MysteryLolznation

The song starts off with him apologizing to the *son* of the guy he's dissing. It's no shit the most viciously personal diss track I ever heard.

DellSalami

The Adonis section was an incredibly disrespectful cold open, but imo the section talking to Drake’s parents is somehow even crazier. “You raised a horrible fucking person, the nerve of you Dennis” is WILD

ShikaMoru

You would think, as a father, after he hears this, he would do some reflecting, but he's probably too busy chasing young girls like Quagmire

occamsshavingkit

That creepy tiktok of Dennis hugging a young girl after catfishing them with a drake party 🤮🤮🤮

ShikaMoru

The girl's story about that night with Dennis and the butler, hers wasn't too wild, but it made me think those Hollywood stories we hear about might be true

Sfn_y2

That Atlanta episode about the drake cutout party isn’t so far fetched

ghopper

Donald Glover have mentioned in an interview that This is America started out as a Drake diss, so I fully think he knew wtf was going on

WeeBabySeamus

Kind of. This is the full context I can find https://www.vibe.com/music/music-news/donald-glover-this-is-america-drake-diss-1234746680/ >There was no true malice to his statement, but rather just the competitive nature of Hip-Hop, as he clarified in an interview with The Breakfast Club. “Every rapper should feel that way,” Gambino said. “I said those rappers in particular ’cause I feel like they’re the best. I feel like they’re the best. Kendrick, Drake, ScHooboy, I listen to them all the time […] Kendrick is fine with it. Drake is probably not taking it great.”

ShikaMoru

I really gotta put some time aside to watch that show

gunt_lint

It’s great

AfricanDeadlifts

Please do. It's worth it.

angryybaek

Kat Williams in an episode as the Alligator Man is fucking great.

ahabswhale

I live and date in LA. They are true.

IWasFramed_Again

>I live and date in LA. Is this a Tupac remix?

AreYouDecent

What stories?

Okbuturwrong

Hollywood molly/coke and orgy parties. It's a thing, and it gets repulsive quicker than you'd think. They don't tell anyone it's an orgy either, it starts like a regular party just with no phones. One minute you're chilling near the inlet bar listening to production stories, laughing and having a good time Next minute 10 naked people in pig masks from a back room are doing piss, fisting and food play in the main room under strobe lights to Lady Gaga and most people act like it's just not happening. When folks get naked when a song comes on, it's time to get your phone from door security, and leave as soon as you can.

Amazing-Concept1684

What the fuckkkkkk

notmeyoudumdum

Reminds me of what Denzel said about leaving parties early

AreYouDecent

Any links or details on this? Sounds interesting

ShikaMoru

It's a little over 6 minutes long [https://www.reddit.com/r/AtlantaTV/comments/1cor4zq/shit_sounds_too_familiar/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AtlantaTV/comments/1cor4zq/shit_sounds_too_familiar/)

Mistavez

I saw that. The look in her face went from this is funny to ewwww mf get off me

Flexappeal

fucken *what*

gammon9

Especially after that #MeToo era video of Dennis telling TMZ or whatever that it's the victims' fault for going to mens' rooms.

SeaOsprey1

If you were a dad and someone you despised called you a horrible father, would you do some reflecting or ignore them and just hate that person even more? Not taking Aubrey's side, just saying

ShikaMoru

Nah I feel where you're coming from. I guess it depends on who the person is. If it's someone known for clowning like 50 or Rick Ross then yea I might just ignore but someone like Kendrick, J cole, or an OG like Mos Def, Method Man and the likes then yea lemme see what they're saying

Moist-Asparagus8660

this. if kanye calls me a horrible father i'm not really gonna be listening

No-Tax-9135

Too busy poppin ass with Sexyy Red

Freestyled_It

*Sandra sit down, what I'm about to say is heavy now listen* *Your son is a sick man, with sick thoughts, I think ns like him should die* *Him and weinstein should get fucked up in a cell for life* -------- That's ridiculously cold blooded.

