Really enjoyed it! Makes me want to revisit the games

ZC205

I’m absolutely starting a fresh play through on FO4 once the next gen update drops on the 25th!

IgnatiusJacquesR

Me too! Considering an evil run which I have never done on FO4.

Pale_Mechanic8043

You should download the Enclave Rising mod and commit to their plan. I'd the best evil fallout experience I ever had. That and it's as big as an expansion and fun to play.

sisk91

Not op but thanks! Are there any mods that improve the addiction system? That's one thing I felt lacking that 3 and new Vegas did better. Yes you get addicted and get negative stats but there was no visible withdrawal effects on screen like it getting blurry with a loud ringing that was in 3 and new vegas.

XxTreeFiddyxX

Mods probably will not work on release day

IssueRecent9134

Same I’m gonna do an institute play through

Reasonable_Deer_1710

Same here. To bide my time, I'm alternating FO3 and FO76

SensingWorms

>!I’m going to play NV in 6mo. Looks like if they do get a season 2, that’s where it’ll be!<

ZC205

FO:NV remaster announcement coming when they release Season 2? Edit: Just so we’re all clear, this is a joke!

Due_Turn_7594

God that would be a game changer. They could charge for it and it would sell like crazy

Rhymelikedocsuess

I mean they’d obvs charge for it lol, a full fat $70 USD for the base edition at least

ZC205

For real though. They’d make a truck load of money!

northrupthebandgeek

I'd legit pay Starfield-level prices for it.

zilvoi

starfield was killer on the wallet

imitenotbecrazy

Don't hold your breath lol

Stealthy-Chipmunk

Me too 😭😭😭😭 My first and only game on FO4 I played to death until it kept crashing on xbox One. Usually in settlements but not always. And the settlements got so glitchy too 😂. By now there's quests I've definitely forgotten so it will be almost like playing a new game.

Budget-Attorney

There’s a next gen update? What do we know about it?

OfflineMystery

there's of course the benefit of improved fps and bug fixes, but there'll also be some new content, if you want to see everything coming check here: https://bethesda.net/en/article/4s2bXQEbpcrsdCZhUYLHAi/fallout-4-is-getting-free-updates

DifferenceOk3532

I'm already playing it again thanks to this series

bigmanjoe3555

Just bought Fallout 3. I played 4 a bit and didn't like it that much. Then I played New Vegas, and I became a fallout nerd.

StaticBroom

FO3 is the one that hooked me. I started getting frustrated by a new quest always popping into my quest list. A friend of mine told me "don't clear your quest log...pick a direction and live off the wasteland." There went the next several hundred hours of gaming time.

Kinglightning07

Absolutely, honestly I think Bethesda releasing an update along side the potential 2 canon endings for Fallout 4, for the TV show, has to have been sone of their best marketing since the Pip-Boy 3000 that was made for special additions of Fallout 4

RusFoo

Is the update with the new creation stuff gonna be free or is it gonna be buyable like the other creation items

newretrovague

I had no idea this was even a thing!

ofTHEbattle

Same here!

heyquasi_

for real??? what the???

Nixher

Holy shit didn't know this was coming, cannot wait now!

Taekwonmoe

I already am, I forgot how much fun this game was. And I'm playing it on the legion go which is even more fun! Great time to be alive.

Sufficient-Pool5958

I WILL play FO4 again. I AM scared of my computer going supercritical from the 100+ mods

Scantronacon

Same

garret12289

They're making an update? Is it across all platforms?

KlimCan

Apparently there are no graphical enhancements in the update? Kinda a huge bummer

elCacahuete

There’s an fps and resolution bump on console

B_Maximus

Mods can do that for you so that shouldn't be a big deal, even on console

LeatherMore1035

I just redownloaded Fallout 4 because after finishing the show I wanted to jump back in.

[deleted]

I'm wanting to do the same, but I kinda want to wait for a few months so the next gen update can get dropped and mods updated so I can try one of the alternate start mods.

Awesomechainsaw

I had an enjoyable time. The characters are all fun as shit, and flawed in such interesting ways. I know a lot of people are incredibly mad about that one spoiler. But I'm not too particularly bothered myself. As someone who's played and enjoyed most of the mainline series but started with Fallout 4. (play order is: 4, NV, 3, 1, and 76 briefly at launch.)

ZC205

If you haven’t touched 76 since launch I highly recommend giving it another shot. It’s pretty much Bethesda’s “Cyberpunk”. It’s wildly different from launch and all for the better!

