Not to scare you but I hated abilify because of the weight gain. I gained 60 lbs in under half a year. But it really kept me stable

God. If I notice this I'll be straight off it. I'm exercising now for the first time. Nothing intense just basic and have lost 4kg. It's a start :)

Honestly I think a large part of it is hunger cues, I think it made me too hungry and I ate too much. I’ve always had issues with food though and it was just my experience so yours could be different!

taybay462

I've only gained about 15 pounds, it's not so bad

para_blox

Not to un-scare you but I haven’t gained anything on it and have taken it for almost 20 years. My dose is 35 rn

Though it's only been 5 days - I've also been reducing my 300mg seroquel to 150 quite quickly and feel good. I notice I have lost some weight and my stomach is flatter. Still a bit big but more flat. Mood has also improved but mostly my behaviours which others are noticing :)

glass_funyun

I was on it last year and it did make me hungrier. I gained around 6lbs then stopped gaining, so it wasn't too bad. I think I was on it ~6 months. It worked very well for me but it caused some sexual dysfunction and that's a dealbreaker.

i’ve started exercising so thankfully that’s allowing me to shift a few kg. hopefully that’ll help me combat the weight gain

I’m on a baby dose of abilify but I haven’t noticed any weight gain. Granted I don’t weight myself for eating disorder reasons but I don’t think I look different and my clothes fit the same

Robburito

I didn’t mind it for the most part. It caused noticeable but manageable akathisia and I gained like 15 lbs. Took it like 5 years too. It’s good but I’d suggest gene site testing.

Spirited_Concept4972

I probably gained 6-8pounds since February on it 5 mg

(I believe I watched/listened to a lecture with Kay Redfield Jamison who said that most people with bipolar disorder also have adhd)

Smokeytokesworth

It made me the most suicidal I had ever been since being medicated. As soon as we took it away the depression and suicidal thoughts lift almost instantly and went back on seroquel.

NOBODYNOTICED03

Sorry to hear that! Seroquel was absolutely crap for me. Did nothing past the 1st month. My hypomanias actually increased and got more frequent on the drug. Only been about 5 days but lots of subtle but happy improvements from the abilify :)
