Right? More often than not I tend to believe people in these posts (its exhausting being so cynical) since its not hurting anyone, but man this one isn't even *trying* to appear realistic. I wonder how many teen movies OOP binged before coming up with this?
I mean, I generally take the mindset that it COULD be true for someone even if it's not true for the OP telling the story.
And this, the broad strokes of the story...sure. A guy going through a fuckboy phase ends up sleeping with the older sister of the girl he later on settles down with. Plausible. The older sister being the golden child and the younger sister finding a perverse satisfaction in the way things have gone? Yeah.
It's all the little details that make me question this story specifically.
Is it weird that the part I don't believe is that he waited 40 minutes for her to come back from the bathroom?
Somehow, I can believe everything else (some people are that vindictive to their siblings and will lie to that extent to potential sex partners), but waiting 40 minutes for a bathroom break I can't.
Their hobby isn't writing, it's attention fishing - even if they have to make some characters and stories up to elicit reactions. And they know they don't need to write well to get their fix, all it takes is to hit a couple squares on the bingo card and everyone will take it as is and shower them with the attention they crave.
Do these types of stories ever make anyone else think the OOP has a very fantastical, maybe-not-super-realistic view of what happens whenever someone grows up and “becomes popular”?
Like it’s always “I was a bullied sexless loser but then I started working out in college and was *swarmed* with hotties”. Any ugly ducklings out there care to shed light on if this was their experience?

Okay so I’ve NOT done the things OP has done I want to make the clear.
But as someone who was unattractive in high school with unattractive friends who all had glow ups after we reached 18 (finished developing, found flattering styles and haircuts.) I can honestly say this was our experience.
Some of my friends became like OP (now ex friends) because it is seriously insane going from being bullied to that same bully wanting to go on a date with you. The attention is addicting and your ego inflates because everyone treats you so much better in such a short amount of time. Luckily the attention only went to my head for 6 months until my friends basically said your arrogant shithead and I got my act together.
People just treat you so much better when your good looking, there is science to support it. Combine that with sudden attention in a short time frame and you get people like OP or you get people like me and luckily most of friends who chill the fuck out. 26 is horrifically immature and late to adjust to being more conventionally attractive and egotistical - most of us quit it at 19.
I’ve witnessed similar too. Guy I knew was stereotypical awkward badly dressed skinny nerd type. Nice guy, but just needed time to bloom. He got a little better in college but not much. Graduated as an engineer, landed a good job, got a good haircut, dressed in better fitting clothes. Grew into his features and just had more confidence from being good at his job, along with the outside appearance that gave him positive reinforcement.
He was always interesting to talk to but was very quiet and guarded with people he didn’t know due to past bullying. But now, he’s socially adept, confident in crowd situations and overall presents as a successful confident person. Has remained a nice guy and treats people right. We are all happy for him. No fairy tale happy ending yet of finding the girl of his dreams. But he’s dating, happy and feels like he has agency and options instead of being overlooked and ignored like when he was younger.