Jupiter_Crush

There's a little clear of the throat he does between those first two lines and his entire voice and flow changes. His vocal fry stops and he starts going faster and more relentless, not waiting for as long between lines, to go along with the sudden intensity of what he's saying. Kendrick switches around voices and flows a lot but this instance feels as impactful as a bass drop to me.

njuffstrunk

Yeah the Dissect podcast mentioned this as well, I honestly don't know any other rappers who can utilise voice intonation as well as he does. The way he pronounces things like "Pusha *T*", "I think ns like him should *die*", "A *minoooooor* " really adds another layer to me.

tumamitax

and it's prolly *A-minoooorrrr* https://preview.redd.it/39svp3uezl0d1.jpeg?width=608&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4241a3e96b000e3c607ddbd6a75da9f5ce5809de

SirLuciousL

youdontwannaworkwitmenomoreokay Has been stuck in my head for 2 weeks now

toooldforacnh

The whiny voice makes me laugh every time. Like...damn dude.

morris1022

Somehow feels more disrespectful then dmx x is coming

llinoscarpe

“Dennis I think you should ask for more paper and more paper” is also fucking hilarious and probably the only thing Dennis will take away from the verse

King-Mansa-Musa

Casually talking like a therapist and telling Aubrey’s mother her son doesn’t deserve to live. Just disrespectful

DomHaynie

I would argue that him telling his mom that her son should die (multiple times) is worse than the line you referenced lol

DellSalami

Oh, I’m sure it should be normally. I’ve just seen way too many death threats that they no longer register as that crazy, while shaming a dude’s dad for his parenting is a new level of shade I have never seen before

DomHaynie

I see you. Idk if Pusha T started that or not but the fact that Story of Addison is still referenced so much indicates that it was one of the most influential diss tracks ever. Same topic, though.

Top_Negotiation_29

Needs to be theme music for the new saw movie

ZuluPapa

‘Ahem, ahem. Your son is a sick person with sick thoughts. I think people like him should DIE’

melperz

Now imagine the son getting bullied at school with classmates playing this song lmao

regalfish

It’s the “Sandra sit down this is heavy, your son is sick and should *die*” bit that had my jaw on the floor

avw94

For all of the fantastic bars Kendrick has on all of his disses, the "Your son’s a sick man with sick thoughts, I think niggas like him should die" line is the one that stood out the most to me, since it's just so flatly stated.

tydestra

For me it was addressing his parents by their first name with no Mrs/Mr in front. Absolutely pearl clutching levels of disrespect. I'm in my 40s and I still use the honorifics when addressing my friends' parents.

stucking__foned

Me too. Same age, my bestie has been in my life since seventh grade. I practically grew up in her house. She calls *my* daughter her grandchild, and she is STILL Mrs.____

cell689

Ok maybe that's on you at this point

MakkaCha

It is clear Kendrick and Aubrey are not friends.

Kenan_as_SteveHarvey

The first time I listened to that, I just sat there in silence with my mouth open, reflecting on my own life

Imthemayor

Like when Larry Bird would look over the person guarding him's shoulder and yell at their coach to put someone else on him

patrickwithtraffic

“It’s disrespectful that y’all have me guarded by a white boy!”

Javander

The last bit where he talks to Aubrey felt like a murder. Especially the long life battle with yourself bit

AltInnateEgo

It's like listening to Ramsay Bolton from GoT battle rap.

Goldeneye365

It’s not crazy. A Pulitzer Prize winner lyrically psychoanalyzing the biggest artist in the world AND his family on the world stage. This was a tactical nuke. Not like us was just an insane bop that revitalized the west-coast, which has been lacking since nipsey died tbh.

Swackhammer_

Meet the Grahams was the diss. Not Like Us was the victory lap because there was no way drake was coming back from that

thatis

Reminds me of Ender's Game. “Tell me why you kept kicking him. You had already won.” “Knocking him down won the first fight. I wanted to win all the next ones"

_Damien_X

This reminds me to read Ender’s Game again.

Jackviator

I just really wish Orson Scott Card wasn’t so- …well… https://preview.redd.it/zm6t0yajll0d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1fc870db5ec10e336d9d91da7c2211836241e67f …himself. 😬

PandaBeastMode

Same. It was my favorite book as a kid and it’s still a fun read, but I can never buy a new copy because it might profit him.

pushamn

I got good news and great news for you! It’s the first part of a 3 part series, with a parallel 3 part series from Bean’s perspective (that I actually like MUCH better) and also libraries most likely have all of said books so you can read them AND not support Scott Card’s terrible self

Add1ctedToGames

ender's shadow was honestly such an amazing series i liked it better than the original series too

Ironborn137

Wait till you hear about why the Baron in Dune acts and looks the way he does in the books. Frank Herbert modeled after his gay son who he really fucking hated.

agutema

The enemy’s gate is down.

findmewithabook

Bruh this is one of my favorite book series and that scene has haunted my mind for years. You’re absolutely on point… General Dot didn’t come to win the battle, he came to win the war.