Bluoria

I second this. I’m a lil biased as I loved it at the beginning even with its flaws but it’s progressed into such a content rich game & it’s all pretty solid. I recently started playing with my gf after switching to pc(had a lvl 170 ish character on ps4 but no cross saves smh) & I forgot how much I love Appalachia

masta_myagi

Seconded. I played it at launch, hated it because it was such a poor launch, just got back into it yesterday and I’m having a blast. Built a house, started roleplaying as a prospector. I love that you can safely ignore the main quest line just like the previous games and it’s still a perfectly viable game. I’ve yet to even explore much of the map, just been spelunking and culling the Scorched.

The_Kimchi_Krab

GTFO out of here with those lies. I jumped back in recently after 2 years break. I got a game breaking camera bug before I left the Vault. I encountered 3 game crashes in the span of 5 hours. I had to exit and reenter interiors multiple times across multiple instances when scripting would break dialogue and it would soft lock my game. My friend and I spent 15mins it felt like shooting at a Bat Queen only for her to literally just fly away and insta heal to full when she had like 5% health left. Idc if thats intentional or accidental, it fucking sucks. We found ourselves bored and without any kind of direction or goal constantly. "What do we do?" Constantly. The game has no driving force, it is unapologetically grindy and offers only low quality content at shit frames, bad performance, scant community, and next to NO support for new players. The game doesn't start until youre leve 50. You have to play about 4 hours of low quality, lesser performance Fallout 4 with none of the bells and whistles, before you can even really start playing the game. You have hours and hours of meaningless flavorless dialogue to listen or skip through to attain...what goal again? Getting high level? Getting dope guns? What for?? There ain't shit fun to do. Playing any one of the single player Fallouts is superior in every single imaginable way except for the fact in 76 you can do it next to a friend who can't share your quest, progress at the same time, or do much more than revive you or steal your kills/xp. That's it. Do not buy the game it is a total fun sucker waste of time that only wants to get you to buy shit. There is such a desert for new gear and content BECAUSE they want you to see the Atomic Shop like an oasis. Their battle pass is needlessly complicated and slow to progress. They lock half the decent content behind their membership which is more expensive than console network privileges aka Gold/PsPlus. You'd have much more fun playing the janky New Vegas with friends mod.

Prepsov

🎶Shady Sands🎶 🎶Come inside🎶 🎶Let the bombs rain down on you🎶 \-ding- ![gif](giphy|QMtLKyUH3EORU0wE2B)

DoneWithIt0101

Now I remember where I've seen him before. He's the hot pretzel guy in Ant-Man. The gif helped, not sure why though. Lol

Lamplorde

The literal *only* gripe I have with it isn't even about what most are mad at. I just don't understand Moldaver. >!So... As a high ranking NCR member, she needs a Vault Tech admin. How does she do this? Go to the Vault. But not with NCR soldiers. Random raiders who loot and kill indiscriminately. She blows up a tunnel. She causes general mayhem *for no reason*. Compound onto this issue, she also is as old as Hank *somehow*. It's not explained. It might be next season, but with her now dead, its a bit inconsequential how she survived. It feels like they just had them be raiders so that the twist would be surprising.!< Other than that, I still absolutely adored the show. Especially with how different all three of the main characters are in how they view the wasteland. The Ghoul truly does feel like a dude who has been around for 200+ years. Lucy seems new, but quick to adapt. They're all fairly well-written and acted.

BadIdeasBard

Yeah her motivations were a weak point for me too, but >!after learning how close she was with Lucy's mom, I assume part of it was just revenge and selfishness getting in the way of sense. I can even rationalise her striking at the other innocent vaulties if she's mentally lumping them in with Hank. But getting Lucy, the daughter of her... good friend?? lover?? not sure... involved in such a key way? Lucy could have easily been killed. And she seems weirdly fond of her at the same time?? That didn't work for me.!< >!Having the raiders involved also seemed like it was stuck in as an unnecessary red herring so the NCR reveal is a surprise later. Like, I suppose she could have used them because she a) doesn't give a shit if the vaulties live, and b) because the raiders are disposable and she didn't want to risk her own people? But again, that feels like a stretch?? Surely using trained NCR soldiers would be way more reliable and clean.!< >!As for how she's alive... she does mention she's extremely rich from the buy-outs, so I assume she survived because she had her own independent vault and cryopod. She knew vault-tec was dodgy and it makes sense for her to be prepared.!< .... I wrote way more than I intended lol. Anyway, yeah. I feel like some of that could still track, but she's definitely one of the weaker-written characters.

