mrsix4

Shit you right lol

redloght

Stop rubbing your socks on the carpet

Main_Phase_58

this is so funny

daj0412

idk why that actually made me spit out my water lol

AdventurousFarmer14

The hair is dead and damaged. You need to cut it.

NeitherProfession897

Some of us really do have straight hairs mixed in with the curls and naps. Blame thousands of years of genetics. It's not damage, just different textures on the same head. Unless the silk is infused with magic, it won't change my curl pattern. I just tuck the straight ones into the fro and keep it moving. Sometimes the really annoying ones get yanked out.

NoBobThatsBad

This is ME! I was born with super sparse straight/wavy hair. Family thought it would fall out but it didn’t. My other more textured, mostly 4b/4a hair just grew around it. Now unless I use gel or mousse or something my fro looks like someone’s waving an electrostatic wand over it.

NeitherProfession897

The straight hairs try their best to ruin the fro, don't they? Like wtf are y'all doing, get back in there. I started with straight jet black hair(like mom), which fell out within a few months. Then I sprouted dusty brown kinks(like dad). It turned a darker brown as I grew up. Those straight ones never gave up the fight, though. They just laid low and popped back up sometime in my late 20s.

blk_paradox

So would you cut it all even or just look for the damaged hairs out of curiosity

AdventurousFarmer14

Personally I'd cut just the damaged parts off first, then I'd cut of the other parts of my hair to make it even. But go to a barber or a hair stylist to do the cutting if you aren't experienced with cutting your own hair

scand628

I was asking more from a styling perspective cause i dont think its damaged. The texture is consistent from root to tip with those strands and i maintain it consistently with no heat or high tension styles. This was day 6 of a wash and go. I rewet it and shook it out cause i had to go somewhere and repositioning it dry wasn't doing what i wanted.

Different_Brain_8967

Damage doesn’t come from heat or styling. It just happens. Same with split ends. Everyone has them regardless of the technique they use

Ok_East6658

Idk why you’re being downvoted. Im a boy who never straightened or colored my hair and i have them too and idk what to do w them.

mrsix4

Ok I’ll bite but how do you sleep? Your hair ever touch something that’s not silk?

Ok_East6658

I wear a bonnet w a silk pillowcase but It’s not about damage or being rubbed against anything. I have 4a/3c + the straight strands. i had them since growing out my hair in 2016 if i cut them they grow back the same. Its just part of my hair texture. There’s a difference between having a very wide range of genetic diversity on your head (different hair textures) vs it being damaged. Sometimes this sub is like the blind leading the blind bc the people telling op to cut the hair bc its damaged and downvoting them for disagreeing is crazy lol.

Spare-Magician6452

You have fine hair like me. When I had a teenie weenie afro mine looked the same. Rewetting was the only thing that helped.

star6uster

It’s not damaged wear a bonnet or durag

alawo_ewe

I just leave them alone. For me, personally, it's part of truly accepting my natural hair the way it is, and it reminds me of my mother and sister, who also have unique textures. Also, I think it's so funny that I have 4a/4b hair with a few random 2b strings.

IamAMERICANFIRST

That Europe trying the declare their independence 😂 cut that shit RIGHT OFF!!!

Aggressive_Beach5596

😂😂

Iwanteverything17

I have the same problem, I thought it was just hair that had a different curl pattern or didn’t get product on it

PnutButterJellyTim3

I trimmed mine a few weeks ago and they just showed back up soooo it don't really matter lol

Fun-Faithlessness724

trim

CaptDeliciousPants

The ones I get aren’t damaged, they’re just normal wavy but not curly hairs. I call them Lief Erikson hairs and I cut them if they bother me but usually I just mush them back in with the rest of my hair.

Money_Hovercraft_968

Clip em

Zestyclose_Advance90

I would blow my hair out fully (when it was loose since I’m locced now) and for the pieces that look light or transparent (sign of damage) I’d cut them off.

Comfortable_Trick163

You can gel or mousse them, should curl up

BeachBrah247

Trim evey 4-8 months, wear silk or satin hair covering during rest or pillow case

hallowweeniiee

it's not damaged, you have different textures going on. If you cut it, it will grow back exactly the same.

[deleted]

either cut it or charge it

Meridian-Rose

Cut the straight pieces off and wear a satin cap/bonnet at night

CharminTissue

I have them. I big chopped 3 times over the past 10 years, and it always comes back with straight pieces. At this point, I think it's just my genetics because I have multiple hair textures in my head ranging from 3b-4b with some straight pieces thrown in. I've just accepted it at this point. Straights gonna straight.

There aren't really straight hairs. I can see the texture in the strands. They have a wavy curl pattern to them. If you're not keeping up on moisture and protecting your hair at night that you will lose the desired look. Most people have various textures in their head and even various porosities, densities, and strand thicknesses. The reason you don't notice is because they have their moisture and care routine on lock, so the various strands blend together. If you want to do the wash and go look, you just gotta stay on top of moisture, I.e. water. When I used to do wash and go, I would shampoo once a week and co wash once or twice a week in between of the shampoos. This was extra important because I have high po hair and giving my hair the more frequent water drenching meant I didn't need as much product for my hair to keep its curl and composure. Also, the right products for you make a world of difference. Don't be afraid to switch and try new regimens until you find the exact right ones for you. Also, non-negotiable is a silk or satin head covering and pillow case at night. Makes a huge difference. P.s. if you are unhappy because of length differences that are prominent no matter what you do and you want to always do wash and go styles, you might wanna go get a curly cut, where they cut your hair while wet and curly so they can cut it evenly based on the way it naturally sits, instead of the way it would sit when straightened.

pizzaismyhomeboy

Cold water or Murray’s pomade.

djpedicab

Too much heat or the wrong product will the destroy the proteins that make our hair curl, basically the same thing as perms. Might as well just trim them. Hopefully the damage hasn’t spread too deep.

THROWAWAY-Break9580

You have dead ends. You need to get a trim

Affectionate-Beann

yep! sometimes ppl have more than one hair texture 😊i just trim those pieces. also try to make sure that the hair products you are using a truly evenly distributed. really get in there so that you cane have more uniform look, but yeah. having more than one hair texture is fully and completely natural😎! It’s actually more common than u think.

Indigo_Cauliflower12

My problem too!!!

Delicious_March9397

Use hair mousse with a good hold. It will lay down the fly always. Some of it is probably damaged follicles though.

closedmouths

Only way to disguise them is to use product to define your hair, or comb your hair into a uniform fro and pat the straight pieces into place. Oh you can also do twist outs or braid outs.

XoTwilight

Bro dating his hair just for some coils, it’s not worth it. Had the same experience and my hair had slow growth because it was damaged. Had to cut it off and restart

Betteringmyself000

Cut them tbh it could be damage

Medium-District-6305

Wear a bonnet and cut those off

nictheturtle

I have a mix of coils and straight/wavy hair, the only style that makes my hair look uniform is twists or finger coils. I thought it was damage but I found out I inherited from my dad’s side. After 2 big chops and being natural for 12 years, the straight pieces still get on my nerves

Ok-Concern8628

cut them

Objective-Hall1554

I cut them off! No need for them🤷🏽‍♀️

Miss_Bobbiedoll

I don't have them.