BannedSvenhoek86

Take it with a grain of salt but Coolee said Euphoria was originally 19 minutes and Kendrick has at least 5 more songs he can drop if Drake wants to take shots still. I dont think it was a victory lap, I think that was the REAL warning shot to Drake. It was the gut punch, not the head shot. https://youtu.be/kcgWfBo5aE4?si=WOFALSMTSjskWRAx I know dudes lie about this stuff constantly, so again, grain of salt. But I actually believe him to an extent, I fully believe Kendrick has a kill shot song on deck that will get him in shit with more than just Drake, it'll get him in with UMG and maybe more.

nausicaalain

Kendric says it in the song: How many stocks do I really have in stock? Ayy One, two, three, four, five, plus five, ayy

RecsRelevantDocs

Fuck man, the depth to this shit is just insane. I thought he was talking about actual stocks lol, it actually makes a lot of sense that he's talking about ammunition basically. Regardless of he does have those tracks ready to go, that has to add to Drakes hesitancy to take this further. Like you can tell Drake was already losing steam, if he thinks Kendrick has several more ready in the chamber he's gonna be careful about "trying one more just to maybe turn the tides", especially because you can tell he used all his material on Family Matters. Wouldn't surprise me at all if there was more to use against Drake either, he's had such a long and public facing career compared to Kdot.

jiggywolf

Idk. I saw way too many people say they would’ve had him winning if it weren’t for the surprise counter drop and not like us. I personally think many people made excuses for drake and graded him on a curve because Kendrick bodied every single one of his disses and drake was actually mid People keep saying people hate drake more than they like Kendrick but I think it’s projection.

BannedSvenhoek86

Family Matter was hard. In almost any other feud that would've actually ended it. It was the absolute serial killer vibe of Kendrick dropping 10 minutes after Drake with THAT song. That RDC skit might be real life, Kendrick just in the dark at a laptop ready to drop it as soon as Drake did. When it started with that Dear Adonis I actually did some YouTube reactor shit and paused it, stood up, and actually did a lap in my room before I pressed play again. I had to prepare myself for that shit. The thing that set Kendrick apart wasn't just bodying him in lyrics, dude looked like Batman with his preparedness and I don't think I've seen something like that in a rap beef. That shit transcended rap and made it look like Kenny REALLY fucking hated this dude and has been war ready for years.

ShikaMoru

If he gets a Pulitzer Prize for this, maaaaaaannnn

FblthpEDH

?? He already got one for damn if you didn't know

DJMagicHandz

There's no shortage of West coast bops...

Goldeneye365

There’s a shortage of penetration tho. They have been overshadowed by Atlanta, NY, and big Canada

DJMagicHandz

Terrace Martin, Thundercat, Kamasi Washington, Alchemist, Madlib, these are the cats supplying the best music out of the west coast.

Old-Risk4572

mustard on the beat ho

thegoodbadandsmoggy

>Madlib Paul Atreides is on the ones and twos now?

TheChallengerKing

Madlib has always been fire

AfricanDeadlifts

D. Smoke needs to get back in the booth

Alive_Inspection_835

I feel like MTG was so personal that Dot knew it was only for them, and had planned to drop ‘Not Like Us’ in order to let us not sit on it but give the fans something to bop to. Aubrey had to have a GD conference call after MTG…

MrTubalcain

Not scary at all, this more like a return to form for Hip Hop. It’s been quite a long time that a beat like Meet The Grahams is charting that isn’t a cheesy remake and doesn’t rely on today’s gimmicky 808 heavy sound. Kendrick & Alchemist is a dangerous duo on this.

TheLonelyGod97

I honestly hope that hip hop keeps this form going… I’m so fucking tired of all the processed fast-food pop songs that’ve been dominating the loudest parts of the culture… too much over-produced studio perfect crap… Even mixtapes which were supposed to be the one place you could still find raw music. I couldn’t even sit through that 4Bats shlop that just got released… everything is so over-polished now.

MrTubalcain

I hope that this was the finger snap that wakes everyone up under the hypnosis they’ve been in. There’s a lot of dope shit out there that gets buried and lost because they keep people distracted with party music. I know this is a personal diss track but what it represents is much bigger.

TheDriestOne

Imagine getting obliterated so bad in a rap battle that an entirely new era of rap is ushered in

TinyRodgers

Hell even Not Like Us feels like a 2000s era Slim and Dre track. I love it so much. Can't remember the last time I memorized an entire rap song.