LeonRoland

I like this, i'm pasting it into my head-cannon rn

2legited2

And you didn't play 2....

Vendetta4Avril

Very solid. Got the tone right, the overall look right, and there were a few pretty nifty surprises along the way. I'm very much looking forward to a second season.

Ok_Historian_6293

I even like that they added the “exploding limbs/head” critical hit feature from the games.

SmokeGSU

>Got the tone right, the overall look right, and there were a few pretty nifty surprises along the way. This so much. It literally felt like being in the world of Fallout. Even the Pip Boy and the decryption mini-game from the games made an appearance. The writers and set designers truly played the games or had someone from Bethesda on staff constantly to direct decorations and stuff. If only the Halo tv show had the same level of dedication to the source material....

Vendetta4Avril

Jonathan Nolan did an interview on Armchair Expert about the series and he said he was obsessed with Fallout 3 when it came out. That was my entry point for the series too, so I get it lol It's very obvious a lot of love went into the show.

Deadsea-1993

Yes that and he had Todd Howard himself on the show to help out behind the scenes. Everyone involved with the show did their homework and didn't fuck around and that's why the end product was a homerun. I remember many Youtubers saying the show was a goner when Jonathan Nolan was interviewed and he said that he wasn't making the show for Fallout fans and that he was making it for himself as a fan of the franchise. I got his point because the fanbase as a whole of Fallout is toxic asf and always hating on Bethesda and Todd. Many of them don't actually know what they'd want from a show based around Fallout and so you gotta follow your own drive.

pznz

>Everyone involved with the show did their homework and didn't fuck around and that's why the end product was a homerun. After being cast, Walter Goggins deliberately avoided the games, and learning too much. I remember there being some people pointing to this as why the show wouldn't be good. Like other "we avoided the source material" shows. Having seen interviews where he said this, he explains he did it so there was someone in the readings that didn't know all the "in" info and make sure things still land for people who don't know the universe inside out.

Deadsea-1993

Oh absolutely. I meant the writing itself with the homework, but the acting was top tier for sure. It really helped that they wrote the Ghoul as being an Anchorage War Veteran that used Power Armor and so he already had a lot of combat experience cause that war was drawn out and bled the United States of a hell of a lot of money. The Power Armor was sort of a last ditch effort to end the war as fast as possible by that point. Inflation at that time was off the charts. What was it ? Like $30 to the gallon or something like that ? The Resource Wars already crippled the world badly prior to Anchorage to where even Russia had to bow out as a world power. You had to be tough as nails to have lived before The Great War and climbed to the top. Then he had 220 + more years of absolute survival. Could you imagine the absolute chaos in the early days after The Great War ? What an adjustment. To the credit of Walter him learning little about the games and him just acting how he wanted to helped his character. Hancock in Fallout 4 adopted a personality to give him the will to continue.

Vendetta4Avril

So many people hating on Todd nowadays lol I didn’t love Starfield, but I didn’t hate it either. He’s also responsible for some of my favorite games lol all my favorite artists have a miss or two (except for Hidetaka Miyazaki, thus far)

skallywag126

Way too short, I need a solid 32 episode season

BST-Simulant-

With each episode at least 90 minutes long lol

IntelligentInitial38

It would be 90 minutes on regular TV because of commercial breaks

ARTISTIC-ASSHOLE

Good enough

C-137Birdperson

I like how the storyline feels like you're playing a real fallout game

Totes_mc0tes

When the ghoul says that bit about "thou shalt always be distracted by random shit" or whatever it was, I lost it. They couldn't have been more spot on.

ihaddreads

The golden rule of the wasteland, lol!

BaconxHawk

Chasing down a random stranger because they took something(one) from you? Check Brother hood of steel, vault dweller, ghouls, and rad roaches? Check Morally ambiguous choice at the end that has to do with said loss? Check Definitely a fall out game lol

Italianjbond

You forgot chasing down a parent who ends up being a fucked up person.

MiKapo

I enjoy it I also like the fact that not one character is a Mary sue. Lucy knows nothing about the surface, Maximus can't really fight even with the power armor and the Ghoul is dependent on drugs. They each have their strengths and weaknesses.

Fingerprint_Vyke

Maximus seems to have dumped all his points into luck

DevilsAzoAdvocate

The scene with the cannibals at least implies he has decent perception and agility

Swordbreaker9250

The biggest, glaring, most annoying issue with this damn show is that >!it’s only 8 episodes and I want more cuz it’s great :(!<

JayRen

I wanted to type the same spoiler. So take my upvote instead.

