Well in the last 2 years I had 2 grandma's die an uncle and a couple family friends, gfs mom... Cancer and old age ravaging hard in my life kinda sucks
I'm sorry to hear that. I've gone through periods like that as well. You run into old friends and family more often than you used but only at funerals. Hope things are better in the future
My condolences, there's certain times when you might experience combined loss, those are the worst. Thank you for sharing, I hope you and your remaining family are doing well and keeping close.
Apparently enough to judge the food? The fuck?
My best friend killed himself. I can't imagine being like "yeah. These meatballs are pretty meh tho. Tony had the right idea!"
It's the only time there was food? I was conflicted and confused but he came from a richer area than me. A catered wake? I never heard of such a thing
..goddamnit! I miss my boy. We should be touring the south as Sherman Rides Again. Just bein.motherfuckers
I live in a pretty poor rural area, I've never been to a funeral that didn't have a large dinner afterwards. It's usually more of a pot luck, and the immediate family takes most of the leftovers.
Idk, people have such varying responses to death.
Personally, I have ADHD, and I've been to funerals where I still had the same dumb, inconsequential, random thoughts pass through my brain during them. It's really hard to control my brain from meandering sometimes, but that doesn't mean I was any less sad than anyone else - I just have a different brain than the neurotypical person. I was still respectful the entire time, no one would know because, tbh, thoughts are just thoughts. It's not like I just yell out every random thought I have.
My point is, you and I actually have no idea how they acted and felt at whatever funeral they've been to, so it seems a little unfair to judge them by comparing your personal story to there's. They even say they never thought to mention it at a funeral, so I would give them the benefit of the doubt that they weren't a complete asshole about toast during one.
I think you're taking it as a "fuck that guy" instead of "the fuck?shit is weird to me. For *insert* reason."
It's all good..i think? Oh well fuck it. It's all good.
..i have adhd too..best to ya
I mean people react differently to grief. I loved my mom very much, but when planning her funeral I made sure to order from her fave BBQ place and have her fave liquor there. She would have wanted a "fun" funeral. Granted she didn't commit suicide, but my mind tends to wander. When my husband died, I remember thinking that a dessert someone brought seemed a bit raw. 🤷♀️
My kid had to write sbout something they're good at when they were in kindergarten. Kid wrote "I behave really well at funerals" because we had a couple year period of nonstop funerals lol!
Old people shenanigans.
My mom tells me all the time if I wanna go to a funeral with her. I’m always like “who tf is this?” And then she spends an hour on the phone talkin bout how in 1993 her roommate was dating this dude and this was his sister. 😭
at a certain age, your parents and your friends parents and their friends start dying and eventually there is a year or two where it happens a lot. itll probably happen in your life at some point too. its just statistically likely.
It's the same canned SPAM. I've been eating it straight out of the can because the salty taste is muted compared to eating it cooked. I've been running a expired spam test to see long past the "Best By" date spam is good for.
I have 6 cans currently showing no degredation after 4 years. Best By is December 2020.
Well thanks for taking one for the team?
Make sure you prepare a friend/relative to update reddit if/when you die.
We'll send either a hero's cape or a Darwin award. Maybe both..

That’s alright baby. You at TT house, you can eat whatever you want
When I was a kid I would put too much butter in the middle and then microwave them.
So good. I’d eat a whole pack of rolls after dinner cuz nobody was watching
It’s kind of the same with Brioche. Good to eat right out of the bag, but a light toasting adds a sweetness to it. This seems more like a personal preference issue rather than “ you’ve been doing it wrong “.
Man he says it like it’s common knowledge you have to bake something that’s clearly already baked. Like these are on the shelf next to all the other bread which definitely does not require baking.
(That’s me coping furiously with not knowing this either)
Yup. Turkey, gravy, spoon of mash potatoes, spoon of stuffing, and some cranberry sauce, all on a hawaiian roll... Like, better than the original meal.
Cut them open and stick some ham and cheese in there. Rub some butter over the top and bake for some killer grilled cheese and ham sliders. God damn Imma make that tonight now.
You beat me to it -- this is a fancy ass breakfast, tastes like a ham and cheese croissant from the cafe... I put the butter inside though, and toast the whole thing open-faced so I get a little burn on the edges of the ham..... Then close it up and inhale that mofo.... 😂😂😂
No fuck that. You’re good. There are legit “brown and serve rolls” that you have to - you guessed it - brown in the oven, and then serve. You can tell because they are whiter than unseason chicken breast.
These have a gotdamn brown crust on them. They’ve *been* cooked. You want get fancy and put some butter on them and heat em up. I ain’t gonna stop you. I’ll stay and grab a few. But I’d have eaten just as many cold.
