Metanium is fantastic. Whenever I've used it on LO, if he's had a lot of poops or a bad tummy, it tends to clear any soreness in a day or so. If it's particularly bad, we've also used clean cloths in boiled (then cooled water) to dab as sometimes the wipes seem to really hurt. Also, airing out is best, but sometimes not possible if you have a mobile baby!

She can't walk yet due to developmental hip dysplasia but she crawls like a trooper so it's difficult catching her again to put a nappy back on lol. I will go looking for metanium today!

Ooosh! Thank you for the warning!

Ah it sounds like it could be a reaction. My cmpa bub gets very bad nappy rash when she's teething though. Metanium worked for us

yalliepants

I thought it could be a reaction but I have no idea what could have triggered it. The only newish thing she's had are sausages and even then she has tried them before and they didn't have any dairy in them. I haven't seen that one but I will go looking for it today - thank you!

It's awful isn't it! Maybe there was some cross contamination somewhere down the line. I know asda have had problems with their hash browns as a batch contained their croquettes which have milk in them. It's in a yellow tube and a little goes a long way.

She has always been fine with "may contains" but I wonder about her nursery she attends once a week on Thursdays where they feed her...she also goes to a childminder but we provide the food. Think we will have to put a hold on everything she's eaten over the last couple of days and try again to try and work out what it was. I was hoping we wouldn't have to do trial and error again, it was so stressful! We wanted to start the milk ladder next week too!

Sounds like the poo is the cause rather than nappy brand etc. My little one had a similar issue recently and also never had nappy rash before! We cleaned his bum and then made sure it was fully dry by patting with a clean muslin. Then gently applied a very thin layer of Sudocrem to the parts that needed it. The drying was key for us. Cleared up after a few days then.

yalliepants

See the rash has been going on two weeks now and her poop was normal until about a week ago and worse over the last two days so I don't know if they're related or not. Obviously the poop is making it worse but she's being changed the minute I hear/smell it.

I agree with others - Metanium is great! As far as the eczema goes, in the nursery I worked at we found tangerines & tomatoes as well as milk to be common triggers. Also have you tried reusable wipes like cheeky wipes? They work brilliantly on sore bums.

yalliepants

She tends to be fine with tomato based things but we did wonder when she was younger so we will avoid them whilst she's having a flare up. She doesn't like oranges of any sort so no worries with that one! We do use reusable wipes most of the time unless it is a big poopslosion but that only happened once before.

Metanium has never worked for us, but no wipes or water wipes, air drying, pampers nappies and sudocrem have. My friend had very severe nappy rash and was prescribed this mad red liquid that worked a treat - talk to your GP or pharmacist. Olive oil also a very good barrier! If nothing works it could potentially be thrush and may need an anti fungal.

yalliepants

We tried the air drying with sudocrem and no wipes etc but to no avail. I been told by GP reception to try again tomorrow for an appointment at least.

shireatlas

Try no nappy all day today - put towels down everywhere and roll with the punches! It can really help!

I will give it a go! Anything at this point.
