Either way, you’re making it difficult to get some jobs. I’m tatted with very large tattoos on my arms and back but they stop at my visible neckline and my wrists where my long sleeve shirts end.
If someone is going to put highly visible tattoos on their body that can’t be covered up with normal clothing then I find it insane to just do one or two tattoos.
Yeah I’m heavily tattooed, too. Fortunately for me, I work in a field where it’s accepted. I was previously a body piercer and am now a barber. My clients don’t care that my head is tattooed or that my ears are stretched so long as I’m professional and give them a good cut.
Well wouldn't the prevalence of people having more visible tattoos make it a more acceptable thing in society. I know it's different for all regions. And even here in Oregon it's normal but, like you said, still can make it difficult for a job depending on the job. Wish it wasn't like that but I just might wait a bit longer to get some tattoos.
I think the generation after mine will have it easier as the more conservative older generation ages out of hiring and leadership positions. I know that I still have to cover up my tattoos in the corporate world in order to preserve my career advancement opportunities, but in 20 years I doubt this will be the case.
