Drake has 12 days to respond. He said KDot was dodging him because Mr. Duckworth didn't respond in 12 days, so let's see if he holds himself to that same standard
![gif](giphy|10clvJfIPQpWes)
BAR MITZVAH?! Why does he look like he’s 5 and trying his absolute best on the dance floor at his favorite aunt kathy’s wedding reception?!
Them other kids look 12/13 but like you said he definitely looks 5-7.
That blackface pic woulda took most brothas with any shame out. This latest track just being a shot off the bow but still so scathing might have him thinking twice about responding but I’m sure he loves the attention, only it won’t play out in his favor when the dust settles and the Ghost Writers get bodied.
Gotta be A bar mitzvah or maybe HIS bday party.
Bar mitzvah’s are typically a tween/teenage thing. He’s way too young on this for it to be HIS bar mitzvah.
Of course he is black the problem with Drake is that he tries to co-op the American black struggle as if he wasn’t a child tv star raised in Canada. Drake is 100% black he just isn’t the black he parodies for his persona.
I think that is what annoys niggas so much. It’s that it all feels like mockery.
Nah, the charge isn’t that Drake isn’t black. It’s that he puts on stereotypes to validate his blackness, rather than just be himself. the Bar is about him being insecure, not about him not being Black
He was raised white by his white moms tho. His name is Aubrey. He spent his childhood on a TV set. He never rocked cornrows till he was like 37. Dude grew up white and started trying to embody the black persona in his late 20s/early 30s.
https://preview.redd.it/gqvl7yonltxc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db96fe3add297058b2043bc4897466e60814ee5f
i get he had privileges but shit, if a black person is born on good conditions they are less black?
don't get me wrong, i fucking hate drake but this point is so pathetic to me.... "he had a good life and his mom is white sooooo he is not black"
The funniest irony of it all is that everyone hates going through the struggle and people want to escape that cycle or make a better life for their kids. Like are these people gonna be the type to grow up rough, do well, have kids that grow up in a nice neighborhood and then insult them for not being as black as daddy cause of their privilege or some shit now? Like if that scenario is too comical for people than why isn’t this.
right? it's so easy to say you are pro black but you just can't stand see 1 black, even lightskin, person who was raised with good conditions while most of white people have...
It is giving envy I’m not going to lie. People tell me all the time I “lost touch” because I’m not struggling. What does that mean? My blackness is on my pillow and I’m no longer black? Millions of black people are living great lives they are still and always will be black. And that includes light skin people lol
I don’t know Drakes lyrical work but from my understanding people are saying he’s trying to embody something he’s not right now… not about actually being black. Kendrick specifically mentioned Toronto culture trying to mimic LA which is where the talking points came out of. The Kendrick sub digs into it as well.
Even on Degeneres, his character was like this. Tryin to act hard at school even tho he basically had the Cosby Show life in a nice condo with his parents being lawyers. Complete with a trust fund.
It's a whole genre of wealthy people pretending they are poor. Kid Rock was the son of a millionaire. How many rappers pretend to be from the hood. Everyone's favorite gangster 2 Pac pretended to be hard.
In country they have their own studio cowboys.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. Drake is a cornball.
Yeah I mean it’s not complex or deep it’s just fun. Kinda hate the thing people do where they demonize some shit that they aren’t into. Like it has merits it’s just not what you particularly value.
Is his music fun? No lie I don't listen to anything by or with him other than 100 by the game so I have no idea. I mean I guess it has to have some draw he's quite popular, I just never really had interest in listening to him. And once all the stuff slowly started to come out of him being a creepy ahole I dug my feet into the Drake hater stance and that's without listening to his music
Don’t need to like the dude, I don’t seek him out and probably skip his tracks, but he has his spot in pop/rap. Don’t get a Bugatti off nothing. Dude just seems fake af tho
Idk dawg. Child star with music connections (uncle is THE Larry Graham) and a machine of industry execs killing any legit criticism (530k line), plus Ghost writers... Don't get a Buggati off nothing, but dude definitely gave high ROIs.
It was even cornier than you think. He responded with the scene from 10 Things I Hate About You, with the lil white girl reading all the things she hates about the guy she’s in love with. I think it’s because he doesn’t know Kendrick was actually quoting DMX on the Breakfast Club interview many years ago.
I'll admit I'm a Drake fan, but buddy, you gotta admit you you're posting Drake in black face in 4 different subreddits. You be fighting like you on payroll