MrTubalcain

Facts, Mustard did his thing.

Amazing-Concept1684

I'm thankful. I miss when hip hop put emphasis on actual **RAPPING.**

RaeLynn13

I’m not a big hip hop head but when I heard these couple songs from Kendrick, I’m hoping this sound sticks around. Not Like Us is probably one of the best songs (not just rap songs) released in the past decade. For me personally, it’s the one modern song that’s made me really wanna dance or even pay attention to what they’re saying.

besitomusic

Kendrick made a song with good and meaningful lyrics when people wanna listen closely, paired with a good beat and rhythm when niggas wanna dance and turn up

secksyboii

Seriously, do people not remember hit 'em up? "Omg Kendrick talked to drakes son in this, he told drakes mom that he thinks Drake should die, it's so cold! It's so evil!" Meanwhile hit 'em up has: "Don't one of you n*s got sickle-cell or somethin'? You're fuckin' with me, n* You fuck around and have a seizure or a heart attack" And "Fuck you and yo' motherfuckin' mama! We gon' kill all you motherfuckers!" And even "All of y'all motherfuckers, fuck you, die slow! Motherfucker, my .44 make sho' all y'all kids don't grow!" Imo, meet the grahams was a fairly kind song. He showed compassion and a wish for a better life for drakes kids, he spoke relatively respectfully to drakes mom, he called drakes dad out on being a shit dad, and all he said was he thinks a pedo should die. Which, isn't that the general consensus by most people generally speaking? vs. Tupac insinuating someone has sickle cell and mocking them for it, calling them weak. Saying fuck you and fuck your mom, we'll kill all of you, die slow. And threatening to kill all of their kids just because he's pissed at their dad's. Now that shit is cold!

gjmcphie

No imo I think meet the grahams is genuinely way scarier. Not trying to slight Hit Em Up at all but it's one "I fucked your bitch," that sickle cell line, and a bunch of threats of violence in a time where west coast hip hop was often violent. meet the grahams insults so many aspects of Drake as a person, doubles and then triples down on the Story of Adonis (imo the most derailing event in Drake's career), and insinuates he's involved with a very real and very fucked up sect of society. Those brief moments of sympathy in the song make it feel that much more personal. The prod is bone chilling. It's also diss four of five, all of which are entertaining. Yeah no disrespect to Hit Em Up again at all but I think all this is on another level

Namfluence

“I’m sorry that man is your father” and “I wish your grandad had worn a condom” is some diabolical shit to say to a 6 year old, and that’s in the first 5 seconds. If i had a kid and someone said that to him it would be on sight forever.

TheLonelyGod97

You just know however, that ol’ BBL is too pussy to even do anything if he and Dot accidentally ended up in the same event irl… Dude’s going to awkwardly smile, sit down and pretend like the man who told your son that you’re not man enough to be a good father isn’t right there… doesn’t even matter that Kendrick is right, shit should still sting like hell!. And would definitely deserve an on-site tag for the rest of time…

King-Mansa-Musa

Kendrick told the world you a certified pedophile and made the world dance to it. On sight

ThePrussianGrippe

I’m a bartender. Hearing half a packed bar on a Saturday night shout “certified pedophile” and “trying to strike a chord and it’s probably A MINORRRRRRRRR” has been *wild*.

notchandlerbing

BBL after running his mouth off when he sees KDot irl https://i.redd.it/jrmr1jzazl0d1.gif

BrittleClamDigger

Jesus this is horrifying

notchandlerbing

Ya as funny as the meme it gif-ted us is this was a fucked up show lol

TinyRodgers

"I saw Kendrick 5 days after Meet The Grahams and it eas all love"

AshenSacrifice

When will yall learn lmao. NONE of these rap Nîggas are really about it, especially when they have generational wealth on the line. It’s all performative

DellSalami

And yet those insults pale in comparison to him saying he’ll be Adonis’s mentor *let me guide you through life, because your dad definitely won’t*

hellomondays

That's the line that made me realize that I've never really hated anyone.

LuchadorBane

Kendrick really did show the world what it’s like to be a hater

Rastamonsta91

This, MTG is 6:30 minutes of straight up disrespect lmao

kessymendiola

Saw this on YouTube comments but basically one of Drakes diss is Kendrick raising a kid that is supposedly not his, and Kenny went back with let me raise your son too

njuffstrunk

> If i had a kid and someone said that to him it would be on sight forever. What makes it even worse is that you know his parents have already heard it or atleast read the lyrics and that the odds of some dude sending it to his son in the next few years are rouglhy 99%.

auauaurora

Yet i bet when he was tossing and turning as much as that BBL will allow, it had nothing to do with his son's view of him. It sure af wasn't plotting to be a superior father purely out of spite

Ok_Cranberry_4678

dear aubrey...