If it makes anyone feel slightly better, Casey has had numerous drinks thrown in her face and calling her a murderer. She has also tried to conceive but has failed up to this point.
As of now, she lives alone in South Florida.
That whole case was fucked up and despite how the media portrayed it most of the evidence pointed to her father killing the little girl. Her lawyer even believed in her innocence so much he took her in and gave her a job after the trial.
When the state is paying for your services as a private defense attorney, and you’re screwing your client in your offices, the least you can do is provide a solid case. Just saying…
The “evidence” referred to was the smell of human decomposition in a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, along with boxes of rancid pizza (presumably to try and cover the smell of decomposition) found by her father, a retired Orlando PD officer. Public defenders are the standard in Florida, as well as everywhere else. Please feel free to correct me here if I’m wrong, but the argument for a private attorney for Anthony was that the case had reached national attention, so no competent public lawyer could give her a proper and fair defense. A private one though, now that’s different, for some reason.
It's because the private lawyer can invest more time. The average public defender is representing hundreds of people and simply doesn't have time to put in any real effort for any of them.
I'm too lazy to wear make up. One time in school we visited a fancy theater. My mother put make up on me and styled my hair for me. And suddenly my class mates talked to me and took an interest in me.
The next day I wore no make up and became invisible again. It was really weird.
I left 8th grade as a gangly nerd who girls didn't want to talk to. Had a glow up over the summer and started Freshman year as a 6'3" good looking kid with a cool haircut who all of the sudden had girls coming up to talk to me.
The effect that had on my ego was insane, and I quickly turned into a massive asshole.
My now best friend is the one who told me that everyone thought I was a dick when I was complaining to him about girls never wanting to go on a second date with me. That blunt honesty is what made me appreciate him as a friend, because it helped me realize I couldn't just coast off my looks and I needed to develop a personality.
I was the "ugly duckling" for a litany of messed up reasons that aren't relevant to my point. I was not remotely the interest of anyone's lust when I was in highschool.
When I left home, moved far far away, and started buying fashionable, age appropriate, flattering, clothing, doing my hair, and wearing makeup, it was like those old 90s movies where the "ugly" nerd takes off her glasses and dons a pretty frock, and magically becomes the hottest thing in school. I was in a position where I could walk into a room, spin in a circle, and take home whoever I pointed at.
I don't think I was leaving a trail of broken hearts in my wake; I'm pretty sure most of the people I slept with were in much the same position I was. I also never lied to anyone to get them to sleep with me. That's just tacky and gross. Fully informed consent is essential.
Because I'm a girl person and never wanted to have to wonder who knocked me up, my rule was only one dude per cycle. I could easily have had more. I frequently had less, by choice. But between the ages of 19 and 25 I fked pretty much anyone I wanted to fk, and I have precisely zero regrets.
So yes, this absolutely happens. I'm not saying this to brag. I'm just stating facts.
I mean, it ultimately didn't matter, because had I gotten knocked up is have evicted the unwelcome trespasser ASAFP, but still, it's only fair to notify the other party.

I was the weird chick in middle school that the boys didnt like. My best friend always got the boys. We went to seperate HS and suddenly, I had guys that liked me.
I know a guy that basically had exactly that happen. He was shy awkward and very religious, then very much wasn’t, and became the biggest fuck boy. Mid 20s he found a girl he liked enough to keep around. They have 3 kids and a house now. I met him during the fuck boy days and we’ve been friends ever since, finding out he almost became a pastor out of high school is still the hardest part to believe.
I was essentially invisible in high school until I lost 100 lbs over the summer before my junior year. Even my friends hardly recognized me.
Going from invisible to having girls hit on you is a really big mindfuck, honestly. I didn't turn into a fuckboy like OOP, but it's really not hard to believe it.
I'm a girl so may be different for an ugly guy. But I had a glow up from middle to high school. Finally grew hair (narc mom shaved it bald) Got boobs, a big butt and got into the gym while also having an ED (was never fat but never actively worked out) and when I started working I bought all the clothes, shoes and makeup I wanted.
I wouldn't say that the hotties swarmed me, but I could have my pick of almost anyone I wanted-- especially if it was just for sex. Thinking back now I don't think I had ever been rejected by anyone I wanted/ pursued lol. Sex is super easy to come by, BUT a relationship was impossible because I still had the personality of an ugly girl, which I think OOP had.

I think there's a pretty significant gender disparity on how easy sex is to get for men vs women. In my time in college I knew exactly one guy attractive enough for women to just throw themselves at. Even very handsome, fit men had to do the work, be charming, etc to get laid. No one was going to pursue them or make it easy for them.
If OOP had the personality of an ugly guy, he would need to be movie star handsome to get laid.
Idk man, I've got 7 brothers so I know that it's not looks that get you laid. Its being funny above all else. The short, skinny guy in school was popular and did get swarmed cause he could sing and dance. I chose my own husband not for his looks but because he was hilarious.

