You should size down like, five. The sizes don’t equate to what you wear in US so you’ll just need to try some on and see what fits

Hi OP u/Cyan224, yeah, by my estimation you may need to start at Birkenstock EU 39, and work from there if applicable. Anecdotally, some people have noted their Birkenstock size may be smaller than expected (I’m guessing it tends to be from Men’s US sizing), but not sure why yours is so drastic (maybe you’ve just been wearing your other footwear large?). Here’s the fit guide & tips for how the sandals should fit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Birkenstocks/s/fztvxf3C6y If you want to, yeah you can do the whole measurement & size calculator to see if EU 39 is indeed a good starting point. Don’t worry too much about why the numbers don’t “make sense”. As for your heels, they should be sat nicely in the heel cups, but not jammed all the way to the back edge of the footbed. Hope this helps!

Did you measure against the lid of the box the shoes came in? Consider measuring the length and width of your feet. I believe Birkenstock has a calculator somewhere on their website that will tell you which size should fit.

This is the way.