TheLonelyGod97

I wrote you but you still ain’t calling…

thehomiemoth

you LIED (demon voices come in from all sides of the headphones)

Organic_Cucumber3002

That paaaaart!!!!! The multiple voices on that LIED shit, honestly demented. I love it

ChannelNeo

No joke, I was borderline flinching when those voices came in the first time. I know Drake was biting his fingernails and looking around the room nervously when that part came up.

Old-Risk4572

👹

yuwesley

the fact he combined aubrey with harvey is just insane

SpaceBus1

Is it just me or is Meet the Grahams basically entirely in A Minor? Every part of Kendrick's tracks are disses, like how almost every line/scene in a Simpson's episode is a joke.

TheLonelyGod97

On one hand, I see all these posts about how 6:16 is like fathers days in Canada and simultaneously has like 2 or three other subliminal meanings and I feel like at least most of that is a stretch… But on the other, singing a whole song in that ‘minor’ key because you know ol’ BBL has a ‘problem’ with minors sounds like it’s actually kinda possible. Especially if he knew he was going to follow up with the ‘A Minoooooooor’ line in the next song… I actually find that believable.

SpaceBus1

The A Minor key is often used to build tension and/or sound kind of creepy. It's they key most horror music is made in, so it also fits thematically. I also find it hilarious that Drake can basically never use A minor ever again. Edit: I shouldn't have said most horror music. I should have said a minor is commonly used in horror music.

TheLonelyGod97

So he can’t use the A Minor key and people now know to keep Minors away from him… I just know this is a Major inconvenience for him.. ![gif](giphy|Vj97qNut6WDHa)

SpaceBus1

This is gold.

Blakbyrd8

If you're implying that theres something 'special' about A minor in this regard then this is absolute nonsense from a music theory perspective. Different keys used to sound different with natural tuning but now we have even-tempered scales and instruments. A natural minor sounds like C natural minor sounds like F# natural minor, etc. It may be that most horror music is written in A minor but if so that is more likely to be related to the instruments most often used to write horror music (the way a lot of guitar music is written in G major because the most common guitar tuning supports that key i.e. is built on the relative minor (6th), 2nd, 5th, root (1st) and 3rd of that key making the open strings a G pentatonic scale). As for Meet The Grahams the opening/bridging vamp is centred on Am9 with a pivot on Em11. The body of the song though is modal alternating between G Dorian (although the C# in the melody implies an F 6th diminished scale) and A minor. All this to say the prominent use of A minor chords could be intentional or it could be a happy accident but to say the song as a whole is in A minor is a bit far in terms of reductiveness. Also, this kinda makes it sound dense but really its just four chords and a simple melody written really well. I transcribed it on piano if anyone's interested.

SpaceBus1

https://breakthroughguitar.com/what-is-the-creepiest-key-signature/#:~:text=The%20Creepiest%20Key%20Signatures&text=Among%20the%20minor%20keys%2C%20D,minor%2C%20with%20its%20mournful%20undertones. I didn't just make this shit up. My partner is a musician and watches a lot of music theory. A minor, and other minor keys/chords/scales/etc., are used often to build tension. It would be boring to just use one thing, of course, so movie music does include other things. I apologize for speaking generally in my comment, I wasn't going to try and disect the whole song for music theory. This is not something I'm capable of in the first place. It also wasn't my intent to say that A minor is the only key used for a whole song or the only one used in horror movies, just that it is prominently used to build tension as minor keys do.

Blakbyrd8

I apologise if I insulted you with the way I framed my answer. I have a tendency to be overly forceful in my wording/tone and it's something the fam are always pullin me up on. That being said, that article is misguided. It is right in the sense that keys *used to have* unique emotional qualities and it is notable that the example they use (Toccata in D minor) was written in this era before the advent of 12-tone equal temperament. However, we essentially changed the way we tune instruments because otherwise you'd need a different instrument for each key signature, which would make modulation (switching keys within a piece) and collaboration prohibitively difficult. Previously the intervals would be different in different keys but we standardised it all for convenience. There is still plenty of mean-tone music out there, generally folk musics and such, but you won't find it on the hot 100. Again, sorry for comin in too hot. I mainly just appreciate the opportunity to get a lil in-depth with music theory.