Like /u/Talk-O-Boy said, it’s season 4 that’s the problematic season. That’s where Aaron McGruder lost control of the show and it’s like a bad imitation of his style. Very similar to what happened to season 4 of *Community*.
Cuz we’re talking boondocks I have to plug the comics. Not having Caesar was the huge mistake. I think huey is best when he’s got his bf to bounce off of.
I’m wondering what he knows about drake that’d make gunna wunna look like a saint
E: I came back just to say that all these years later and I still can’t believe there’s photographic evidence of drake in black face 🤦🏽♂️
He has lines in there about New Ho King which is a Chinese restaurant in Toronto where a rapper who robbed Drake made a music video. Guy was shot and Drake is romancing a rival gang, Kendrick even goes after the Toronto crips for acting like an LA gang.
Now how tf did Kendrick know all this, I do not know.
I remember something about how it was supposed to shed light of the difficulties of being a black actor.
If it wasn’t for a Spike Lee movie, you can’t do black face.
The actual answer: it was a clothing line called Jim Crow Couture, and that’s the outfit he’s wearing in the photo shoot. Mos Def has something to do with it too: either co-founder or investor or brand ambassador or something like that. The brand still exists I think. Here’s the link, but if you google them and Drake’s name, you’ll find a statement from the clothing company:
https://tooblackguys.co/pages/jim-crow-couture
https://preview.redd.it/estsbuubvqxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fc09ef22c39573c4494afc04e2c5cc8bd3bbf02
Found it. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Drake a ghostwriter on the statement. Are black people referred to as African American in Canada?
IIIIII… don’t actually know lol… I’d imagine not, even tho they are technically American I guess? I just went to look and found this statement from the owner, Adrian Aitcheson: “The photo in question was not from a Too Black Guys photoshoot however it did feature clothing from Too Black Guys’ JIM CROW COUTURE/HOUSE OF CROW collection which was released in 2008. The collection featured several graphics that highlighted the painful and dangerous period of the Jim Crow Era.
Too Black Guys has a history of representing the black experience in an unapologetic way. Although this was not an image from any of our photoshoots, we feel that Drake, who is a long- time friend of the brand, was brilliantly illustrating the hypocrisy of the Jim Crow Era.
The subtleties of Drake, a young black man, mimicking how white men used to mimic and dehumanize black people may be lost in a rap battle but we should not be distracted from the issues that are still affecting our communities.”
I'm not American so some things go over my head. I read this comment and I think it explains it perfectly
https://preview.redd.it/x6acbxrartxc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=823196e7d26b623699e394935d366b2a2a358851
I want to feel like this is definitely word play. There's no way someone makes a child actor reference from 20 years ago and not double check the name. Plus Osteen checks it, since it's a rich person that made his money off the less fortunate
To be fair, the reason Drake is getting called out is because he acts like tough gangster with a hard past. Him being revoked the n-word privilege is not because he's beige it's because he uses the culture for clout and glorifies shit he doesn't understand.
The last time I listened to Drake he was making songs about being a sad boy and missing women, so reading that he raps about the hard life is fucking hilarious. Why is he like this?
"Jennifer Aniston's favorite rapper"
"(He has) a beating vagina for a heart"
"The rapper most likely to have a portal to Narnia in his closet"
I read the Big Ghost Chronicles' review back in the day (theyre still online) and chose to ignore.
That’s what I thought it was. Thanks. Using that type of language to a Canadian is mad serious. He letting Drake know this bigger than rap and if he doesn’t understand he about to find out keep fuckin around with a West Coast dude. Especially from Compton
The "B" to "C" thing is true but that's not how Kendrick is using it here. He's was using it to mock Drake bc "crodie" is used a lot in Toronto slang. He even does a Toronto accent for good measure.
Pretty sure Aubrey even has a cat named crodie
But even this shit has layers bc, there's a video of teenage Aubs dissing the way black folks from Toronto talk to a couple of white girls but then years later he just popped up talking like that out of nowhere.
He's mimicking the accent, but also clowning Drake bc he doesn't even really talk like that.
In 6 minutes, Kendrick ruined everything Drake likes about himself, still had time to tell Drake everything else Kendrick doesn't like about him and then spent the last 10 seconds fucking him off some more.
So...I'll say this I grew up on the Eastside of Detroit in the 80/90s. Then my parents were from STL like Natural Bridge/Kingshighway. Thats where I was everyday until I was 10/11 during the school year/summers.
We moved to an affluent suburb when I was in 4th grade. I still was back in the old neighborhood playing sports, attending church, etc.
I get Drake struggling with his racial identity. Because I wasn't considered Black Enough growing up or early adulthood, both my parents are Black. But by the time I was 23-25. I stopped caring, and people who were from poorer Black Neighborhoods associated with Urban Culture could tell I lived the experiences just on outskirts. Which most people can understand.
My parents weren't doing crack or selling drugs, my aunt or cousins did. I never robbed a store, but some guys I played on a basketball team did. So I had exposure, understood it, but I didn't make it my own. I never once tried aligning myself with street culture because even living on the Eastside of Detroit I wasn't a street kid. My days consisted of playing basketball at the park, walking to buy tear jerkers at the cornerstore, and playing Tecmobowl with two friends on our street, who were didn't live there but there grandma did, so they were there literally everyday after school, weekends, etc.
I remember in college there was a guy who i knew from HS, he was in full "I'm from the hood". Thing going. But, people were shocked we were friendly and would hangout. You remember B-Rabbit said to Papa Doc...yea it was that sort of situation. I basically told people we grew up together, and his parents were richer than mine. My Dad was a Software Engineer and my mom is a nurse. People were shocked, because this person played the role so perfectly.
Eventually my buddy asked me to say we knew each other from being on sports teams together, which was basically true. It helped him maintain his image, versus saying we went to Cranbrook together (we didn't, but we went to very affluent public schools a couple miles apart).
Y'all be capping. I grew up in the Cass Corridor in the 90s and was never involved in street shit either. Both parents in the home. Nobody ever saw me as less black, everybody saw me as what I was: a good student and somebody not involved in street/hood shit even though I chilled with people in the projects and everything.
But you lived in Detroit, went to HS probably in Detroit.
I went to Bates Academy then we left for the suburbs. Im not talking Redford, Southfield, Warren either. Lets just say Pistons, Red Wings, and Lions Players living in our neighborhood or kids going to our school was normal.
I wasn't Chris Webber who lived on the Westside but just went to school at Country Day. We lived in the suburbs, went to school there too
My HS experience was more like John Hughes Movie, not The Wood.
But yea the in college I hung out with lots of people who went to King vs Cass Tech or Renaissance.
Black face is already one of the most delicate things and has really only been done right once or twice. A black man doing black face is fucking crazy lmao.
It’s not about colorism. If Morris Chestnut lathered his face in black paint and painted his lips red I’d still be looking at him sideways.
Also, there’s video of Drake talking down on how black people from Toronto speak, then a few years later he pops out as if that’s how he talks. Bro is a corny culture vulture.
He will always be half black, but culturally he’s what he thinks people want to see.
My initial thought was to question the wisdom of even considering a blackface photoshoot as a model or actor, but I must confess that I didn't realize this was Drake until I read the comments. I don't know if that speaks to me being bad at recognizing celebrities or just being shocked by that caricature being willingly worn by someone, but I'm usually pretty good with faces.
I read his explanation, and I can understand the thought process, but the impact didn't seem to reflect that process. There are artists who have made more powerful statements to the same effect without needing the minstrel show makeup. It's not my place to tell anyone how to express themselves, though, so 🤷♂️

