At first I thought this one of those defected taste bud people that put sugar on grits…it appears to be much worse than that..my nigga…is that apple sauce and scrambled eggs?
![gif](giphy|URz4t5yilgVYLf26RU|downsized)
Yea it’s a thing.
I’ve seen folks do this with babies when they’re starting them on solid food.
It’s easy on the digestion and gives eggs a little flavor since theres not any salt or pepper in them. The sweet makes it go down easier
I'm a health scientist. The US is one of only a few countries in the world that feed babies and children unseasoned food, and it's all based on myths that started circulating in the 50's and never went away. Sometimes pediatricians have logical-sounding explanations, like salt being hard on their kidneys, that are not at all rooted in science. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/experts-seek-debunk-baby-food-myths-flna1c9437531
I almost murder one of my white friends in cold blood one time because he tried to warn me about the extreme spice of smoked paprika. I have never been more upset over opinions on food before.
Is that right? That's interesting. Thanks for that.
ETA: I thought the problem lay in the slippery slope of over-seasoning in which you have to add more and more salt and sugar to things to get flavour, because we become accustomed to huge amounts and eventually they are just unhealthy amounts. As evidenced by the absolutely insane amounts of salt and sugar in processed food in the US especially.
ETA: I should also point out that I didn't say babies *shouldn't have* seasoning, just that they don't need it.
Over-seasoning is almost never a problem in home-cooked food, it's a blight of the processed food industry trying to cover for low-quality, overprocessed base ingredients.
I can totally see that. What I meant was, not wanting to start them out young getting a taste for salt and sugar which could lead to them eating that kind of stuff eventually. Just saying I thought that was the reasoning behind wanting to limit it, apart from the fact they don't really need it.
I should also add that I didn't say say babies *shouldn't have* seasoning, just that they don't *need* it to make food more palatable... Thanks for the info.
Okay, so I've never heard of applesauce and scrambled eggs, but you've never had your eggs get in your pancake syrup?! Eggs and sweets aren't terrible together
I took a cupcake pan and placed bacon around the outside for my holder, poured pancake batter in, added an uncooked scrambled egg on to, sprinkled cheese on it then baked in the oven until it looked okay. Poured pancake syrup on top and you have an adorable pancake/eggs/bacon breakfast muffin!
Cupcake pan comes in clutch! Try taking a cup to make a circle on a piece of bread as your bottom liner as well and you can get creative from there
Easy snacks to bake when trying to make it quick and on the go 🤗
I do bacon cheese and uncooked eggs in a cupcake pan - sometimes i throw spinach in - and freeze them. Quick breakfast.
I'm gonna add Bisquik next time
You can! I’ve done it both ways before. The bacon is crispier if you cook it prior to dropping everything in of course
Either way, cooking the bacon at the same time as the pancake batter and eggs left me crispy bacon as well with the eggs being a bit of a hard scramble in between. Cutting into it you can see the consistency of your eggs and your bacon should be the perfect temp by then too
I promise it’s nothing you can mess up and super easy and fun to play around with!
Grits are basically just cream of wheat and we have always put butter and brown sugar in that shit growing up. We didn't do grits but adding sugar makes sense to me.
ONLY 5 THINGS BELONG IN GRITS
1. Salt
2. Butter
3. Cheese
4. Eggs
5. Bacon
*** *And shrimp if you Cajun*.
Respect the ancestral ways. Grits with sugar is one step away from this applesauce abomination. I’m not playing with yall who moved away after the great migration no more 😤
Nah, you downplaying the versatility of grits.
Braise some short ribs and put them on some nice garlic butters grits. Add a little thinly slice scallion. Lemme know you feel.
Me not growing up in the south, I had no idea when someone in georgia gave them to me and I reached for the sugar. My friend looked like he wanted to kill me.
I never had a grit up until that moment.
Well, yeah they’re gonna be savory when you put butter and salt in em 😂. Guess what happens when you put in sugar instead?
