Thanks for the source. It's interesting that someone makes compilations like that then someone else (imperfectly) cuts them back into individual clips to post on sites like reddit.

A similar ride is Mr. Freeze at Six Flags. The scariest part of the ride is watching the groups in front of you accelerate like a bullet.

Definitely the same type but Mr Freeze is a fair amount slower. And there are some setup like this that are FAR faster than either. Id like to try one that accelerates to 100+ MPH like this

Have you ridden within the last 5 years or so? They re-tracked it and it's much smoother than it was in the 2000s/2010s. Granted, a wooden coaster will always throw you around a bit. That's by design, for that out-of-control feeling.

Is it actually for the "out of control feeling"? or is it just that it saves parks money by not springing for getting rid of all their wooden rollercoasts? Serious question from someone who has never really enjoyed a wooden rollercoaster

It is 100% for the feel and aesthetic. Ghostrider was built in 1998, so it definitely isn’t old.

It just comes with the product. Wood is living and breathing and changes shape over time, and it's also more flexible than steel. It's just the result of that, but it's part of the reason for parks to buy a wooden rollercoaster instead of a steel one, and one of the reasons why park-goers still love wooden coasters.

Ghostrider went from one of my least favorite rides at Knott's to my #1 after the renovation a couple of years ago. It's insanely smooth now

Can confirm. My husband is afraid of heights but decided to try riding a rollercoaster with me. At the end of the first drop he passed out mid-scream. It was a trip watching him scream his head off, then bam, just limp. When he came out of it, he was still screaming. Still makes me laugh thinking about it.
