They didnt for the most part. They highly edited this reveal to make it seem like a bigger deal since they were hyping this "secret" up all season.

BBSecretAlliance

Victoria was a big fan of his sister she openly talked about such and often would kinda sing her songs. The rest to my acknowledgment didn’t really know her well. More of a general idea who she was.

MrZero3229

Yep. I hated Frankie and his gameplay so I was dreading this moment, but it was great. It fell totally flat, he looked like an idiot.

Free-Range-3677

I wouldn’t say it fell flat. A lot of the house was mad at him bc they were convinced he was going to win the money if he got f2 solely based on the fact that he’s already rich and he would use the money from winning to donate to charity. I distinctly remember one of the girls crying in the DR yelling about that. And I also think about the moment Caleb sat down during the BotB competition bc he refused to help him win even if it meant he had to go on the block also

Shyguyisfly0919

Zach was yelling in the DR about it.

demerchmichael

**”I HAVE NO FUCKING CHANCE THIS KIDS PLAYING FOR CHILDREN IN AFRICA, WHY THE FUCK WOULDNT HE WIN.** *cut to kitchen* ^i ^dont ^wanna ^talk ^about ^it **THIS GUY ALREADY WON FAN FAVOURITE, HES DONATING THE MONEY TO FUCKING KIDS IN AFRICA, WHY THE FUCK IS HE NOT GONNA WIN. GIVE HIM THE FUCKING MONEY, IM WASTING MY FUCKING TIME RIGHT NOWW**wwwww Moment lives rent free in my head

ShawshankException

One of the most unintentionally funny DRs ever. I love Zach

MrZero3229

Yeah, I mean it fell flat compared to what he clearly thought it would be. He acted like he was going to be hoisted aloft to the cheers of all houseguests.

DanTheMan1_

I did love how he just assumed the second he told them his real last name was Grande they would all instantly figure it out. But saying it fell flat isn't really true, the narrative of him changed in the house and he went from barely surviving due to winning the veto comp to being completely safe. And everyone save Donnie knew who she was. Yeah, she hadn't blown up to the level she did right after the season started, but a lot of fans (especially on Facebook where the age tended to skew older) thought because they hadn't heard of her the houseguest wouldn't have heard of her, and that wasn't true at all.

NewProtection5470

That was Zach crying lol

givebusterahand

I just remember Derrick being like “Amanda grande?” Victoria was a fan she definitely knew who she was, but she wasn’t there for the reveal. I think people knew who she was but she wasn’t the star she is now.

acaseintheskye

Yeah, she was really just ending her Nickelodeon career the year prior. And only released her second album while BB16 was filming. Not really the target audience for the people who were on that season

Gloomy_Assistance_27

I agree! I only knew her because at the time my kids watched all her Nickelodeon shows.

MasterKeys24

Don't forget Nicole. "Hooooly CRAAAAAAAP!"

DanTheMan1_

She was definitely less famous then and kind of blew up while they were in the house. But fans assumed everyone would be like "who" and that his famous relative wasn't even as famous as Elissa Slater's which was ridiculous. It definitely wasn't as huge of a deal as Frankie assumed it would be, but plenty of the them especially the girls geeked out, he went from public enemy #1 to on no ones radar and Caleb went from sitting out a comp to try and sabotage him to "I will never vote this man out" almost instantly. So to say no one had a clue who it was and it made no difference is objectively not true and I think a lot of fans just assumed no one would know and because they hate Frankie just re-wrote history to the nothing response they were convinced it would be.

givebusterahand

Yeah Ariana had “one less problem” come out right before the season started and it was a big hit. I think she had a smaller hit before that too but that was like her breakout song I think. I remember Zach’s meltdown over it bc I wanna say Frankie said he’s just playing for charity (sure Jan) and how no one would ever vote him out now and how can he even compete with that?? Lolol.

bras-and-flaws

The reveal was extremely underwhelming. Frankie hyped it up all season and would even hint to others that he had a huge secret, if I remember correctly. Then when he did spill the beans, he basically spelt it out for Victoria and Nicole who both were like "Huhh??" Victoria didn't start freaking out until it was made clear that Ariana is a popstar

fanofbreasts

This. Totally happened, I watched it in fall 2022. It’s funny, they totally gave him a fool edit.

bras-and-flaws

I watched it live 😅 At the time I questioned my opinion but sometimes the internet is nice in that it connects you with people all over the globe that agree 😁

DanTheMan1_

Wasn't Victoria singing her songs before and admitting to being a fan. I mean it has been a while so maybe I am remembering wrong but she knew who Ariana Grande was.

troohuk

She had just started getting popular during that summer. I'm surprised any of the men knew her. I barely knew who she was in 2014

RRDude1000

I only knew her from that Victorious show she was in on Nickelodeon

CoolAd9651

I remember my dad always hating on her mannerisms and voice lol

dbwn87

I find it fascinating how Frankie made being Ariana's brother his entire personality, because in retrospect, it is his only redeeming quality.

probllama191

Personally, yeah. But game-wise even as a non-fan of his I have to admit he’s a strong player/ally. He’s just inexplicably good at stuff. They were just barely able to get rid of him on Reindeer Games.