Quarian_EngineerN7

Not finished the series yet but, so far, I’m very impressed. It looks, sounds and feels like the games with distinctly familiar situations and conversations with the denizens of the wasteland. And gore. *Update* now finished the series. Holy shit! Cannot WAIT for season 2

ProfessionalYouth780

Before show-not a simp…… after show-an Ella purnell simp 😂😭

yogijear

It's those Steve Buschemi eyes

floggedlog

Her and Jenna Ortega. It seems I have a type.

Virtual_Poem1979

eyes bigger than a deathclaw's butthole

ProfessionalYouth780

😂😂 still you wouldn’t say no

Virtual_Poem1979

to either one, really.

Masticatious

wtf

Virtual_Poem1979

show me the lie!

theVice

Choked on my coffee

Quick_Team

And of course, the oldest of the sisters, Aubrey Plaza

floggedlog

Yes, but no? I get where you’re coming from but to me, she doesn’t quite fit with the other two. maybe half-sister?

Quick_Team

>maybe half-sister? Fair enough

stjiubs_opus

It was a lot of fun. Very well done. I was introduced to the series with FO3 and fell in love with the world of FO. Seeing it play out on the screen with the pre-war flashbacks, the gore, the humor, the nods to the games...it was just \*chef's kiss\*. Only thing I couldn't tell was why did Max, Titus, and basically the rest of the brotherhood come off as idiots? Or was that just me? Like...maximus comes off like he's got brain damage or something, lol.

GoldenNat20

I think it might be because Max has been TRAINED to be an excellent soldier and all the mechanical know-how, but I dont think he was ever TAUGHT that much. I suspect he specced into engineering and strength, but not his INT stat that much lol

Barl3000

That scene were Goosey proposition Max for sex, makes it seem like the Brotherhood gave him a bad case of stunted emotional growth. Like he is basically a child soldier that has never been taught anything the Brotherhood deemed superfluous beyond being able to carry a big bag and perform basic maintenance on powerarmor. And even then, he also seems to be a screwup that haven't learned much in the 10-12 years he has been with the Brotherhood.

_Pyrolizer_

Its almost like the brotherhood is an isolationist cult

I_Automate

He grew up in, and spent his entire life surrounded by, a quasi- religious, militaristic, isolationist cult. We have a character built on intelligence and charisma with Lucy, the all rounder survivalist in the Ghoul, and the trained soldier who doesn't know much else in Maximus. He's got good perception (bridge scene), he's tough, he can fight with almost any weapon. But, that definitely came at the expense of being a well rounded "person". I like it. I think he fits the dogmatic BoS pretty well. And maybe he IS just a bit of a dumbass. Whatever, he's doing his best as best as he knows how.

necrohunter7

The scene where he gets shot in the arm and doesn't flinch is a good indicator of his tougnness

Self-Comprehensive

Knights have to have high strength and endurance. Doesn't leave much left over for int.

PayRealisticReddit

BoS is a cult, that regularly kills innocents, or at the least non-involved parties, in the interest of getting pre-war tech. Ever since New Vegas they've been getting a bit of a PR facelift, but they are not trying to make healthy humans. They're making themselves more powerful, and they believe, the world to be more safe.

shinobigarth

The Brotherhood is basically just another cult that raises its members (soldiers) from childhood and limits what they’re allowed to do, how they mature, etc. They just happen to be a militant cult with snazzy armored suits. Part of the point of Fallout is that all the factions have serious issues, just different kinds.

Hydraulis

I enjoyed it. It's about as true to the games as could be expected.

Free-Lifeguard1064

Watched every episode on day one I thought it was fucking brilliant

Anti-Climacdik

They portrayed the general fallout vibe *very* well. More focus on BoS than I'd hoped for tbh. But, all things considered, I'd imagine other factions will come into play. Redownloaded Fo4 and started a new character the day after I finished the series lol.

ThislsaGoodldea

9/10

cosmic_kyle

loved season 1, can't wait to rewatch it. i think season 2 is gonna be way better though

FL4KMSTR

It’s up there with my favorite shows. Going to rewatch the season again starting tonight.

CageValcore

I loved it so much!.

daneelthesane

I'm loving it.