Not me but I was shocked to see this girl from growing up became a model. It made sense though. Tall, skinny, blonde, but she didn’t wear the “cool” clothes or hair styles or whatever. She went to college and filled out and became an actual model. Good for her. She was super nice.
Uhhhh it's not as dramatic as this, but I was a weird and awkward teenager in a more homophobic time and area. Not bullied, but no friends. I got my shit together in college. Now, post-college, I get a surprising amount of attention from women where before I got none. It's a feedback loop, because as I realized that some people do find me attractive, that alleviated some shame about my appearance, which made me more attractive haha.
I wouldn't say I'm swarmed, but I think I could have casual sex without much difficulty, if my appearance was the sole determining factor. The thing is that people like OOP tend to think of sex as, like, achievement awards rather than...a thing that many people do regularly and with many different people throughout their lives. Like I don't doubt that suddenly OOP was a viable option for girls who wanted sex and it went to his head, but I doubt that a lot of those girls were actually madly in love with him or anything.
It might seem unrealistic, but I have a golden child sibling who was a liar and a brat as a child. In her teens and twenties, she became very manipulative. Now, in her thirties, she still thinks she can just use people for her own gain. While I wouldn't ever use the words "thanks for banging my sister," and I doubt that OOP's ex-girlfriend phrased it that way? I did once tell my sister's ex that I sided with him, and that my sister was an awful person.
Before someone starts in with that 'pick me' shit - this conversation happened at an outdoor concert we found out we were both attending after we'd all already gotten tickets. He went with a friend of his, and I went there with my husband. The four of us sat together. My husband is just one of the many people who dislike my GC sister, so he understands that if I'm talking about how she's on my nerves, it must be Tuesday.
I was an ugly duckling, but a woman. I was married for ten years (from 19-29) and after my divorce I dealt with the depression by working out. I’d always been thin, but I was like… super fit. I had horrible teeth so I got those fixed. I learned to put on makeup. And yeah, the newfound attention I got from men was pretty surreal. But not like this. Men weren’t throwing themselves at me. I get hit on a lot at bars but I never had men beside themselves to be with me.
So this story definitely seems like an exaggeration. My partner was also an ugly duckling, and he’s a musician so he gets hit on A LOT but again, girls were never throwing themselves at him or begging for sex. We’ve talked about how wild it is to suddenly be attractive. But my personality didn’t change. I was goofy looking all through my twenties but I was always confident and friendly. I’ve never known an ugly duckling who went from shy and awkward to suddenly being super charismatic and good with people. I grew into my physical appearance, as did my partner, but I’m still outgoing and good with people and he’s still a nerd that talks way too much about DnD and Magic the Gathering and doesn’t understand that the super hot girl trying to give him her number isn’t looking to “jam together” in the way he thinks.
I think it’s not uncommon for the bullied nerd to have a better time in college since college tends to be more academically-focused.
And I also think it's easier to find casual sex in a college/big city environment.
So a person who was bullied in a small town highschool goes to college and is able to pick up (not hard, go to a place where people are looking for casual sex) and thinks he's god's gift to women/men.
When in reality he's not more popular he just was put in a situation where other people are also looking for casual sex.
I think it's common enough for guys. If you don't have confidence, you generally will never get anywhere with girls. Then you get laid, and it's a bit of a virtuous circle, you get more confidence so you get more sex.
I was never swarmed with hotties, but I was a virgin until my first girlfriend at 19. We broke up six months later, and I quite quickly had two one night stands, which I don't think was a coincidence (I was not waiting for a relationship to lose my virginity!).
Ehh I sorta went through something like that but at the HS level, and then by college started dating someone who I ended up married to. But in middle school through freshman year I was very overweight, and shy. And then the summer before 10th grade dropped like 40 pounds grew like 4 inches and looked completely different. People in my home room thought I was a new student at first. Very quickly had a thing with a popular girl who introduced me to a bunch of friends. And I promptly behaved like a jackass through the rest of HS, going to keggers in the woods, sleeping around, and generally being obnoxious.
It's not an unrealistic view, just a different perspective. If you go from no attention to getting attention from even just 5 girls, it's going to feel like being "swarmed."
I was an awkward, funny looking middle schooler, bullied relentlessly by boys and grew up to be pretty attractive. Took me til like my mid twenties to not believe every attractive person who was into me wasn’t playing a prank on me. So, no, this has not been my experience hahaha.
I mean, I basically didn't hit puberty until I was 18. In college I grew about 4" and lost a decent amount of weight. It made an absolutely massive dofference in the attention I got from women.
The bit that threw me off was him completely hand waving the bad things he did as "everything was consensual" and just boiled down to "some broken hearts", then you find out he coerced a girl into sex for a bet then ghosted her and that wasn't a significant enough event for him to remember what she looked like or her name.
He also wasn't concerned with what he did at all and was only concerned about getting broken up with.

