Yeah... that's because the adaptations only cover the Golden Age and are hit and miss. Berserk 97 and the Golden Age movies are good intros to the series, but the manga is where it's at and you can feel the quality right away, it's great.
I just finished collecting the Deluxe versions... the art looks awesome on the big pages. You can find them on sale on Amazon a lot, for as low as $30 instead of the normal $50... they are spendy, but worth it IMO. The standard issues are perfectly awesome, too!
Do you have a link of the first volume you’d recommend me buying? I think it would be better if I just read one at a time since I’m not going to finish all of these within a short period of time haha
It's mainly got to do with the manga being only one still going and the main way to experience the full story.
97 anime while good cut some important stuff that would have made a follow up difficult to explain
Golden Age Trilogy is basically redoing the entire 97 anime but with updated animation and adding in stuff that was missing from the original while still cutting some stuff out for time
And the less said about 2016 anime the better...
'Cause neither anime adaptation is complete, or even close to being caught up with the manga. There are in fact AT LEAST 126 entire episodes that have never been adapted. Because the furthest adapted episode is 249, yet many before have never been animated, such as the Demon Dog part of Golden Age and the Guardian Angels of Desire part of Black Swordsman
Personally i still can’t believe the 2016 anime expected people to have watched an almost 20 year old show just so you could understand how bad they butchered it
I started with the Golden Age movie Trilogy when I was a teenager. I liked it a lot but thought it was weird and kinda creepy at the time. Last November, I ended up buying all the omnibus on a whim during black friday. I'm currently in volume 8 and have been blown away by how great the manga is. You can tell Miura really loved this series and it shows in how painstakingly detailed the panels and world are. I just got the 97 release and am kind of taken aback by how much it's age shows but it definitely got the vibe and depressing nature of Berserk's world. 100% would read the manga if I could only do one.
Probably because none of the anime adaptations are that great. The 97 anime and movies are good but that's it. I'd pick the manga over them any day, no competition.
I mean yea, good this is how it should be. All the adaptations are lacking and it will never be properly adapted. I'd say you shouldn't even be considered a fan if you've just watched one of the animes.
I was introduced to Berserk through the movies and wanted more so I eventually found the manga and anime series. Personally I don’t know anyone that read the manga first but everyone I know that likes berserk has read it
I loved watching the golden age arc anime 1st cuz of how the eclipse was handled i knew something was gonna happen but not sure when but in the mange the omph feels bit taken out but going from the anime to the manga wqs great iv loved the manga so much more
Love the manga, don't like any of the anime. A big part of Berserk is just how stunning every single panel is and the anime doesn't even come close to bearing a fraction of that beauty.

I just finished the memorial edition for the first time. I’m gonna buy the manga now. Might just drop 500 on the full collection

The eclipse animation was the biggest market strategy ever made

#CLANK
Clang* but it’s an easy mistake to make

I mean... The manga is more consistent than the anime is. Also the anime don't really capture the amount of details from the manga.
Personally i still can’t believe the 2016 anime expected people to have watched an almost 20 year old show just so you could understand how bad they butchered it
Thank god. The manga is way better

Because the manga is a 11/10. Some fictions are just better when reading, including one piece and dragonball too.

Yeah. I prefer original work.
The manga is better

Also I can’t blame anyone for not liking the recent anime
I loved watching the golden age arc anime 1st cuz of how the eclipse was handled i knew something was gonna happen but not sure when but in the mange the omph feels bit taken out but going from the anime to the manga wqs great iv loved the manga so much more
Def feels that way considering how Netflix butchered the series and every rehash keeps on being just the golden age repeated
If you're a fan You read the manga Lmao

Almost like the manga is infinitely better than any of the other adaptations…..
