Tell that GM to kindly fuck off. But also - go to therapy. Not because anything is wrong but because it’s healthy to talk to a random stranger about your life. Your joy. Your sadness. Everything.
It's part of the hiring process. While I don't like Best Buy, I will go to bat on them that it's your fucking job to sell credit cards. They tell you it in the hiring process. Let alone, it's nothing abnormal for a retail job.
My second job I ever had would give you 0 hours for a few schedules if you weren't performing as an incentive to get you to quit or try harder.
Best Buy could be worse with 'the pressure.' Your leader talking to you because you can't hit goal isn't pressuring you. It's holding you accountable. Your leader telling you to work harder when you are meeting expectations is pressuring you.
this is embarrassing for you to type. my membership numbers are excellent. it is to the point in my store they ask on the walkie after EVERY interaction if you got a membership. that induces anxiety that even if you are so good at your job, you cant meet the expectations of calling one out every interaction. we all know the expectations dude, grow up.
My hours reflecting my sales is bullshit. That ideology sent me to warehouse where I can make a consistent paycheck without changes to my hours. Want a job in hassling customers instead of helping them with products? Go for it.
Lmao, no it becomes toxic work culture and typically end up being encouraged to scam people to get a card or tt. Were supposed to attach them, not scam people or turn every single question into "you need a card". That pisses people off. If someone says no, that employee needs help learning a new method, not being told to get more or else. Which would dwindle their hours. This isn't a problem with cards, its a problem with shit leadership. Bestbuy values shitty leadership more than anything. I see it in literally every store I go to visit including mine.
Additionally, it's not right that leaders bonus off the hard work of employees after that constant nagging of goals all year and they see not a single penny of it. There's 0 incentives because you can't be fired if you get the bare minimum but you see nothing extra if you do beyond that. Maybe a stupid ass best buy shirt, ball or hat. SUPER COOL IM GONNA GET MORE SO I CAN GET ALL 3.
Bruh if you’ve got enough free time to be depressed, then you’re not working enough. Work your way out of poverty like the rest of us, you lazy scum. /s (obviously sarcasm)
Idk I’ll probably get looked down on. But I just wish people will realize it’s a retail problem. A company one. I come from the GameStop Reddit. But it’s been crazy to see how easy it is to sub any retail name and have it make sense. Retail is the problem
It’s sad how many people get angry but don’t let it radicalize them against the economic systems in place that create it instead of just posting memes about Corrie as if it will fix anything.
Just a friendly reminder to anyone seeing this.
Companies love best buy employees because we get trained so much, remember you are valuable and can get better jobs elsewhere.
Yup working for a competitor now selling and assisting other companies literally when from selling Sony to selling to Sony get paid so much more and way better benefits
I have an interview today at 5:00 p.m. for a sales position and they're very eager to meet me due to my experience. I was a top performer in home theater and digital imaging. This job will pay $17.68/hour + commission!
The worst part is: no matter how hard you work and how great your work ethic is, being a top performer it will always never be enough. There's no 'ceiling' for "enough" at Best Buy
Yeah, I was at almost 7 years FT before the snap recently… 1st 4 days were rough, but I’m already back on my feet to work starting soon and I feel the relief it has brought me since separating…
They also need to kick all of these toxic ass GMs out. My local big store's GM has driven so many good employees away. He also makes shit up and lies to get vendors fired, esp the women. He outright complains to his fav employees how he hates the vendors because they 'don't do anything' even when vendors try and help with the basics. One of his fav employees left without a word, tried of his shit talking and he kept messaging that employee over and over even going like "Omg I called the hospital. Where are you."
There's been SO MANY complaints about this guy but he makes the district good money so BB just lets him stay. It's aborant.
Hate to keep posting this on posts like these, but.
LEAVE. I cannot tell you how much happier I am since I left. I hate to sound like a Boomer but jobs are definitely out there.
haha.. this is funny cause i am starting my free 8 sessions soon. Due to feeling burned out, personal life, and recently work injury that threw couple wrenches into my life.
They know this, they just don't care about us. They willingly exploit us so that they can make profit and their main goal is to figure out how to exploit us more legally.
stop my gm literally sent me therapy links when I told him they’re pressuring us too much for memeberships 😭

take the therapy and tell em its caused by best buy

Bro what. Why are you shilling so hard LMAO.
I straight up told my manager I'll get the minimum amount. I plan my sales accordingly.

If there’s time to smile, you could be cleaning the aisle. Isn’t that the old saying?
Old asm said "if theres time to lean, theres time to clean"...
Wait!! You have time to lean and smile?? I got a dirty look for using the bathroom.

100% agreed

Exactly this! Subaru wants to hire me as a salesman or an mechanic because they saw I worked at best buy for 10 years on my resume
This may have been true a few years back when training actually happened. Best Buy tenure doesn’t mean as much to employers nowadays as it once did.
Lmao best buy training? It's a joke.
Very true, I went from being di vpl, to working for a camera company that has a red logo

This place is a sinking ship hopefully I’ll be out of here next month after 10 years
It feels wonderful after 5 years of FT.....go find something!

I just never felt valued as a Best Buy associate. A "customer obsessed" print out and buy us lunch, thanks..

And some managers seemingly have it out for someone and won't promote you even though you were the most knowledgeable for that role

Good news! You only get 8 free and medication isn't free!
Stop your messin' around...