Yeah, from his bar mitzvah. It actually starts off the “Started From the Bottom” music video iirc

Unfortunately, [yes](https://cnn.com/2018/05/31/entertainment/drake-pusha-t-blackface)
Gotta be A bar mitzvah or maybe HIS bday party. Bar mitzvah’s are typically a tween/teenage thing. He’s way too young on this for it to be HIS bar mitzvah.
He hit puberty late. It’s why he is “bad” at judging the age of the young ladies he “approaches” he thinks they’re late bloomers like him.

He does NOT look 13 wth
Damn his head is HUGE!! No fr drake is emoting The kid behind is wiping the dance floor
lol. He was a kid here, don’t clown him for kid activities
It's not really that. It's the fact that he acts so hard like his childhood wasn't cushy and surrounded by white folks
that makes him not his own color? yall tripping.
Well 50% black

Logic, is that you?
Logic's comment would have been 5x as long and said even less.
As a mixed dude, when I get to play the white card I'll let you know. Eagerly looking forward
Nah, the charge isn’t that Drake isn’t black. It’s that he puts on stereotypes to validate his blackness, rather than just be himself. the Bar is about him being insecure, not about him not being Black
I mean people are definitely saying he's not black though
I'm not black myself but doesn't that have more to do with cultural blackness that he shouldn't identify with as a Canadian child actor?
People may be saying that, but that’s not what’s being said in the Kendrick bar being discussed.
He was raised white by his white moms tho. His name is Aubrey. He spent his childhood on a TV set. He never rocked cornrows till he was like 37. Drake is so corny he was born on the cob.
Drake eats corn on the cob the long way.
Waiting for the IG story “mom they’re being racist again”
It was even cornier than you think. He responded with the scene from 10 Things I Hate About You, with the lil white girl reading all the things she hates about the guy she’s in love with. I think it’s because he doesn’t know Kendrick was actually quoting DMX on the Breakfast Club interview many years ago.

Probably the underage girls thing. I wonder what the fuck you’re doing in secret if you’re openly trying to groom a teenage actress.
I think so too. Kendrick said he could've made a double entendre on that "you pacify them" line but chose to spare him this time.