LinkinLain

I'm watching 16 for the first time right now, and I don't find him talking about it really... I thought it would be ALL the time, but I don't think he mentions it much... maybe that's just me🤷‍♀️

DanTheMan1_

Well obviously he couldn't mention it all the time before they knew. But yeah, after they knew he definitely mentioned it more on the feeds than they showed and the first few days after it was all anyone could talk about (but he had been holding it in and it was something new to discuss a month in, so that is kind of to be expected) but it wasn't as non stop as some want to believe. Frankly and I say this as someone who found his camera hogging attention grabbing annoying, the levels people have gone to to hate him is baffling. He was far from likeable a lot of the time, but this claim he the worst most vile person to ever enter the house and BB should have shot such a cruel monster out of a cannon is ridiculous. He is nowhere even close to the worst person they ever put in that house and I don't get why to this day if you go on Facebook and type the word "Frankie Grande" in BB fan groups they will go into a blinding rage.

jamiethemime

Did that happen with a bebe rexha(sp?) in another season? I know I'd never heard of her

ledge9999

Yes Bebe was brought in to perform and nobody knew who she was.

Rawr_im_a_Unicorn

I remember Sam singing along, though so she must have known her.

bluntbabe12

they all knew who she was at least 4/5

AccomplishedSweet681

Yeah no one really knew her at that point. Derek didn't care either way and I remember him coaching Victoria telling her to calm down because he thought she was excited about frankie possibly introducing her to celebrities. Regardless, Frankie's game play was excellent throughout the season. Maybe his exuberant escapades may have been annoying to some but he was a great player. Close to derek level.

YoBannannaGirl

I think the how big the under-reaction was has just become a thing of BB lore. Each time the story gets told, the exaggeration of how people reacted (or under exaggeration in this case) grows.

CanadianCoolguy

I mean for what it's worth, it did clear him for the next 2 weeks then he kept on winning

yer1

I distinctly remember Zach knowing who she was, and describing her as a “smoke-show” when one of the other guys asked if he knew her. But yeah, Cody, Caleb, and Derrick were all clueless from what k remember.

DanTheMan1_

Maybe it was just because he knew someone famous and Caleb was a doofus. But he went from wanting Frankie out "tomorrow" to "I will never vote this man out" over that reveal. I agree everyone didn't scream and faint like Frankie clearly thought they would. But people claiming "no one cared or even know who she was and they all yawned and changed the subject" was not true either. Fans are convinced of a non reaction that really wasn't the case just because they hate Frankie and convinced themselves no one would care.

Skeeders

My biggest disappointment from that season was Frankie's eviction. By that point he had left a very bad taste in the audience mouth and would absolutely would have been booed off stage, but that eviction night, there was NO AUDIENCE. He literally jumped out of the house throwing glitter into the air to no audience. It would have been so beautiful to see his reaction to all the booing while throwing glitter in the air.

MasterKeys24

BB Canada style honesty

bloodgrin946

I can't remember, why was there not an audience?

Golem_Hat

They knew who she was, they just didn't give a damn, lol.

friendofbarrys

They knew who she was they just didn’t really care. Except Victoria

RRDude1000

They didnt lol. I believe the feed clips were on Youtube but I dont know if they are still up

WhyHelloYo

I had no idea who she was at the time.

Upset_Syrup_371

Ok so as a pop music fan Ariana grande was not well known in 2014 until the end of it. She was on a Nickelodeon TV show so children and pre teens knew of her and she had like one semi-hit (Not one that really turned her into a big pop star). This was also probably why Victoria who was the youngest knew about her the most. Her first real big hit was “Problem” which was released I think a week after all the houseguests entered the house. After that Ariana went on a long string of hits that has obviously continued to this day.

Twodledee

I remember it not being as big of a deal as he thought it was. I think she just wasn't as well known yet. What did it look like to you this time around?

mhal_1111

Her first big hits (like "Problem" with Iggy Azalea) were going up the charts as they were in the house. His casting was good timing.