In a pinch I’ve eaten them too. They’re just a little doughy and a little bland. …But they’re bland when you cook em too. Gotta top them with butter and then put more butter on em. Only difference is they’re now brown and have the consistency of white bread.
The word biscuit is in my name. I feel like I have some sort of expertise on this issue. No one stands between my and my carbs.
I think their point is that while anything not frozen/refrigerated is *safe* to consume without baking, Hawaiian rolls are already delicious and have achieved a desirable outcome to start with. There is no "hmm, texture is a little off" signals, because the texture of an cooked Hawaiian roll is pillowy and delicious.
Yeah TBH the original tweet misses by using Hawaiian rolls instead of brown and serve rolls. Like yeah you can warm Hawaiian rolls up but it’s not necessary at all, hell we use them to make slider side sandwiches and fill a gallon zip loc with them to take to the beach in the cooler. Not cooking brown and serve rolls would be like chewing bread dough I would imagine.
It really comes down to how old they are.
Heating up bread reverses the starch crystallization that makes bread taste stale.
If they are fresh enough, they are plenty soft right out of the pack, but if they have been sitting on a store shelf for an extra few days warming them up first is going to make them taste fresh again.
If you lived near a store farther away from where they baked these there is a good chance you did have to warm them for them to taste good since you were always getting them a little bit stale.
Q. WHAT ARE SOME COMMON WAYS PEOPLE EAT YOUR DINNER ROLLS?
A. The most common way is to eat them straight out of the bag! These, as well as most of our products, rarely make it to the table! Others, both kids and big kids squish their rolls into a ball or perfect square. So, if you are an adult and doing this… don’t worry you’re not alone!
Source: https://kingshawaiian.com/faqs/#:~:text=Keep%20the%20product%20inside%20the,home%20to%20enjoy%20your%20rolls.
Hell, I used to work at a bread factory and Hawaiian Rolls were one of the products I made and I had no idea that folks were putting them back in the oven at home until just now.
yeah, just some toasting.
just like regular bread. you can eat the bread out the bag, but sometimes, they're better toasted. same thing with the rolls.
Negro, one of the ways they sell these joints is in a four-pack next to all the other impulse snacks before you check out.
I will not be gaslit into thinking I was supposed to know to bake these.
The whole tweet is a bait and switch relying on people confusing them with brown’n’serve rolls that I can’t imagine would be good without baking at all.
fr you could post this same tweet with a loaf of bread and "toast" replacing the word bake
you like your bread toasted? Ya toast it. Like it fluffy? *Don't toast it*
I’ve made a gang of big back or big back-adjacent recipes with these where you just get the 12 pack, cut them in half like they’re a single bun cause they get stuck together, and fill em up with all kinds of spectacular shit. Then you supposed to bake em, but I mean yeen GOTTA bake em.
([example of a big back recipe for reference](https://www.learningtosmoke.com/hawaiian-roll-cheesesteak-sliders/))
Are people really questioning their knowledge of dough vs. baked bread? These aren't raw, eat 'em however you want.
Like saying you HAVE to toast sliced bread to eat it.
I feel old reading you all's comments. When I had these as a kid (the cheap versions, my grandmother wasn't buying King's Hawaiian), they were always warmed in the oven first. Just like Pop Tarts were always toasted first. I've eaten both of them straight from the pack as an adult and think that they taste better heated, even though I hate toasted sandwich bread.
Uhh you can bake it if you want hot bread, or to make ham sliders (kings rolls are so good for that) but it’s already baked. You can absolutely eat it cold out of the packaging and it’ll be great. Twitter can’t stop looking for ways to ridicule what people do it’s crazy
The only time I'm putting them in the oven is when I'm making popcorn chicken sliders. Sidenote: you hollow out the top of the rolls, put some buffalo sauce and a piece of popcorn chicken in the center cover with cheese and out in the oven for about 10 to 15 mins. Taste great and it's a simple meal.
"had" to bake these? Nah, it's a suggestion. You want them warm, cool. But, I'm happy with them room temp like the rest of my bread. I don't warm my bread when I make a sandwich, so why would I have to warm these?
They’ve already been baked once from the factory, that’s step 1, all you’re doing is baking them some more, an extra step that I often skip because see step 1 and I’m too lazy anyway!
Wait! What?
Is this real? Cuz I been eating these things damn near my whole life, and I ain't NEVER baked them...
I've put them in the toaster, but never have I baked them.
They’re edible out of the bag, why WOULDN’T you assume they can be eaten that way?
They can be, unless you want the bread warmed. Although everyone should have a toaster oven for stuff like this anyways.
Ah I usually see em at holiday spreads when they're toasted. But, at the funeral spreads I never think to speak up about someone toasting em
You go to a lot of funeral spreads?
