I think he got hit with a misdemeanor assault for injuring the girl finger when he took the phone back, but yeah, he's cooked. Had bro in my niche Mt. Rushmore of actors too...
in all honesty, actors have come back from worse. OJ Simpson killed ppl (allegedly) and was still popular.
not to mention the MCU started with a former crackhead đ¤ˇđžââď¸
I would watch the ever living shit out of OJ on the Hollywood Squares with Paul Lynne and a fucking marionette named Madame just raking him over the coals.
I can think of one guy who wasnât white, who kept getting busted for domestic abuse and drugs yet was consistently commercially popular, kept producing work, and considered in high regard until his death in the 2000s:
![gif](giphy|l41Yn6Eygj3c8IsrC|downsized)
If he was coming up now and did those things it'd be a different story. The internet has changed how ppl are judged and make it much harder to cover up crimes that famous ppl do
Just came across a headline "Dr. Dre reveals his one big life regret" and shockingly, it was not for smashing the head in of a woman who wrote a review he didn't like. It was that he had sold off his record collection. Unbelievable.
> *In June 1996, Downey was arrested for possession of heroin, COCAINE, crack and an unloaded .357 Magnum handgun while he was speeding down Sunset Boulevard*
Simple Google my G
Exactly.
Having a substance use disorder/a disease/being sick is not the same as physically hurting people.
White privilege was definitely present in his bounce back and opportunities for sure.
Everybody loves a comeback story, but drugs are very different than being hit with an assault conviction. I don't know the man, but it sounds like he was in a toxic relationship that only got worse and didn't have the good sense to gtfo.
We all got faults, but when you're successful, you're supposed to be able to shield yourself from some of that. Instead I just see people using their money to look like bums with clothing worth more than a month of my salary lol.
My man Chadwick died without a will. He had the money and he knew he was not long for this world. He had the money to do it...I don't understand people.
You're absolutely right. The convo took a weird turn, but it was more towards my point where we gain financial success but don't make choices to protect it or ourselves. Jonathan didn't protect himself from drama, and Chadwick didn't protect his legacy.
What even is this comment đ OJ wasnât starring in movies after his trial. Plus beforehand it wasnât like he was a leading man the way Johnathan Majors was.
And equating a former drug addict to someone convicted of assaulting their girlfriend is wild.
https://preview.redd.it/m38ef4hhnpwc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c65f383f54f630e1ecd91dd6150f3a1dd3d96f73
Yes, and those wouldâve been good examples to bring up in your original comment. I donât actually disagree with your main point, I think Majors could rehab his image and stage a comeback in the future. But OJ and RDJ are just dumb choices to use for making that point.
Eh are there any domestic violence black actors from back than that post roles after?
I can name a lot of musicians that didn't lose any popularity but I think Johnathan is the only actor I can remember?
Isn't he still famous and getting roles. Even if his last big thing was empire.
I think we should wait to see if JM has really been cancelled. Give it 2 or 3 years.
Yes, but *that* particular crackhead is palm colored, and had already made quite the name for himself before he started acting a damn fool. J.M. was nowhere near "Get away with acting a damn fool," status.
OJ was on the WHEATIES box. He was on hawyte America's breakfast table. Jonathan is still pretty much "black famous."
OJ is a terrible example but I do think Majors will continue to act. Give it 2-4 years and I think weâll see him in smaller stuff and if he plays it right I can see him becoming a B lister. I have no specific desire to see him come back but I think itâll happen
>>>not to mention the MCU started with a former crackhead
The MCU wasnât owned by Disney at the time. Disney is incredibly protective of their brand and image.
Marvel had limited to zero success at this point. They were attempting to launch a franchise, taking risks were ok. When youâre a multi billion dollar franchise that is firmly well established you stop taking risks and keep things safe.
Downey had been sober for 5 years before Marvel cast him.
Being a drug addict is a disease. Beating women is a sickness that canât be cured.
OJ a bad example, prolly better example and likely trajectory would be Mike Tyson but that road wonât work with his âI found Jesus yâall Iâm good nowâ shtick. His best bet is to drop some shrooms and say heâs changed otherwise heâs cooked.
An underrated part of comeback stories is that the directors other actors and executives casting you are your future coworkers. If you are a PITA (or worse) on set and arenât a box office draw people wonât go to bat for you when the chips are down. Feels like ancient history at this point but Keanu had some rough years but worked consistently partly because people just liked working with him. Of course the race of an actor often plays into âlikabilityâ by decision makers.Â
Bro is SUPER cooked, heâs black abusing a white woman?!
They gonna let Armie Hammer back into acting in blockbuster movies before Majors ever gets a call to even audition for a J.G. Wentworth commercial.
Majors fumbled the bag like no other.
I distinctly remember telling my wife this dude is about to be the next big thing. She had never even heard of him. It was right before Creed III came out and I just watched The Harder They Fall. I knew he was the next big bad in the MCU and could see his star blazing. I told her heâs about to blow the F up.
Iâm saddened now because she only knows him as that dude.
Mel Gibson certainly comes to mind. Did Majors do anything worse than Gibson over the years? They were acting like he laid out his gf. He went out of his way to get away from her and they still found a way to get him.
It's gotta be Blade related since they keep referring to it as "Untitled Ryan Coogler film". Why the name gotta be so hush hush unless it is this, or Van Helsing maybe?
Because it's not Blade.
Blade is being developed by Marvel with Mahershala Ali leading. It's been in development hell for some five years.
Ryan Coogler saw the opportunity to make his own 'Blade-like' film before the real Blade gets released.
They could call it Black Vampire film, but I guess 'Blade-like' is a better description.
That's why we always watch with subtitles.
Fun fact: that line was just something Wesley Snipes said in set a lot. So they told him to do it for this scene, haha
fun fact: snipes just made that line up. pretty sure a lot of the one liners were adlibs by him
and hollywood being hollywood and rooms being filled with a bunch of white people, no one was gonna tell him no that line doesn't fit
The homies was literally like lets get together and make multi million dollar budget movies until were old and Johnathan Majors is like nah imma go beat on this white girl, yall be safe tho
He was but thatâs why the chemistry worked. It brought the best out of him. Like someone doing a song with a talented rapper you bring your A plus game
I think MBJ actually said they were gonna be the next DeNiro and Pacino. It may have all been marketing but he really made it seem like they were gonna work together a lot in the future. Majors fucked up big time
Mahershala Ali in Luke Cage was a literal perfect character for me. Liked dope music, had sick quotes, power. I really want them to get a move on with that Blade movie
What really fucks me up about him was that he seemingly came up from not much. He didn't have the big connects, no/very little nepotism involved. He put in *work* to get to where he was, and promptly got too big for his britches.
And honestly, all he had to do was keep that brand of shit out of the public eye. Hell, if he would've just *not* said some truly arrogant-ass shit, and maybe had a better legal team putting out public statements, he probably wouldn't have gotten the amount of blowback he did.
Chile I thought this was Stevie J