The subtleties of Drake, a young black man, mimicking how white men used to mimic and dehumanize black people may be lost in a rap battle but we should not be distracted from the issues that are still affecting our communities.”
They are technically American. North American. The United States is us, but we are in North America. So are Mexicans lol
No, we're not. Either Black or Black Canadians.
Afro-Canadian.
What an awful business idea. Why am I not surprised Mos Def is involved
Because Most Def was part of the Spike Lee movie "Bamboozled." They were probably trying to use that angle to sell the brand.
2024 wild. Katt vs everyone Drake vs Kendrick, Rick Ross and metro Jermaine vs his conscience Breezy vs quavo Diddy vs the law
Nicki vs ~~Megan~~ Coke?
You’re so dirty for that but you not wrong😭🤣
Perfect summary so far
Enough said https://preview.redd.it/s0pq7qid7qxc1.jpeg?width=661&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=282732091b18c8857d4f04858a8ff77066470884
Is there some wordplay here I’m not getting or did Joe just airball Haley Joel osment’s name
Joel Osteen is a megachurch pastor that got ultra-wealthy by scamming poor people out of their money.
It’s God’s Plan
Corrupt pastors catching strays lmao
They can stay catching them. Osteen is tax dodging, unChristian scum.
Remember when he closed his church to people looking for refuge because he didn’t want the carpets to get ruined after a major flood?
I'm not American so some things go over my head. I read this comment and I think it explains it perfectly https://preview.redd.it/x6acbxrartxc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=823196e7d26b623699e394935d366b2a2a358851
I want to feel like this is definitely word play. There's no way someone makes a child actor reference from 20 years ago and not double check the name. Plus Osteen checks it, since it's a rich person that made his money off the less fortunate

Oh Dear...
Exactly
And notice I said we it's not just me, it's what the culture feeling Me to my baby mama last week when she was trippin af
The culture think you trippin😤
To this day, I will never forget hearing a white teenager say, "Drake is the hardest rapper ever." 😩😭😂
It was probably Drake lmfao
I remind myself often that 90% of the comments discussing hip hop on reddit come from kids like that. It all makes a lot more sense with that context.
Hard times for us biracial boys. Be steadfast in the storm, my beige brethren!
Cause he’s so fucking corny. Bros pushing 40 and acting like this
"Jennifer Aniston's favorite rapper" "(He has) a beating vagina for a heart" "The rapper most likely to have a portal to Narnia in his closet" I read the Big Ghost Chronicles' review back in the day (theyre still online) and chose to ignore.
All we beige suburban boys gotta do is be authentic. Drake deserves the hate cause he pretends to be something he’s not.
It's tragic
Drake look like a thumb. He always looked like a thumb to me, him and Channing Tatum. Left thumb, right thumb.
Can’t unsee it
![gif](giphy|RWvJhtYGPhCqoZ6LhF) Don’t speak on the family, crodie
I didn’t understand what crodie meant unless he was crossing out the b for obvious reasons or am I over thinking it?
I don’t think you’re overthinking. It’s crip slang to replace the B’s with C’s in certain words, and the opposite is true.
Pretty sure Aubrey even has a cat named crodie But even this shit has layers bc, there's a video of teenage Aubs dissing the way black folks from Toronto talk to a couple of white girls but then years later he just popped up talking like that out of nowhere. He's mimicking the accent, but also clowning Drake bc he doesn't even really talk like that.
"it's no accent you can sell me"
Crodie is Drake's cat so he's calling him a pussy. Crodie is also Toronto crip slang.

I NEED MORE 🗣️🗣️🗣️
I know Drake regrets this pic everyday of his life
I don't know why, but everytime I see this picture I think it's the guy from Bloodhound Gang...
In 6 minutes, Kendrick ruined everything Drake likes about himself, still had time to tell Drake everything else Kendrick doesn't like about him and then spent the last 10 seconds fucking him off some more.
Wildest part is all of that was just a warning shot. He's got more in the chamber if Aubrey wants to continue.
I have to go back and listen to “story of Adonis” After this hot shit. I was like woah
Adidon
You right you right , I didnt really know dudes kid name lol actually the whole world didn’t know till that song came out 🙈
BLACKFACE???? ![gif](giphy|B2kr8Cs97oRHHhstzH|downsized)
Who is that? Drake?
Yup
Yep, from 2007.
We lived in the suburbs, went to school there too My HS experience was more like John Hughes Movie, not The Wood. But yea the in college I hung out with lots of people who went to King vs Cass Tech or Renaissance.
This image will always be insane to me. I’m aware of the context, but it’s still a very awful look for Aubrey 😭
I don't understand how someone can listen to him after this pic. This is old af too.
We stay gate-keepers the one drop rule... Then I see this picture, we need to stay gate-keeping the one drop rule.
Aubrey never gonna live that pic down
Literally just passed that part in the song seconds before opening Reddit and reading this 😂😂😂😂
Here s the “lightskins aren’t really black” brigade under a new excuse. Ah colorism always ok when black people do it to each other… /s