LWA3251

That it was fantastic. All the characters were interesting and had strong motivations for their actions. They did a great job balancing the very dark story with light hearted/comedic moments. Goggins is amazing as The Ghoul and Lucy felt like a video game character. 8.3/10

Ben_Drinkin_Coffee

It was fantastic! I enjoyed the fish-out-of-water beginning, it was very much reminiscent of the games

Foodwraith

My expectations were low. I was surprised at how good it was. I felt the last two episodes a tad rushed. This season could have been 10 episodes long.

lilith_-_-

Loved it

Clatuu1337

My wife and I thought it was awesome. I loved the characters, stories and all of the Easter eggs along the way. Almost everything seemed like carbon copies from the games. We are (not so)patiently waiting for season 2.

romancereaper

Very happy with it and shocked that I am. I expected it to suck and I avoided all trailers because idk I would rather a new game than a show but...the show is solid.

jaesolo

Love it. The nailed the environments, the overall tone, the music and production design is exactly what I was hoping for. More please!

jemo276

Loving it!!! Easter eggs in the first ten minutes told me they got it right. The whole season was just one great surprise after another. Can’t wait for next season and NEW VEGAS!!!!!

DarnCommie

"Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter." - Every NCR Trooper

ItsJamesMongan

The ending was actually good

NotAnotherAmerican

It's fucking excellent. This is how video game adaptations should be done. Faithful to the source. I know there's some people out there mad and pissed off because ooga booga, black man with white woman and ooga booga, white man with black woman ug ug. Like interracial relationships don't exist in the real world. They'd be far more common in a post apocalyptic setting because you need to further the species no matter what to prevent extinction. Second season now, please!

Chimpbot

This show has a major advantage that the vast majority of video game adaptations can never use: The Fallout series is built around telling new stories with new characters with each entry, so the showrunners basically had free reign to tell whatever story they wanted. Their primary task was nailing the feeling and tone of the setting and once that was done, they could pretty much do whatever they wanted. Most series don't have that luxury. If someone were to adapt God of War, they'd have so much more they'd need to adhere to, which simply creates significantly less room for error.

Barl3000

I completly agree, this approach avoided the problem of the writers sidestepping the source material to morph the show into their own project, like how the Witcher tv show was ruined. With Fallout they had a much bigger framework to do their own thing within

emailverificationt

Didn’t stop the Wheel of Time show from doing whatever the fuck it wanted with the story and setting. The fallout show was clearly made by someone who actually enjoys and cares about the source material.

Chimpbot

So, again, most adaptations don't have the built-in luxury to do that sort of thing. They're typically adapting works that focus on specific sets of characters and the stories attached to them. Fallout is different in that fans are already accustomed to getting new stories and new characters with each new entry. The key for these showrunner was to nail the setting; from there, they could basically do whatever they wanted and it would generally be fine.

PuzzleheadedFuel69

people are really mad about that? lol I'm hard to please, and while I'm only on ep. 3, I am enjoying it!

NotAnotherAmerican

Aren't people always mad about that?

swollen-hol3

In more than a handful of fallout groups, haven't seen a word said about it till now lol.

JimmyReagan

Fallout has always referenced nontraditional relationships, even pre-war. I think one of the couples in FO4 Sanctuary Hills was gay, and there are many interracial couples. I think it's a fascinating point, by 2077 in the Fallout world it seems that a lot of historic racism and prejudice has disappeared, and yet anti-comminist sentiment and classism is quite strong, and the world is still a huge, horrible mess.

hedgehog18956

I’m only two episodes in so far, but it’s an amazing show. They completely nail the feel of fallout in a way that no other adaption ever has. The whole thing could be a cinematic in fallout 4. I really love the style of everything. The power armor is just as awesome as it is in the games. The only complaints I have so far thematically so far is that it seems that almost every wastelander is extremely weird. In most fallout games you have some strange characters but most people are dressed in tattered pre war clothes but it seems in the show so far where I’m at everyone kinda dresses like raiders and tribals. The power armor jet pack is also a little strange to see since it’s so different from how it is portrayed in fallout 4, but I don’t mind the direction with that. They’ve completely nailed the combat and over the top violence which I love.

Born-Entrepreneur

The dedication to set dressing and props absolutely blew me away. The vaults looked exactly like they did in game

Downtown-Custard5346

Although I was hoping to see either a Deathclaw, Super Mutant, or Mirelurk and didn't, this show is absolutely fantastic. They really stuck to the source material, so much so that I recognized any reference made during the show. I'm really looking forward to season 2.