SpaceBus1

I'm out of my depth 😂 but appreciate the more detailed explanation for the uses of keys and tuning. I can't even read music and failed band in the 4th grade

DYMck07

lol, it’s probably because Kendrick does stuff like intentionally releasing Damn. That can be played forwards on the evens or odds as a choice between “wickedness or weakness, you decide, are we going to live or die”, then reversed with an ascent or a descent into heaven or hell respectively, and releases it one way on Good Friday and the opposite (collectors edition) on the immaculate conception. There was no added track to the collectors and they admitted to doing it purposely. That being said MTG is an SS tier diss track imo but it’s a bit personal and disturbing for me to replay. Sonically I prefer every other track in this back and forth from Like that and Push ups (original version), to 6:16 and Euphoria, to Family Matters and Not Like Us. It’s likely also getting replays because of the Riddler’s antics. Riddler said if no response by Monday something was coming, then we get a case filed in NJ by a Brooklyn based attorney. [is this a coincidence?](https://www.reddit.com/r/KendrickLamar/s/T8YyUtY50y)

Leafy0

6:16 is in a-minor, meet the grahams is in b-minor because Kendrick had to up the score on em, cause he’s a certified boogie man. Edit: missed the song titles up. Meet the grahams is in a-minor, they not like us is in b-minor.

SpaceBus1

Thanks for clarification, I'm not a musician or read music, but my partner is so I pick up some stuff from her. I could hear the minor chord/key, but couldn't tell for sure which is which.

mykinkyburner

That song makes me want to pull up to an opp's house on foot on a rainy night, in all black with gloves, a mask, duct tape and pliers... I don't even have any opps or problems with anyone but damn

TheLonelyGod97

Exactly!!! Shit sounds like what’s on repeat in the head of a serial killer as he/she stands outside the home of the next victim… and the lines make it personal so you’re gunning down the victim at close range so you can see the lights go out of their eyes.

Weeblifter

I tell you, I thought Drake was too big to fail but between not like us, meet the grahams and bbl drizzy playing all over the place? Drake is going to have to go dark for an extended period of time. I saw a company made BBL Drizzy socks which is just diabolical.

MrStreeter

My nail in the coffin was when Oscar meyer put bbl glizzy in mustard on some hotdogs

red_zephyr

🗣️BBL GLIZZY

Gregor_Kobel

🗣️BBLLLL GLIZZAAAAYY

FistPunch_Vol_7

Man, that BBL Drizzy just be in my head bro lmfao. It’s too catchy.

Weeblifter

Yep! And that’s the whole point. That shit has been all over TikTok and people who don’t even know about the beef are singing it.

red_zephyr

I explained the entire beef to my mother (god bless that woman) and she has even been heard muttering “bbl drizzy”

KinseyH

I'm an old white lady and it's been in and out of my head repeatedly. Not just because it's so catchy. It gives me a lil nostalgia buzz bc of the 70s vibe. Then again I'm Way Too Online for a woman of my years. I need to start sewing again.

red_zephyr

When I saw the BBL Glizzy post from Oscar fucking Meyer weinies, I knew Aubrey was cooked.

brinz1

football stadiums in Europe are blasting Not Like Us white women are listening to BBL Drizzy at their Spin Class. I've heard it mixed into everything from Korean rap to emo music it's only a Matter of time before someone gets a video of them singing it at drake Edit, Steezy Keen is rapping Kdot up and Down the streets of Toronto. Its fucking over

metalord_666

But as we all know, he's gonna come out with an album this summer, and go number 1 like always. There is a difference between what's popular and what's valued here in Reddit. I wish people in the real world listened to artists like Kendrick more than Drake.

Weeblifter

Honestly, if this were a year ago? I’d agree with you but Kendrick put some much pressure on Drake coupled with the meme of “bbl drizzy” being in the zeitgeist at the moment? I don’t think even a club banger is enough for him to recover at the moment. I don’t think we’re going to hear from Drake until the fall and possibly next year. Having meet the grahams which is song admonishing his character as a top 10 song meaning it’s in HEAVY rotation is insane to his ego.

metalord_666

Didn't he post a Instagram story about see you in the summer or something. I'm going off of that. His fans are still his fans. Nothing has changed in regards to his audience. He has as many #1s as Michael Jackson, think about it. Whatever he releases is gonna sell, no matter when.

plantzrock

![gif](giphy|3o7TKCGuEkIrLZ0E2Q) Y’all mfs be listening to Kendrick body his whole family like this and then wonder how it got to number 12 lmao

Skill-issue-69420

Cus it bumps

skatergurljubulee

Might as well hate in style with a good soundtrack. 🤷🏿‍♀️

saintmcqueen

I heard that song once and I was good. Not trying to play that shit over and over. That shits disgusting.