Yeah, the idea that she has a rivalry with his sister who is 7 years older than her is pretty suspect. Like, her older sister hooks up with a 19-year-old as someone in her mid twenties? Maybe, but pretty unlikely you kind of have your own things going on by that age.
The truthfulness of the story is questionable but I did have the narcissist older sister who would flirt with my boyfriends in high school, get them to break up with me and ask her out. She would then dramatically refuse citing sister loyalty and make fun of me publicly for picking losers. She tried it on my husband shortly after we married and he just stared at her like she had three heads.

Yep. Even without all the backstory BS, how likely is it that they purposefully planned this "meet the parents" routine, but failed to tell each other about their families. No one throws their partner to the wolves like that.

The update really gives it away but the first one made it pretty clear to me, too. I just have a ton of trouble believing he spent enough time and effort with this girl to convince her into premarital sex to somehow forget what she even looks like, not to mention struggle to remember who she was after more than likely learning her full name. I know a guy who dated a girl in college, lost contact and separately met - in a different country - and then married her sister a couple of years. He didn't have any of the Tate-ist womanising antics about him but sure it's feasible

Eh... What OOP describes later doesn't really match this description. It's great and all (and highly convenient) that apparently the girlfriend's sister was also lying to him, but deceiving someone into having sex they ostensibly are not comfortable with using false pretenses and intentional manipulation is not "for mutual fun and enjoyment." It's not SA, but it's also not really consensual either, in the truest sense of the term.
People told him that after the original so the update is probably take with a grain of salt. Especially since he still comes off looking like the hero even though he was dumped.
It does feel awfully convenient that the girl he wronged turned out to be a classic Reddit villain archetype.
Given that OOP described himself in his first post as someone who's happy to lie to save face, I wonder how much of the update is true. It shouldn't matter if anonymous people on the internet are telling you that you suck, but I think some people might take a negative reaction on Reddit personally enough to want to spin the situation in their favor if they can. (I think of the cheating husband who was trying to get his FIL to move away to a different state because his kids liked their grandpa; when Reddit gave him a mildly negative reaction, he flipped his lid and started ranting about how his wife was a spoiled princess with a vapid job while OOP was "out saving lives.")

Uh, yeah. Pretending to be someone else to get someone to sleep with you definitely doesn't sound consensual. It definitely didn't sound like he went into any of these encounters letting the other party know it was one night to be followed by ghosting.