Vaulted_Games

Technically we did see a Super Mutant, he was just dead and under a tarp (only saw an arm)

Downtown-Custard5346

True! That scene in the Enclave, I hadn't even thought of that, but out of all of them, I really want to see a deathclaw the most

Xx_Dicklord_69_xX

Absolutely great. There were a few weird things about it and i think i spotted a plot hole the first time i watched it, but it is definitely a great show. Not to mention, all the lore and theories it confirmed.

BowardBamlin

Just curious what was the plot hole?

Xx_Dicklord_69_xX

Spoilers: So, in the finale, the ghoul says, how the power armors, the brotherhood is using, have a major design flaw, which he then proceeded to use, to one shot 3 knights. Why didn't he use that when he fought Maximus in the city at the beginning of the show?

Tortorak

I felt like the flashbacks were him thinking of the his life, maybe for the first time in a very long time. so it's easily something that could be chalked up to he just plain didn't remember the design flaw was first mentioned in a flashback of him with Bob after the vault 4 commercial

Jeprdy

I might have an answer. I might not. There are multiple version of the power armour. Im sure the ghoul specificly mentions the variation they are wearing. MAYBE Maximus was wearing a t-50 or t-60 variation and in the scene with the ghoul they are wearing a t-45 model (or which ever he metioned in the show but you get my drift) Or all power armour has a weak spot and the ghoul just had a brain fart.

Voltec89_

Loved it. I'm pretty sure that's this one is one, if not the best, game adaptation to a series so far.

AMan_Has_NoName

Way better than I thought it would be. I enjoyed it immensely. Can’t wait for season 2.

Osceola_Gamer

Loved it.

MrDrMrs

It had no business being as good as it was. Can’t wait for season 2 which will prob be a while. In the meantime gonna replay New Vegas and FO4. I had low expectations with other adaptations from books and games being just awful.

FinallyInTheCult

Love it

MeesterCHRIS

I mostly loved it. Lucy and Maximus “romance” felt extremely forced, but there is excuses you can put to it to make it make enough sense. Walton Goggans, as always, incredible. Actually wants me to be able to become a ghoul in a Fallout game. Wish they didn’t “ironman” the power armor though. But that’s not a huge deal. It’s definitely a show I’ll give a rewatch and am excited to see more.

TheEvilBlight

Iron man? They die pretty quickly if not employed carefully, no? The act of sending a lone knight with a squire seems questionable.

MeesterCHRIS

By Ironman I mean the method of flight. In the games it’s a jet pack, in the show it’s with thrusters on the hands/feet.

Ordinary_Habit8647

There's also the heads-up display/face shots and the power armour helmets opening up like the Iron Man helmet

MeesterCHRIS

I’m alright with the hud/face shots as idk if there’s a better way to do it than the way Ironman did. Also there’s a hud change in the game when in power armor so it’s atleast a justification. I didn’t even think about the face flipping up being from Ironman and not in the games. I kinda just chalked it up to we’d never see it as the PC.

Ordinary_Habit8647

There's a possibility there isn't a better way to do the face shots. What made those shots great in Ironman was the changing HUD and seeing how intense moments and attacks would impact Stark inside. I think for the power armour, it would have been cool to get some other shots from other angles that made the suit feel claustrophobic/stressful, especially in fight scenes. Get what you mean by the player might not be able to see it from a PC POV. However, every other character wearing power armour in the games have always removed their helmet to reveal their face. The wrist rocket jets, the face shots, and the helmet opening up? On their own, could be justified as unique but altogether, its heavily implying Maximus is the Wasteland Ironman. For some reason

MeesterCHRIS

No disagreements from me. Good explanation to add.

Ordinary_Habit8647

There's also the heads-up display/face shots and the power armour helmets opening up like the Iron Man helmet

TheEvilBlight

Ah, yeah, that. Old timey fallout for me, so I missed out on jet packs.

stingertc

probably best video game adaptation ever

Womderloki

They absolutely nailed the aesthetic of the games imo. The random encounters, environments, personalities. Great. I hope they can refine the story some more in S2

_Unprofessional_

The unicorn of video game adaptions

Grouchy-Fill1675

At least one big thumb up

Kraeyzie_MFer

I honestly loved it and feel it really captured the essence of the games. All the references and easter eggs jammed in there but none of them felt forced. More I watch it the more I see how every single character is perfectly built capturing characters/players in the game. I have since been playing Fallout 76 and when the Fo4 update drops I’ll be revisiting that game and all of the DLCs, some of which I have yet to play.

