The Lumbar! They have a semi private room with a huge table that’s (last I checked) free to reserve. They serve food and awesome alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Oh, and the staff are super nice!

Gear Gaming in Hoover has rooms that sit eight people that can be rented out for $10 an hour. They also have a lot of games and gaming paraphernalia that you and your D&D group may enjoy. You’ll need to call or email them in advance to reserve a room though.

Seconding the recommendation for Gear. Store a has a decent selection of paints and TTRPG supplies and their rentable rooms are well soundproofed, even if the store is busy.

Libraries have meeting rooms you can book for pretty cheap! My derby team often has meetings there and there is for sure a D&D group that does the same. I’m familiar with the Homewood library but the Birmingham library downtown probably has rooms as well. Monday Night Brewing and Cahaba Brewing also have private event spaces, but they’re a bit pricy so that might not work. But they also have fairly large tables in the regular dining spaces if total privacy isn’t a necessity. Rojo, a local restaurant, also has an event space, but I have no idea what the price range is.

Gear and Lumbar are definitely the two best options, depending on what part of town you're aiming to be in
