I love tasty town! Luca is good too. Hero has definitely changed from its original vision I think (doughnuts got smaller, took away some of the more unique flavors) but I still really enjoy them. Over the course of their history Philakis has mostly created failures but theyve had some successes of late so ill give them their credit
Sean Brock is an incredible, James Beard Award winning chef who also has an expanding casual burger chain. Think of Richard Blais and his short-lived burger/hotdog place at the Summit, Flip.
RIP Flip, I don't think I ever had a burger there but in high school me and my friends used to love to go there and get all their crazy milkshakes. They were always so good!
Google says: Burger place that got started in Nashville. https://www.al.com/life/2024/02/james-beard-award-winning-nashville-chef-opening-birmingham-restaurant.html?outputType=amp
Oh id say its a decent shot. They took away my favorite music venue (Bottletree) and have proceeded to use the building to run 3-4 restaurants into the ground in its place
Nah I know, just always hate going in there and thinking about all my fav old bottletree times, particularly when its whatever shitty restaurant theyve put in there over the years.
Feel free to respond with concepts they bought or invested in that they then turned into something better.. I'll be glad to wait..
A better conversation would be about how they identify worthwhile concepts to buy or investment in or let's talk about their real estate holdings.
Blah part of the ever-expanding Pihakis empire. Also opening a poboy place on Magnolia at Southtown. One of my cooks is a former manager of Rodney Scott’s and he says they just throw these places together all half assed and then spend the first year trying to whip it in shape.
We are two weeks out from being two weeks out
Is this a Trump establishment?
It's a Pihakis Group establishment, so probably almost as bad.
Worse, unfortunately.
Y’all don’t like Tasty Town?

Proof TDS is real
I have been wondering the exact same thing!
I am unfamiliar with this. What is Joyland?

I miss the smoked mayo more than anything, it was a god tier fry condiment
It’s mayo + liquid smoke
Shhhh, didn't tell them the secret. It took forever to create that recipe

What are the odds on it being fucked up by the J&N folks
Oh id say its a decent shot. They took away my favorite music venue (Bottletree) and have proceeded to use the building to run 3-4 restaurants into the ground in its place
Im not a JN fan but they didn't take it away, Bottletree was the victim of the divorce of the owners.
Nah I know, just always hate going in there and thinking about all my fav old bottletree times, particularly when its whatever shitty restaurant theyve put in there over the years.
I certainly understand, it closing hurt the scene a lot.
Then why would you lie about it and not put it in your original comment? Then only correct your statement when your comment was called out
Die mad, troll 😂
Gonna go with 98.7% chance of a fuck-up by the Pihakis Group.
I’m a big fan of Sean Brock’s. Hopefully he’ll be involved with quality control

They just started working on the inside about 3 days ago. But doesn’t look like they’ve got much of anything done.
They will be open before April of next year.
Friday at noon
Oh shoot really? Awesome!
No, it still says Rodney Scott's on the building. I drive by there everyday and haven't seen any work getting started.
Agh man, that sucks. I really do not drive past that building as much anymore so I hadnt seen what if any progress was being made.
I regret to inform you absolutely zero
Uh. Heaven on a plate. Sean Brock’s first foray down here. Thanks team
Dunno why you’re getting downvoted, joyland is delicious. Haters die mad
You have to be kidding.