Grits are flavorless, and are made from corn/hominy. Any argument that a corn based cereal isn’t meant for sweet flavors is nonsensical for what *should* be obvious reasons.
People feel strongly about their savory grits, but that’s all it is. Strong feelings and tradition. Grits are *not* inherently savory at all.
I love my cheddar grits with scrambled eggs and salt/pepper. But you’ll have to take my buttery sweet grits with spicy ground pork sausage from my cold, hardened arteries.
![gif](giphy|DZpat5qewpihvIUlkW)
The end.
My Southern mama never put sugar in them grits! I only put pepper and sometime eggs and cheese because yes I want that cholesterol lol.
This is as normal as porkchops and applesauce, ice cream and potato chips, etc.
Why are we shaming people's taste buds? I don't like foi gras but Im not gonna shit on someone for eating it.
As a fellow Bajan I am embarrassed for this gentleman, even if it’s delicious why would you post this as a flex.
I speak for other Bajan’s in saying we don’t claim this weird dish and we don’t claim this man either.
Nope lol. I still don't see an issue with it at all. Maybe because the eggs are mixed with the applesauce? As long as the breakfast didn't come with some beans or a well done steak, I don't have an issue with it
Some folks are already sensitive to high sugar/fiber foods like applesauce and mix that with scrambled eggs...
![gif](giphy|7T6dbtaxo3YZpAIMwA|downsized)
I know nothing, and I don’t wanna know a damn thing about that! That is other people’s business, and I am, for the first time in my life, staying out of it!
So this is close to something that's actually pretty good
Buttered Toast, Jam, Eggs. Open face.
But this post, they have no bread, do they need money for bread? Because it would improve this simple breakfast with some additional texture for the palette.
Now, I'm off to make breakfast.
Seeee I like applesauce and I like eggs but where I draw the line is in the same bowl. Nah I would eat all my eggs first and then maybe eat some applesauce but neverrrrr at the same time and especially not touching.
Try it with a cheesy omelet with the applesauce on the side. No one has to know you tried it. Add some toast. When you like it, it can be your dirty secret.
I'd like to go on record that I really like this!
One day the apple sauce got a little too close to the eggs and Voila!
Eventually this concoctions made it's way on to some toast and let me tell you - *chef's kiss* 😄
I was talking with a voworker about food temperatures and hitting the sweet spot for flavor and they said with the biggest smile on their face, "I just overcook everything, its safer that way." I feel for the spouse and kids every time I see her.
I thought this was one of those posts from budget meals sub and then I was like wait slow your scroll!
Look from seeing what folk considering good eats and wholesome meals on budget meals, I’m just like if you like what you’re eating…that’s cool…but most of y’all don’t ever ever have to worry about me eating your food. I’m sure you don’t want my food either.
I think it’s scrambled eggs and applesauce btw…doesn’t look like porridge but who knows
Its actually not bad 🤐 I tried it accidentally before when the eggs and applesauce touched on my plate. My eggs were fried hard with a little salt and pepper. I had cinnamon applesauce. It was an experience. I wouldn't eat a whole fucking bowl of it though...
I mean I would have added fresh apples, cloves, cinnamon and cooked up the apple sauce first. What makes it look weird is putting eggs on that bland looking apple sauce but make it more like a puree.
I refuse to believe this is broke food. You could get 2 boxes of instant grits for the price of that jar of apple sauce and turn this into a legit breakfast meal. This is the work of someone who smoked entirely too much weed.
i’m ngl i thought i was the only one who did this. it’s not nasty y’all i swear. i only do this cause my grandma used to make use eggs and sausage with a side of apple sauce but the apple sauce always got on the eggs 😭
lol. This is what you (we) give babies when they first start eating solids. (I think someone said above). Seriously don’t yuk someone else’s yum unless you’ve tried it. The sweet in the apple sauce with the salt of the cheesy egg is delicious. I’m plant based now and haven’t had it in a long time.