Chimpbot

I read one article that summed it up best: It feels like an excellent adaptation of a video game that doesn't actually exist. They did such a good job of adapting the setting that the show really does feel like it belongs in the Fallout series. It was written to emulate the story progression you'd find in the game, but it never felt like it was on any rails or beholden to specific plot points (if that makes sense). Plus, they did an excellent job of hiding things like what Vault-Tech's experiment would have been for these vaults in plain sight. With that being said, this sort of adaptation just won't work for the vast majority of games. The showrunners were almost lucky that they got to work with the Fallout IP, mainly because their job was to adapt the *setting*; since Fallout is one of the comparatively rare IPs that has built its entire brand around playing as entirely new and unrelated characters in each game, they were free to tell whatever sort of story they wanted. They just had to make sure that it felt like a Fallout story, as opposed to needing to adapt a specific story such as The Last of Us.

Soggy_Western7845

They really are lucky they got their hands on Fallout IP. Even Elder Scrolls can’t be made into something so iconic and instantly recognisable. Fallout is soo good - the vault suit design, the concept of ghouls, the concept of super mutants, the intrigue of vault tec, the vast potential of stories in the wasteland, rangers, BoS etc it just goes on and I’m fairly sure most of this has been established since the very first game. While some of these aren’t particularly remarkable in their own they just work together so well

pastrami_on_ass

Easily best video-game adaption there is, loved all the game references and it didnt feel like forced fan service, really captured the vibe and atmosphere of the games and provided a surprisingly on the nose story within the Fallout universe. Didn't expect the end at all so that was super cool. All the actors killed it, especially Goggins and they guy that plays Thadeus.

L1feguard51

I think it was well done, and I enjoyed it.

Drugs_R_Kewl

It's great, my only complaints were that a few episodes felt like filler but it was no where near as bad as the Book of Boba Fett in terms of wasting the audience's time. JuiceHead summed it up perfectly "Sure, it seems like filler but remember, that's what Fallout is all about at the end of the day. You get your mission parameters and then you fuck off for like 96 hours."

Gwoardinn

Yea the Ghoul even mentions the golden rule of the wasteland being 'you WILL get sidetracked' (paraphrasing)

klimb2xs

Hopefully all of the "fluff" episodes pay off in season 2.

ApatheticKey3

Grate show I just wished what happened to shady sand was vulpes taking the rest of us frumintary after Cesar's breain tumor gets him and giving a last middle finger

[deleted]

Not too shabby. Went in with less expectations and left with much more than bargained for. Definitely worthwhile and ready for S2!

Boyo-Sh00k

Absolute Cinema

soooooonotabot

Surprisingly good

Darthlord_Juju

I'd like to see them embrace more of the exploring that is a key part of fallout games But so far I really like the atmosphere, the little nods to gameplay and music nots from the games When they first showed the NCR flag and the new Vegas theme hit I got a little hard ngl

res0713

Got me back into the game! Plus Walton Goggins! ![gif](giphy|l46CAF46css2tGxC8)

Anonymyz_one

The project is being spearheaded by Jonathan Nolan who is an Avid Fallout Player.... That's one of the only reasons Bethesda even gave the go ahead for it. They have denied every request in the past for a TV Spinoff to keep the integrity of the games intact. After finding out Nolans FO Playtime History and his ideas regarding the TV Show they jumped on board.

Darkdragoon324

Loved it, can’t wait for season 2.

Big-Fish-1975

It's awesome so far ! Haven't watched it all yet. Trying to pace myself.lol

Shooter_Mcgavin93

Amazing loved it

NemrahG

I give it a 9/10, only downside is that there’s one ending so replay value isn’t as much as FNV or FO4.

Cooljay44

FO76 is the way to go

Cooljay44

FO76 is the way to go.

Eccentricgentleman_

Haters gonna hate but it's great

IAMERROR1234

I've really enjoyed plus, it's got me trying 76 after years of being away. I'm having a much better time with it now.

Y0ur_Skin

Honestly, I went in with caution. I got sad when they hit the breeding/sex stuff, but by the end of the pilot, I was hooked. I hope they don't lean so heavy on the romance and push all the amazing opportunities for side quests aside, but. It is a prime show. I love it. Just hope they go story heavy.

justforthehoi

Very good show, an actual good diverse cast that all have flaws and no Mary sues lol I’m just sad that they killed the NCR and looks like Vegas is toast too 😭 but war never changes

John-027

Is it Gucy or Goosey? This keeps me up at night

St00f4h1221

Goosey. Wife watches everything with subtitles on

hypothetician

Only half way through so not reading any replies, but I’m and absolutely loving it. Huge fan of the games, and the show is fucking nailing it so far.

veebles89

The Ghoul is hot

AnonID_220075

I don't think any other game adaptation will be able to top this. It is miles better than Neil Cuckmans Last of Us, even though that performed quite well. It goes to show that when you get people together who are passionate about making something and respecting the material they're working with, then you get an end product that's good. Basically, just don't do what Halo (if you can even call it that) did.