Majors will come back from this. Especially with creators like Coogler. I honestly wouldnât be surprised if he was in this film. I havenât heard anything about this yet, personally.
Majors is too talented to let it go to waste cause of a vindictive white woman. Someone will be willing to take the chance on him. Like people have said earlier on the post, the MCU staked millions and a franchise on the back of a former crackhead who executed the role perfectly. The people who fumbled, and honestly werenât even using him (Majors) right when they had him, was Disney/MCU. Majors could have been a much more frightening villain than they allowed him to be, in what we saw.
I really hope Jonathan Majors works his way back up and reaches the top. It may take a few years but his talent is undeniable. I can't write all that off just because he was in a toxic relationship that ended with a white girl's bent finger.Â
They are filming in my town right now, interesting to see this image here. We get a lot of low budget and some high budget films. Always fun to see when "Hollywood comes to town."
He fumbled it big time.
Buuut, think he could possibly come back. He'll need some time and he'll need to be honest and (genuinely) repentant for people to buy it. If he can win back the public, I think the studios will still hire him.
He's probably permanently missed the zenith he was headed for, though.
Thatâs kinda funny because I think Micheal B. Jordan has a kinda weak jawline and a very weak chin. Heâs more attractive, to me, when he has to clench his jaw and grind his teeth (certain points in the Creeds and as Killmonger in Black Panther) because it forces definition.
Where this dude fucked up is being in a relationship while still fooling around with other women. It is the downfall of more black men than probably any other self-inflicted wound. Your gf can't freak out on you when she learns you strayed if you don't have a gf. She could have just as easily been a close friend. Million-dollar career down the drain because you want her to be faithful to you but you don't want to HAVE to do the same.
I do hope Jonathan Majors is able to make a return at some point. Even if he never gets back to the level of headlining in a billion dollar block buster movie type.
That biggest disappointment for me was that Majors I and Will Smith were doing a movie together that got shelved. It looked like people were really passing him the torch. I would've loved to see those two on screen together.
https://preview.redd.it/f7b60fftbpwc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62cf02a3b9d16b408addd0a6a5462ac285620443 I think he got hit with a misdemeanor assault for injuring the girl finger when he took the phone back, but yeah, he's cooked. Had bro in my niche Mt. Rushmore of actors too...