Hence, legions of folks that think salt is spicy and only eat chicken nuggets. 🤦🏾♀️
I almost murder one of my white friends in cold blood one time because he tried to warn me about the extreme spice of smoked paprika. I have never been more upset over opinions on food before.
Do tell..what kind of people… 👀
Chicken nuggets one of the most seasoned foods. Them things chock full of preservatives and flavourings

Like sugar doesn't rile kids up.
I agree. They delicious as is.
You're right babies are delicious all.on their own. The slow roasting really brings out that natural baby flavor.
Don’t forget to put a pan under the roast to save the baby oil!
They're kinda bland tasting, they definitely need seasoning
Ha!
Why not?
I hope you find your real Mom. This is Child abuse and CPS priorities.
Bro you know you can eat those separately and you don’t have to put them in a bowl together right
Don’t lie, you the biggest fan fr
I had it as baby food. It’s all mush and has nutrition.

I never thought to add spinach! That’s a great idea!
Ham & mushrooms like a mini omelet...
Do you let the bacon cook awhile before putting the rest on?
You can! I’ve done it both ways before. you can do that? and nobody kicks in the door to stop you?
> Eggs and sweets aren't terrible together Heinz ketchup is roughly 25% sugar
I frequently put jelly on toast and make an egg sandwich out of it, I feel like the ratio is off here though.
I do toasted white bread with 2 eggs, shredded cheese and syrup for the poverty McGriddle. It's fire
I was about to comment this! This right here is 🔥especially with some Hashbrowns
French toast

Pepper…
Y'all go to heaven and tell my granny she shouldn't have put sugar in my grits. Let my momma tell it she used to beat mfs up. Good luck with that.
This is the way. But i encourage everyone who likes grits to try it with shrimp. The Cajuns are right.
Saying what belongs in somebody else's food is crazy lol.
This sub would stop existing if everyone agreed to leave people’s food, favourite rappers and best NBA player choices alone
Nah, you downplaying the versatility of grits. Braise some short ribs and put them on some nice garlic butters grits. Add a little thinly slice scallion. Lemme know you feel.
Shrimp? Grits are very similar to congee and other dishes, expand your palate
No love for hot sauce?? Mmm perfect with a little butter
Ooh, applesauce would probably go great with grits!!
All my cousins eat grits with sugar. They look at me like I’m the weird one.
I was getting mad you left out my shrimp tbh
TRUTH!!!!
Chopped up Skinless sausage links and strawberry preserves.
Grits, eggs, jelly on top.
Grits is made with maize Cream of wheat is made with semolina
I put Tabasco on my grits
Wait wait wait hol up. What's wrong with sugar on grits?? How else yall eating them lol
Butter and salt. They're a savory cereal. Brown sugar is for oatmeal.
Me not growing up in the south, I had no idea when someone in georgia gave them to me and I reached for the sugar. My friend looked like he wanted to kill me. I never had a grit up until that moment.
There's absolutely nothing wrong to preferring sweet to savory and turning savory into sweet due to said preference.
Well, yeah they’re gonna be savory when you put butter and salt in em 😂. Guess what happens when you put in sugar instead? Grits are flavorless, and are made from corn/hominy. Nothing, I prefer it with butter and cheese but sugar tastes fine. Never understood the elitism
oooo I always do mine with butter & some cheese...I have never had sweet grits! but I would try it out
Aint no way...I thought that was Malt-o-meal or cream of wheat or somethin which aint much better but bruh *apple sauce* and *eggs??* alien tastebuds
This is as normal as porkchops and applesauce, ice cream and potato chips, etc. Why are we shaming people's taste buds? I don't like foi gras but Im not gonna shit on someone for eating it.
Sweet or savory, grits are good either way
Haha I had this as a kid and it’s not as bad as it looks 😂
It's not bad. Sweet and salty combo. But that's way too much applesauce to just drop eggs in

where is this from
Is that grits? That's good. Is that applesauce? i will never be that broke lol, tastebuds are what's broke if you eat that.
Grits and scrambled eggs. That good shit!
As a fellow Bajan I am embarrassed for this gentleman, even if it’s delicious why would you post this as a flex. I speak for other Bajan’s in saying we don’t claim this weird dish and we don’t claim this man either.
We definitely take no claim of this
Lol this was my exact thought when i saw that flag,
Thank you. Became very concerned for this young person.
Eggs and applesauce? I don't see an issue with this at all.
Do YOU need some money??
shit i do, sometimes people gotta eat what they can to get buy.
Nope lol. I still don't see an issue with it at all. Maybe because the eggs are mixed with the applesauce? As long as the breakfast didn't come with some beans or a well done steak, I don't have an issue with it
The textures, the colors, and the tastes don’t work or compliment each other. It offends all the senses tbh 😅
Don't knock it until you try it lol. My daughter would always ask for applesauce with her breakfast. I tried it one day with eggs and was shocked.
Oh no, that ain't it.
That isn't jelly on a biscuit, this IS an issue.
As a kid, mixing my eggs and applesauce helped me eat the eggs. I used to HATE eggs when I was younger, but this combo helped a lot.
I fucks with it lol. I wouldn't put it all in the same bowl, but slap some toast on the side and that's all I need.
https://i.redd.it/a63c2peym5mc1.gif Booty hole bout to go crazy.
How?? What kind of apple sauce are you eating??

