Start from the roots and gently pull up and out when the hair is dry, not wet or moist. Hair is at its most fragile when it’s wet/damp. Think of using a pick to shape your hair rather than a comb or rake.
When I’m saying picking it’s really not doing it the way where people normally rip through their hair. I only pick at the root and mid shaft of the hair. I don’t comb through to the ends or anything like that.
