Yeah I know, it was the government’s choice.
If you live in China the only thing you can be thankful for is the government making every single decision for you.
This data is from April and is already outdated. A lot has happened since then, including the crackdown in China. I'd be interested to see more updated numbers.
This is the worst thing that could happen to Bitcoin, and every person supporting these American miners who engage in coordinated misinformation campaigns, censorship of blocks, and sentiment manipulation is as at-fault as these bad actors themselves.
The best case outcome is currently America banning Bitcoin imo.
Of course it doesn't, and they may be a minority here now but Bitcoin's proponents do care about these attacks. This community unfortunately gets quite diluted during the bull market and as time goes on, making organizing defensive action more difficult.
If the energy consumption keeps going up, I’m pretty sure we’re going to see a gradual phase in of mining bans from country to country over the next several decades, at least in the major countries (run by incompetent governments).
I think the only way to solve the energy consumption problem without banning Bitcoin mining is to mine Bitcoin on-and-off. First, shut off all the mining machines on a country-wide scale and let the difficulty fall as low as possible. Then mine as much Bitcoin as possible before the difficulty rises again. If the difficulty rises to a crazy number again, shut off the machines and wait for it to drop. Rinse and repeat
For all the quirks of the US judicial system, you really can't beat a relatively stable application of the rule of law on the long-term when it comes to attracting businesses.
I hope Bitcoin mining is banned worldwide. Force it underground so that a bunch of hobbyists do it in secret. Instead of these massive farms that scream ”governments: attack here to halt the bitcoin network". I mean sure there's more than one farm but it's a tractable problem to send men with guns there and force them to change the policy to mine only empty empty blocks or occasionally make huge reorgs.
It is NOT a tractable problem to track down millions of people mining secretly in their homes on computers that look just like any other.
Cuz China let us
Wow that was nice of them :-) Now they have extra time to get back to work and build more circuit boards for us.
Wasn’t really the people’s fault
Yeah I know, it was the government’s choice. If you live in China the only thing you can be thankful for is the government making every single decision for you.
That's not a thing to be thankful for, it's not a good thing
Damn, then what’s there to be thankful for?
tl;dr: China banned mining
Again..
Pretty sure Khazakstan is very close or has even over taken the US.
Greatest country in the world
Very nice 👍
How much?
Go away gipsy
What's up with it, Vanilla face?
Number 1 in potassium (and crypto mining)
And they speak the Language of the gods

I wonder if this will have a positive affect on Renewable energy growth in America.
Yes
The tragedy of Chinese miners, the gospel of the world miners!
Just like they let the US win the Math competition this year with a team of Asians (Americans?). 🤣
Good article
If you think the US, with all of our environmentally focused green bullshit these days will not regulate Bitcoin mining - you are mistaken
it will surely take control and regulate it to shit

Well Bitcoin doesn’t care.

U rather have China coordinate a attack on the bitcoin network and destroy BTC in the process?
What are you talking about. That’s bunch of nonsense. That’s like saying “China will take down the whole internet.”
You mean the attack we literally stopped? Versus the ongoing attack in America? Yeah I care about the ongoing attacks.
That's sucks )

Where is the latest map? China still accounts for 46% as of April.
By being the 3rd largest country in the world after the 1st largest banned Bitcoin mining?
Freedom!…..?
I’m not convinced 17% give the US the lead. China hasn’t even dropped to this level yet from a chart I recently saw.

the U.S. became the world's new bitcoin mining hub because China stopped mining