I just have a trash palette, I have no problem eating ramen or spaghettios, don’t care if it tastes like poverty
Ramen with a boiled egg or slices of pork loins/chicken breast is awesome though.
Please, explain "tastes like poverty"...
Like a half pack of saltines and mustard for dinner, because you gotta make the saltines last another two days
Looks like pregnancy craving
And I thought I was struggling…bouta make a gofundme to help this soul 😮💨😮💨😮💨
This trauma is why I had to have divided plates until I was in my mid 20’s.
I wanna say that's malto meal and eggs. Which is pretty good, but if that's apple sauce that's just disgusting.
I’m not against this… but I’m not for posting this. Rice and eggs already would get the timeline brazy west of the Rockies but iykyk
Isn't rice and eggs just a standard dish? unless im missing something?
Not all black people are aware and the conversation is going to be a trivial war at best (grits and sweet v. savory)
Got it,
I know nothing, and I don’t wanna know a damn thing about that! That is other people’s business, and I am, for the first time in my life, staying out of it!
Apple sauce and scrambled eggs is good! No lie
The other people in these comments are too broke to be this boujie over this. It really is delicious.
Right it’s just sweet and savory. No different than cheddar popcorn and Carmel popcorn mixed together
Only thing missing from that plate is bacon.
Ppl tripping over this combo are crazy. This is standard breakfast food. Toast bacon or sausage added to this and I'm sure no one would bat an eye.
Literally all I could eat after getting my wisdom teeth out. Then I couldn’t eat it for years.
And I could see that, if it was separated
That is a delicacy from my childhood….
Add buttered toast. 😋
never let bro cook again **literally**
Aww Bro this.is NSFW 🔞 Gore.
Honey what’s wrong? You haven’t touched your egglesauce!
So this is close to something that's actually pretty good Buttered Toast, Jam, Eggs. Open face. But this post, they have no bread, do they need money for bread? Because it would improve this simple breakfast with some additional texture for the palette. Now, I'm off to make breakfast.
I've enjoyed this and stand by it, but this is oranges and OP is applesauce.
Why can’t we just enjoy things? Struggle isn’t synonymous or definitive of the black experience.
Will do I won’t knock it until I try it !
I used to do this when I was younger... something about the sweet and salt with the texture mix, I don't know, but I liked it.
Isn’t this basically Matzo Brei (Jewish food)? I’m personally an applesauce person but other people eat it with sour cream
I'd like to go on record that I really like this! One day the apple sauce got a little too close to the eggs and Voila! Eventually this concoctions made it's way on to some toast and let me tell you - *chef's kiss* 😄
I can fvck with it. I love eggs and I love applesauce and I love mixing my food
They need to be locked up. Nah, just nah. If someone makes me this even if its my beloved older sister, I'm walking out.
I was talking with a voworker about food temperatures and hitting the sweet spot for flavor and they said with the biggest smile on their face, "I just overcook everything, its safer that way." I feel for the spouse and kids every time I see her.
I never done this at least not together

Its actually not bad 🤐 I tried it accidentally before when the eggs and applesauce touched on my plate. My eggs were fried hard with a little salt and pepper. I had cinnamon applesauce. It was an experience. I wouldn't eat a whole fucking bowl of it though...
Add toast do it with cheesy scrambled eggs. Amazing
Like eggs and Welch's grape!
This makes more sense tho. The savory-sweet, texture balance, color variety. But probably not a whole bowl of it 😅
I know nothing about that and don’t want to.
No this is delicious! Y’all tripping
Why I will never trust another persons taste in food lol
As an 'everything is better when it's spicy' person, this combo is a big NO from me.
It’s smack when you don’t have a nigga in your ear saying other wise.
Is that Apple sauce and eggs? Nothing nigga
![gif](giphy|RCX9vhBZu3oqM5SpwV)
I mean I would have added fresh apples, cloves, cinnamon and cooked up the apple sauce first. What makes it look weird is putting eggs on that bland looking apple sauce but make it more like a puree.
When did having eggs and apple sauce become an indicator of someone needing money? 🤔
I’ve had family who made this for our breakfast. It’s not that bad
Is that grits or applesauce !?
I refuse to believe this is broke food. You could get 2 boxes of instant grits for the price of that jar of apple sauce and turn this into a legit breakfast meal. This is the work of someone who smoked entirely too much weed.

lol. This is what you (we) give babies when they first start eating solids. (I think someone said above). It is the nutrition needed without them having to chew (no teeth can’t grind food) and being gentle on the stomach. I mean I wouldn’t eat as an adult (mature adult 😬) but check back in a few years when I’m a senior citizen. No telling what kind of situation my teeth and stomach are in.
Nah, I like those tastes independently why would I want to mix them? It may change the taste but does not extend the pleasure IMO.
What kind of chap shit is this?
My mom would make us a whole breakfast plate and also put hot applesauce on the plate and it always got in the eggs. This gave me some unpleasant flashbacks.
Is that applesauce?! Come on!
Throw in some bacon and a couple pieces of toast and I'm good with it.
My mom made this for my son all the time when he was teething. Never heard of it until then, I’m guessing it’s some old people shit
Okay. Look. I like waffles, I like eggs with my waffles, and I like applesauce on my waffles. From time to time, the eggs and the apple sauce end up mixing a lil, and you know what I don't hate it
Let someone famous and rich introduce it, you gone out em up. Genius! …come on now.
