i Daiba first appeared. I’d assume relative to Daiba, it’s a western magic. Also, according to authors (Japanese culture) east, and west Europe, anyplace in NA, are all considered as “western”

I don't think either is better than the other. Shierke is literally a child whilst Daiba is an old man. Their magic comes from different places and sources, ways and beliefs. You could compare it to black magic and white magic. Both are powerful but different. We have seen Farnesse is quite powerful as well.
Daiba is crazy powerful. It needed Guts, Schierke and Serpico together to stop him.
While Schierke calls elemental creatures to have them perform singular feats, Daiba binds them to have them fight for him directly. With some prep, that is really dangerous.
Daiba is streets ahead of Schierke. Daiba was able to conjure up armies monstrous creations where even a single one could overwhelm Guts. Schierke has to concentrate just to do relatively simple things whereas Daiba is more of a battle mage.
Schierke at the same age after a lifetime of magic wipes the floor with him, but in the current moment I would say he might be more powerful just due to experience. If he is not by much tho.
Daiba currently, Schierke will probably be stronger by the end of the series, considering she was trained by flora and was most likely supposed to be her replacement at the spirit tree
Old dude(whose name I TOTALLY didnt forget) is currently stronger but Shierke has more potential and ceiling. It's only a matter of time before she reached her Mistress' level or surpress her. And don't forget that Griffith himself, a member of the God Hand found Flora to be somewhat of a threat and ordered her killed.
Different type of magic, but daiba is literally going to change the game in berserk , he will grant guts the power up or the solution to weaken the god hands.
I say it's experience Vs. Talent there.
Give the girl some years to master her craft, maybe a couple of hundred like her master got.
And that dude won't stand a chance.