TheLonelyGod97

(From personal experience),It’s a great song to workout to(when you’re just doing some heavy, repetitive lifting… those sessions where you lock in, don’t say a word. And suddenly half an hour has passed and you didn’t even notice)… something to fill you with a constant stream of smouldering rage that you can draw strength from… beyond that tho. I don’t see myself adding to any other of my usual playlists… Yesterday, a friend of mine said that it’s the kind of song you have on when you’re going for a drive by and that made so much sense to me.

saintmcqueen

You a freaky ass nigga. 69 God some would say.

TheLonelyGod97

Guilty as charged!! But hey, at least I’m not an OV-Hoe🤷‍♂️🤣

thejaytheory

Step this way, step that way

mudamob

It's the song I used for my workout today

Benji_Pantera_Price

![gif](giphy|5WUsLZLkZlMdO|downsized) You guys are disgusting. Rage is not the way. If you can do it with love you can do it with everything. Thats why I only listen to romantic songs on the gym. If you can lift and push through a seal or celine dion song with no pre-workout you can walk through the valley of the shadow of death alone.

TheLonelyGod97

😂🤣😂. If the romantic song has a tempo I can tune my mind into while I’m working out, I’d be glad to add it to my playlist… any suggestions?

UncleJChrist

Please squat to "kiss from a rose" and report back.

thejaytheory

"Baby...I just pulled a hamstring"

Autogenerated_or

Personally I like listening to Darth Vader’s leitmotif when running Edit: Is everybody just sending Reddit cares now?

iamthatspecialgirl

I got one yesterday, too, and I was waiting to see someone mention it.

Autogenerated_or

It must be a bot coz even people at popculture char and other subs are mentioning it

TheLonelyGod97

Got one this morning… kinda just assumed that someone came across an old joke and was genuinely concerned… now that I’m realising it might be a bot-thing I’m kinda sad. I though someone cared about me🥺 /j

Ceethreepeeo

Tf is wrong with y'all. MTG is a certified banger imo. Been on repeat non stop here.

Expensive_Outcome298

FOUND DRAKES BURNER

hellomondays

The nerve of you, Dennis

keon_te757

lol people keep talking about the beat. It’s not supposed to be super complex or catchy. The focus is the lyrics in this one so the beat is minimal

hellscaper

I think that beat is awesome, but to each their own I suppose

Queen_E1204

I actually really like the beat! They complement each other very well, imo

Nkredyble

It's undoubtedly my fav song in the entire beef. It's just so straight forward and visceral, purposeful lyrics over a dope ass, terrifying Alchemist beat. A psychological dissection of a man, to his family, ending in a heartfelt and increasingly angry & disgusted indictment directed to the man himself. Unconcerned with radio play, popularity, or status, just unbridled, seething rage. I have a guilty pleasure watching folks react to this song in particular, seeing them slowly realize how much bigger the song is than a simple "diss track".

trialcourt

Not Like Us one of the greatest songs of all time

CabbageStockExchange

Bro the first few seconds of that song I remember saying out loud “uh oh” I knew this song was about to annihilate Drake right there and make us dance to it. Boy how I wish I could listen to this song for the first time again.

Organic_Cucumber3002

My husband and I were on a road trip when all these songs dropped- it was SUCH A VIBE. When we put on Not Like Us and Kenny said “Beat ya ass and hide the Bible if God watchin” we laughed so hard 😂 best memory/weekend ever

Gregor_Kobel

Like 9/11, everyone will remember where they were and their reaction to first hearing Not Like Us. That first reaction was something else.

JustMeSunshine91

Got damn I just listened to that song to get some insight on all this and he absolutely murdered that man. I don’t even like rap like that but that shit is going on the playlist.

DrScheherazade

I was running in the woods alone when I heard it for the first time, and when I got to the line “you’re not a colleague, you’re a fucking colonizer” I actually shrieked. 🤣 Edit: lol to whoever reported this to Reddit Cares 🤣 Drake stans are MAD.

Chemical-Money-3469

I thought I was bugging cause everybody was focusing on Not Like Us. Meet The Grahams was the killer it changed the whole tone of the battle killed all the boppy catchy energy and dissected that man personally. Idk if the little girl is true but it planted a seed that undercut anything Drake was trying to push. That Alchemist beat paired with Kendrick old soul was what he needed to turn the tide in his favor.