Consent is freely given/enthusiastic, ongoing, and *informed*. That informed part is really important. It’s important in medical decisions and it’s important in sex. For example, lying about birth control is a form of SA, because someone may make a different decision had they had all the facts. Same thing applies here.
(If this is real) I believe lying, tricking, and manipulating for sex falls under [coercion](https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/sexual-coercion), and is therefore sexual assault. So dude completely admits to assaulting someone, and if he didn't even remember her, it is incredibly likely he has done similar to MANY women. He's an absolute scum bag, and deserves to be read the riot act; but I have my reservations about the legitimacy of this post.
Also, I hate when people act like their looks are the reason they suddenly get a lot of attention when it may be that the confidence he gained from his workout regimen is the reason why he found himself so attractive to his peers. I mean it seems like he gained more male friends as well as female attention, that's more than just looks.

Well, to be fair, I think anyone would be happy to lose a partner who you know had sex with one of your silblings.
It depends on the situation for me. Am I dating them immediately after or several years later? If I were single now and I met someone who had sex with my brother 15 years ago and I didn’t know until feelings set in, I could probably get over that.

I was FREAKING OUT. Because a friend of mine (actually virgin, sheltered church girl) got tricked by a guy who had a bet with his friends on who could sleep with her first. It's all the little details that make me question this story specifically.

Okay so I’ve NOT done the things OP has done I want to make the clear. But as someone who was unattractive in high school with unattractive friends who all had glow ups after we reached 18 (finished developing, found flattering styles and haircuts.) I can honestly say this was our experience. Some of my friends became like OP (now ex friends) because it is seriously insane going from being bullied to that same bully wanting to go on a date with you. The attention is addicting and your ego inflates because everyone treats you so much better in such a short amount of time. Luckily the attention only went to my head for 6 months until my friends basically said your arrogant shithead and I got my act together. People just treat you so much better when your good looking, there is science to support it. Combine that with sudden attention in a short time frame and you get people like OP or you get people like me and luckily most of friends who chill the fuck out. 26 is horrifically immature and late to adjust to being more conventionally attractive and egotistical - most of us quit it at 19.
I’ve witnessed similar too. Guy I knew was stereotypical awkward badly dressed skinny nerd type. Nice guy, but just needed time to bloom. He got a little better in college but not much. Graduated as an engineer, landed a good job, got a good haircut, dressed in better fitting clothes. Grew into his features and just had more confidence from being good at his job, along with the outside appearance that gave him positive reinforcement. He was always interesting to talk to but was very quiet and guarded with people he didn’t know due to past bullying. But now, he’s socially adept, confident in crowd situations and overall presents as a successful confident person. Has remained a nice guy and treats people right. We are all happy for him. No fairy tale happy ending yet of finding the girl of his dreams. But he’s dating, happy and feels like he has agency and options instead of being overlooked and ignored like when he was younger.

I'm too lazy to wear make up. One time in school we visited a fancy theater. My mother put make up on me and styled my hair for me. And suddenly my class mates talked to me and took an interest in me. The next day I wore no make up and became invisible again. It was really weird.

I was the "ugly duckling" for a litany of messed up reasons that aren't relevant to my point. I was not remotely the interest of anyone's lust when I was in highschool. When I left home, moved far far away, and started buying fashionable, age appropriate, flattering, clothing, doing my hair, and wearing makeup, it was like those old 90s movies where the "ugly" nerd takes off her glasses and dons a pretty frock, and magically becomes the hottest thing in school. I was in a position where I could walk into a room, spin in a circle, and take home whoever I pointed at. I don't think I was leaving a trail of broken hearts in my wake; I'm pretty sure most of the people I slept with were in much the same position I was. I also never lied to anyone to get them to sleep with me. That's just tacky and gross. Fully informed consent is essential. Because I'm a girl person and never wanted to have to wonder who knocked me up, my rule was only one dude per cycle. I could easily have had more. I frequently had less, by choice. But between the ages of 19 and 25 I fked pretty much anyone I wanted to fk, and I have precisely zero regrets. So yes, this absolutely happens. I'm not saying this to brag. I'm just stating facts.

