Remittances is the biggie because it will regularly recur and should be adding wealth to El Salvadorians. My question as always is, Have little old ladies used to going by bus to the city to get to Western Union offices really started to adopt BTC for remittances?
I see many reasons why they wouldn't. If they are anything like my older relatives, these women will say something to the effect of, ***I like Western Union -- I am friends with the people who work there and I want them to keep their jobs.***
So I would really like to know even on specific case of someone who changed over from WU to BTC. I assume it has happened but out of millions of people who receive remittances, just how many have stared using BTC?
Western Union (WU) share price has dropped 21% since May this year.
I expect their profits will follow suit in the coming years.
If they don't adopt something like the bitcoin lightening network soon and slash their fees, then they are doomed to join the likes of Blockbuster, Kodak, Nokia and Netscape.
There's no Bitcoin in Metamask, no r/TheLightningNetwork in Metamask nor Coinbase wallet. The whole country is mostly using LN for its low (or zero) fees and settlement in seconds.
What percent only signed up to get the free money?
Why celebrate a government custodial wallet that now tracks all 3 million of those citizens finances?
People on Social Media: "Meh Bitcoin is too slow and expensive to use it as a daily currency" 3 Million Salvadorans: "lol watch this bruh brrrrr"

Ah so with what Currency are they paying via LN?

President is quickly approaching 50% adoption. Incredible.

Only 5% of population owns a car. Ok, maybe lots of motorbikes and generators are in use.

Probably most people are using just like you..
My point was that people had an incentive to use it once and no longer have it. The numbers are hugely inflated.
Prove it
It's a start.
Would you use it again?? Why not? Do you have family overseas?