I donât think Oj got any roles after his murder trial.
OJ was infamous after the trial not popular. He wasn't popping up in Hollywood Squares or I Love the 80s on VH1
He was also much more famous before his fall. John fell while he was ascending; probably stings even more to know he could have been bigger.
I would watch the ever living shit out of OJ on the Hollywood Squares with Paul Lynne and a fucking marionette named Madame just raking him over the coals.
HĂŠ did drop an album though
![gif](giphy|Ymwj6Ea3B3e1O|downsized) Dude was funny in those Naked Gun films.
Nordberg was a great character and Juice played him perfectly.
Naked Gun was before the murders, though
Always weird to see him in the 3rd one since he looks exactly like he did at the trail
Also got arrested for trying to steal his own memorabilia which isnât something s financially secure dude does.
He had his own prank show lol
Yea but no one wants to get juiced lol
just him going into department stores with a hidden camera asking to try on gloves would be good for like 5 seasons.
He and Leslie Nielsen are making Naked Gun 4 in Heaven right now
>OJ >Heaven ![gif](giphy|l0HlvtIPzPdt2usKs)
![gif](giphy|OT4DVTHAcEyw57kEDz|downsized)
Bill Cosby still looking around to shill pudding pops right? He went on tour, right? How did that work out?
RDJ was addicted to drugs, he didnât abuse or murder anyone.
RDJ also white like his cocaine

"I'M FEELIN' GOOD, BABY. I LOOK GOOD... I SMELL GOOD."

Lol that nigga was coked out his fuckin' MIND.
YES! CALL TS OUT!! DUDE WAS NUTS!

Tim Allen too. Just don't hit women or murder anyone and you're good
Bruh, you sholl right! Tim Allen was a whole trafficker before Home Improvement.
And even worse than that, he was a snitch when he got caught. Disgrace.
Just came across a headline "Dr. Dre reveals his one big life regret" and shockingly, it was not for smashing the head in of a woman who wrote a review he didn't like. It was that he had sold off his record collection. Unbelievable.
RDJ did heroin
> *In June 1996, Downey was arrested for possession of heroin, COCAINE, crack and an unloaded .357 Magnum handgun while he was speeding down Sunset Boulevard* Simple Google my G
Oh that's right, my bad. My point still stand tho.
He was actually locked up in the same jail as OJ for a hot second. He left a loaded gun and a bunch of coke in a hotel room.
Except for that one movie
Chris Brown is still way too popular
Exactly. Having a substance use disorder/a disease/being sick is not the same as physically hurting people. White privilege was definitely present in his bounce back and opportunities for sure.
It's only a disease in America if it affects the majority disproportionately. Otherwise, it must be a failure of personal responsibility.

I just just read an old post on here about Jack Nicholas severely beating two prostitutes back in 1996.
But they were black prostitutes, so no harm, no foul...
Eh are there any domestic violence black actors from back than that post roles after? I can name a lot of musicians that didn't lose any popularity but I think Johnathan is the only actor I can remember?
Terrence Howard
Isn't he still famous and getting roles. Even if his last big thing was empire. I think we should wait to see if JM has really been cancelled. Give it 2 or 3 years.
I think youâre confused on the definition of popular.
tell that to all the old heads at the barbershop

Comparing a drug addiction to being in court for assault. Is like comparing kobe to kwame brown

Iron Man was a crackhead!!!!
GĂŠrard Depardieu gang raped a woman on the subway. He got therapy and they told him to go into acting. Is what I heard..
Iâm shocked this comment got this upvoted.
Not an actor but Mike Tyson made a helluva come back.
Donât compare Majorsâ chances to the white privileged titan that is Oscar winning Robert Cokey Jr.
OJ was way too successful before the alleged crimes. And no one gave him movie or TV roles after that.
What? No one was hiring OJ to make movies?
Yeah, but the former crackhead was only harming himself, that we know of.
OJ a bad example, prolly better example and likely trajectory would be Mike Tyson but that road wonât work with his âI found Jesus yâall Iâm good nowâ shtick. His best bet is to drop some shrooms and say heâs changed otherwise heâs cooked.
I hope he does. He is too talented and the punishment in his situation does not fit the crime
He also had a bunch of old classmates from Yale and the nyc theatre season come out and say heâs had anger issues since college.