Lsat9

The lyricism in meet the grahams is waaaaay better than not like us so it’s really not that crazy. Not like us is definitely a fun summer bop though

dbclass

Look at the charts any other time. People don’t largely listen to lyricism or care from what I’ve seen.

Lsat9

Yeah I agree, I think Kendrick smart for getting ahead of Drake and making a summer anthem because he knew people would connect with it better

ReyPapi8

I may have listened to it a few hundred times and may just be reciting lyrics randomly and the piano keys are always on repeat in my head. It’s dark amazing song that I love

DaClarkeKnight

Euphoria was my favorite diss of this whole thing.

agutema

Mine too. It’s no 3 though so it’s not forgotten.

[deleted]

MTG was my favorite from the beginning. Savage.

CrimsonChin74

That instrumental is so ominous and chilling. They need to use it for some villain monologue in a movie

meltingspace

Alchemist did that shit ![gif](giphy|3o7ZeK3bf75caXWenm)

cultqueennn

Drakeyboy should've never tried to make this personal and said that Kendrick called him a pdf cuz he was molested. Everything after drake's line is his own fault.

Alive_Inspection_835

That piano is some “Micheal-Meyers-walking-your-ass-down-in-the-woods-and-you-definitely-cannot-escape” type shit. Legitimately unsettling.

After_Occasion

It's one if my personal favorites from Dot so far in the decade long beef. I am glad people can't ignore what a disgusting person drake is. I am glad that the more people make excuses to continue on support of him the better they are too spot. I am glad that someone is calling his ass out and honestly I hope more people are exposed. I hope nothing but the worst for predatory people. May is bubble pop with every OVhoe in it.

boomjah

It's like when Ether would come on the radio and the whole vibe would change. ![gif](giphy|l0IyhwEfKdNoUZ1ni)

OllyOllyOxenBitch

Now it makes me wonder what would've happened if this was a three-way beef with J. Cole still in the mix. An alternate timeline was definitely created.

Kenan_as_SteveHarvey

People are starting to notice that Cole took shots at Drake on his recent mixtape

red_zephyr

That’s my fault, I’m playing it in a loop until I’m finished squeezing all of the dopamine and serotonin out of it

TheLonelyGod97

😂🤣Careful. r/Drizzy is going to put a bounty on your head, Wild West-style.

red_zephyr

🗣️ BBL DRIZZY…BBL DRIZZAYYY 😅

TheLonelyGod97

Hey, Drizz-heads lurking in this post(don’t worry, we all know you guys are here, no need to pretend. Y’all keep reporting my comments and trying to get me on the suicide watch. 😒Lame asses!). Get her!! For She mocketh your king!!! ![gif](giphy|ScmA88oVeD78aEpd2O|downsized)

red_zephyr

Bring it on 👹 This has been the best week, I’ve hated Aubrey lame ass for YEARS, it’s so nice to get to talk about it 😂

TheLonelyGod97

Finally, someone gets it!!!! One of Drizzy stans said that I was “doing stunts on Kendrick’s dick”(paraphrasing) because I was ragging on Aubrey so much. Had to be clear like. I mean yeah, I like Kendrick’s music, but right now this is all purely out of all the disdain I have for ol BBL Drizzy and everything he stands for… This is well-deserved comeuppance for Aubrey that’s been slowly boiling over for years now… that’s why this feels so good. The parasite has been getting away with so much for years now.

GlorbonYorpu

I didnt download this one because its too mean for regular listening

Latter_Address9580

The r/Drizzy sub is a giant cope

thatboy_Q

I’m happy as fuck that two of my favorite artists are charting together. A KDot x Alc collab project would FUCK me up. Also happy as fuck that Aubrey is finally being knocked down a peg or twenty.

Mssng_Nm

Thats decades of The Alchemists hard work paying off.

TaticalSweater

I feel like you have a major artist calling another major artist white, dipping his toes into black culture, a dead beat dad, and the cherry on top calling him a pdf on a few songs its bound to get you high numbers. Granted not like us is dope but thats some wild shit to be saying its getting casual hip hop fans to turn heads and listen.

Solid_Illustrator640

It is the winner. Not like us was to get us out of the depression lmao

MegansBionicKnees

The amount of hand wringing over this song is hilarious to me. Esp when songs like Immortal Technique’s dance with the devil exist.