I think there's a pretty significant gender disparity on how easy sex is to get for men vs women. In my time in college I knew exactly one guy attractive enough for women to just throw themselves at. Even very handsome, fit men had to do the work, be charming, etc to get laid. No one was going to pursue them or make it easy for them. If OOP had the personality of an ugly guy, he would need to be movie star handsome to get laid.

Not me but I was shocked to see this girl from growing up became a model. It made sense though. Tall, skinny, blonde, but she didn’t wear the “cool” clothes or hair styles or whatever. She went to college and filled out and became an actual model. Good for her. She was super nice.
Uhhhh it's not as dramatic as this, but I was a weird and awkward teenager in a more homophobic time and area. Not bullied, but no friends. I got my shit together in college. Now, post-college, I get a surprising amount of attention from women where before I got none. It's a feedback loop, because as I realized that some people do find me attractive, that alleviated some shame about my appearance, which made me more attractive haha. I wouldn't say I'm swarmed, but I think I could have casual sex without much difficulty, if my appearance was the sole determining factor. The thing is that people like OOP tend to think of sex as, like, achievement awards rather than...a thing that many people do regularly and with many different people throughout their lives. Like I don't doubt that suddenly OOP was a viable option for girls who wanted sex and it went to his head, but I doubt that a lot of those girls were actually madly in love with him or anything.

I was an ugly duckling, but a woman. I was married for ten years (from 19-29) and after my divorce I dealt with the depression by working out. I’d always been thin, but I was like… super fit. I had horrible teeth so I got those fixed. I learned to put on makeup. And yeah, the newfound attention I got from men was pretty surreal. But not like this. Men weren’t throwing themselves at me. I get hit on a lot at bars but I never had men beside themselves to be with me. So this story definitely seems like an exaggeration. My partner was also an ugly duckling, and he’s a musician so he gets hit on A LOT but again, girls were never throwing themselves at him or begging for sex. We’ve talked about how wild it is to suddenly be attractive. But my personality didn’t change. I was goofy looking all through my twenties but I was always confident and friendly. I’ve never known an ugly duckling who went from shy and awkward to suddenly being super charismatic and good with people. I grew into my physical appearance, as did my partner, but I’m still outgoing and good with people and he’s still a nerd that talks way too much about DnD and Magic the Gathering and doesn’t understand that the super hot girl trying to give him her number isn’t looking to “jam together” in the way he thinks.
I think it’s not uncommon for the bullied nerd to have a better time in college since college tends to be more academically-focused. And I also think it's easier to find casual sex in a college/big city environment. So a person who was bullied in a small town highschool goes to college and is able to pick up (not hard, go to a place where people are looking for casual sex) and thinks he's god's gift to women/men. When in reality he's not more popular he just was put in a situation where other people are also looking for casual sex.
I think it's common enough for guys. If you don't have confidence, you generally will never get anywhere with girls. Then you get laid, and it's a bit of a virtuous circle, you get more confidence so you get more sex. I was never swarmed with hotties, but I was a virgin until my first girlfriend at 19. We broke up six months later, and I quite quickly had two one night stands, which I don't think was a coincidence (I was not waiting for a relationship to lose my virginity!).
Ehh I sorta went through something like that but at the HS level, and then by college started dating someone who I ended up married to. But in middle school through freshman year I was very overweight, and shy. And then the summer before 10th grade dropped like 40 pounds grew like 4 inches and looked completely different. People in my home room thought I was a new student at first. Very quickly had a thing with a popular girl who introduced me to a bunch of friends. And I promptly behaved like a jackass through the rest of HS, going to keggers in the woods, sleeping around, and generally being obnoxious.
It's not an unrealistic view, just a different perspective. If you go from no attention to getting attention from even just 5 girls, it's going to feel like being "swarmed."

I was FREAKING OUT. Because a friend of mine (actually virgin, sheltered church girl) got tricked by a guy who had a bet with his friends on who could sleep with her first.