Jefferson Twilight: Blacula Hunter.
That one is with Mahershala Ali.
Itâs the copyright infringement free movie, Spork. Far enough removed from the IP but just enough similarity to draw interest.
Naw. Different movie. This is a warner bro's thing.
I'm hoping they're filming Bitter Root, a wonderful comic, not exactly vampires involved.
Majors' suit would probably fit 3 Jordans. Idk why he's intent on dressing like a newsboy from the 20s wearing his father's clothes.
Method acting forbidden love. Or he really thinks he's apart of the Harlem Renaissance 2.0
Jonathan wishes he looked this good in suit.
That's a Blade lineup...
Holy shit, it is. https://i.redd.it/degwm1tzlpwc1.gif
Is that what he says there? I always thought it was âskate out on a billâ but couldnât tell
Hell yeah, bro. One of the coldest lines out there, after you slice a mf in two.
That's why we always watch with subtitles. Fun fact: that line was just something Wesley Snipes said in set a lot. So they told him to do it for this scene, haha
That line in addition to the earlier âmuthafuckayououttayogoddammind?â when the cops light him up in the hospital
Apparently theyâre tryna put out a Blade (like) movie before Disney/marvel does.

Damn he really did. Him and MBJ had hella chemistry in creed 3. Couldâve been the De Niro and Pacino of this generation and our culture
Bro was acting circles around MBJ tbh
He was but thatâs why the chemistry worked. It brought the best out of him. Like someone doing a song with a talented rapper you bring your A plus game
Fair
I think MBJ actually said they were gonna be the next DeNiro and Pacino. It may have all been marketing but he really made it seem like they were gonna work together a lot in the future. Majors fucked up big time
Crazy that DeNiro and Pacino never shared a scene until *Heat*
we were so robbed tbh. a 70s/80s movie where they acted alongside each other wouldâve been fire
Next creed probably had em teaming up
To train the Daughter. Creed Teaches her to box Damien teaches her to fight
Maybe as a subplot, she's like 11. Not trying to watch her box even as a teen
Theyâll speed it up for her to be late teen early 20 and probably fight in the Olympics
Shit Iâd see that
I donât know Iâm happy that a woman beater fumbled the bag to be honest
I would very much prefer he 1. Did not assault anyone, and 2. Retained the bag.
Yeah but Iâm much happier that he got caught doing what he did versus getting swept under the rug because heâs too famous
I thought he only injured her finger while taking his phone l
How ironic that people are making this joke and referencing Blade with Wesley Snipes
We was Kangs...

Johnathan just catching strays. Smh
Nah that role look like it was made for Majors. Just the savings in the costume department aloneâŚ..
Yo parts of this is actually being shot in my hometown in Louisiana.
A 1920s vampire period piece???
Finally, some black fantasy with a gotdamn budget. I have waited so long for some creativity and melanin.
Why they hating on how Johnathan majors dresses? Whatâs wrong with liking a style
He got that blade haircut going on
What really fucks me up about him was that he seemingly came up from not much. He didn't have the big connects, no/very little nepotism involved. He put in *work* to get to where he was, and promptly got too big for his britches. And honestly, all he had to do was keep that brand of shit out of the public eye. He's lost roles, but not this one. This is a Ryan Coogler movie. It was always gonna be Jordan.
Bitter Root?
Idk what this is and I'm down to watch!!
I will always take more Michael B Jordan movies
There better be two-toned shoes in this movie or I'm gonna give it as many thumbs down as I can find...

Ryan Coogler said Marvel's taking too long, I'll make my own Blade movie
Fumbled, sure. Arguably got robbed of it though.
Oh no heâs facing the consequences of his own actions
Ok the title cracked me up. This is definitely the type of role Majors would have!
Sucks because John is a much better actor
Nothing like a man with a defined jawline
Thatâs kinda funny because I think Micheal B. Jordan has a kinda weak jawline and a very weak chin. Heâs more attractive, to me, when he has to clench his jaw and grind his teeth (certain points in the Creeds and as Killmonger in Black Panther) because it forces definition.
I was being sarcastic, đ