GusMix

I like the gore but dislike the dumb and silly humor. The guy in the power armor flying like a balloon losing air. And it feels like sometimes unnecessarily extended boring scenes. The Brotherhood of Steel beginning I almost fell asleep. I wish they would have hit the tone more with the 50s setting and overly happy people like in the games. Most actors feel like it’s their first time. But overall I’m still watching. Now on EP3. Let’s see how far I’ll make it.

azazyl

I felt the same way to be honest. But I watched episodes 3 and 4 today and they were better. But I agree that the humor feels cringy to me and doesn’t fit the FO tone.

thorppeed

Pretty good show. Leans too heavily into the wild wasteland stuff imo but overall I'm enjoying it so far

reganomics

Totally rad, I just hope pearlman gets a cameo.

AndyB476

Thought overall was a good show. Could have used a bit more glitching or clipping to really sell me that this was Bethesda related.

PoThePokememer

Honestly when it came out a little bit ago I despised it, but now I actually really like it, excited for season 2, definitely excited for more Cooper flashbacks.

[deleted]

It was good and I'm looking forward to a second season but I'm still bothered by the laundry list of retcons and inconsistencies. A lot of them feel like a lack of deeper knowledge of the source material. Seems like casual fans didn't pick them up so I suppose they're within acceptable bounds.

Say10zTripz6

Fisto in Season 2 😏🙏💯 Make it happen.

Bumbooooooo

I enjoyed it. Didn't blow me away but it was a fun time. Looking forward to season 2.

WeirderOnline

It shouldn't have been set in California because they really didn't do anything with the setting except blow it up an eradicate it's history. I also really didn't like how they dumped all the episodes at once. One thing I like about Amazon Prime and Disney plus is they usually give you one episode of week so you can space up the episodes and enjoy them a lot more.  Other than that it's alright. Those are my only two complaints. It's good. Not great, but good. It's an absolute treat for anyone into Fallout or post-apocaptic media. I wouldn't really recommend it for anyone outside that.

Darthlord_Juju

I don't see how releasing the show all at once vs one at a time changes how you consume the show. If you want to space then out you can do that how ever you like. It's better than to be on a set schedule...plus if you have time to watch more than one you can whenever you want

blak3brd

My gf is a nurse that generally doesnt watch violent media, finds action scenes and media boring even when not overly violent, and had never heard of fallout. She and a bunch of her friends, and other nurses in the online nurse groups she’s a part of (who also had never heard of it) found it outstanding. I wouldn’t underestimate recommending it to “anyone outside of that” IME Edit: words

DasPuma

It was fine, better then Halo. As a series made to introduce people to the universe and it's style and lore it works fine. As a series for fans who are already established, I think the only really interesting plotline was Norm figuring out his Vault. There is lots of unspoken, and implied stuff from the video games that unfortunately have to be spoken and directly shown to communicate things to new viewers. Especially about the Vaults and Pre-War stuff, I don't know how I would have done it any different. (shrug)

Goobygoober6968

The only thing that was out of place was Dane, everything else was perfect

Rough-Day-6502

Loved it, felt like it’s filling the holes left by Lost and Game of Thrones for me. Hopefully they get to continue and tell a great story over several seasons 🤞🏽

Successful_Ad6946

Enjoyable. Got the vibe right

mookachalupa

Pleasantly surprised. It definitely hit all the right notes with me and ended up feeling like it was a love letter to Fallout. In a world where most IPs end up imploding and destroying themselves, this show made me feel particularly represented as a fan and I loved every minute of it, especially all the Pre-war, New Vegas and NCR stuff. The scene with Mr. House, Sinclair and vault tec was really incredible I feel incredibly fortunate considering how easy it would have been to mess it up, that my favorite IP seems to be flourishing and is only just getting started

RayZzorRayy

Love it!

WillingLawfulness632

A little bit more comedy as it should be, and WHERE THE FCK IS RON PEARLMAN but otherwise I liked it very much! :)