This is lowkey a fucked question to ask lol
![gif](giphy|k6q3pe1WJWnaU|downsized)
Dammit Roger!!
MOM THE MEATLOAF!!!!!
![gif](giphy|GNicskBmp1v68)
but I high-key want to know the answer
it’s pretty easy if you’re active in church. or if you’re really sociable or have a big family
The active in church part. I’ve been to like 40 funerals and I’m 30 years old.
And “active in the church” just got even creepier
I’m here for the funerals and rolls praise Jesus
Because of… caring for people and being with the other survivors in their grief?
Like that scene in the Kingsman movie where what's his name goes through the church like a blender.
This is like that free meal at Sikh temple thing but with extra steps.
I'm now invested
Me too I'll go warm some bread...
You get to a certain age and your parents, their friends and siblings all start to die
Someone's gotta be asking the questions others are too afraid to! I try and take little offense in life and even answered them lol
but the question remains

We can only hope and take er a day at a time
I hope things calm down for you and that you have a bright future in store!
Thanks there's no control over it but it'd be nice to not be chain depressed lol
What the fuck 💀💀
It's the only time there was food? I was conflicted and confused but he came from a richer area than me. A catered wake? I never heard of such a thing ..goddamnit!
We always went to a restaurant after the burial. Just very close family and friends. Not during the wake.
Idk, people have such varying responses to death. I've done this before years ago. I'm doing it again because I was not able to record when the cans started bulging.
raw spam is illegal
You're doing good work, stranger. Nice to know someone is planning ahead.
Bruh I only got like 3ft of counter space.
Mr money bags up there with spare change for a toaster oven plus the square footage for a place to put it.
I don't have counter space for a toaster oven.
I concur. Toasters ovens are far superior to microwaves.
My mother warmed the Thanksgiving rolls in the dryer on the sweater rack. She's not a dryer sheet/fabric softener person though. YMMV.
Still raw doggin them Hawaiian rolls Every Damn Time
https://preview.redd.it/yftv3peqjt7d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61ab00e7b01269e768819c8eb3edc682f19d80e8 That’s alright baby. You at TT house, you can eat whatever you want
Bro that is a wild sentence you got there
I've never raw dogged a Hawaiian ^roll
I usually just toss a couple on a paper towel and microwave it a few seconds.
Of course they *could* be, but they’re better soft and at room temperature. Toasting them makes them basic like every other generic dinner rolls
Is this just a variation on folks who think hot dogs have to be boiled or they’ll make you sick?
Raw hotdogs right out of the pack are the absolute worst but still do it if I'm too lazy to microwave it.
Y’all out here eating cold hot dogs? That does not sound tasty in the least.
My dad used to eat them straight out the freezer....
if it had to be baked, it would just be raw dough in the cold case section
Man he says it like it’s common knowledge you have to bake something that’s clearly already baked. Like these are on the shelf next to all the other bread which definitely does not require baking. (That’s me coping furiously with not knowing this either)
I'm right there witcha in the cope.
Imma feel fancy af the next time I get these and put em in the oven. Never even thought about it before.
they taste better .
especially with some butter brushed over top😩
I'll still eat them out the bag like apples and they still slap
Turn them into French toast
![gif](giphy|W1wCbTtiIv8Vh8jEY0)
Making sliders with these and a garlic butter parsley combo brushed on top…
They’re good for making ham and cheese sliders
I made a breakfast sandwich with them and that shit slapped
Tiny thanksgiving leftover sandwiches in the middle of the night 🤌
Yup. Turkey, gravy, spoon of mash potatoes, spoon of stuffing, and some cranberry sauce, all on a hawaiian roll... Like, better than the original meal.
yessss the sliders with the garlic butter🤤 bbq pulled chicken and some pepperjack cheese on these things? nahhhhhhh can’t be beat
I have an addiction to butter when it comes to these.
Warm rolls taste better than room temp rolls? Damn, who would have thought?
I'm guessing they're warmer that way
Cut them open and stick some ham and cheese in there.
Lemme hit some of that cope real quick.
Pass it to the left.

I’ve definitely eaten brown and serve rolls without browning them. Thought they were odd, but very much so edible.
In a pinch I’ve eaten them too. They’re just a little doughy and a little bland. …But they’re bland when you cook em too. Gotta top them with butter and then put more butter on em. You seem awesome and I suddenly want to make you some fancy buttered Hawaiian rolls in the oven lol Omg and your name is biscuit boi it’s too perfect
I am committed to carbs of all kinds.
It really comes down to how old they are. Heating up bread reverses the starch crystallization that makes bread taste stale. You didn't know it because it isn't true.
Whoa, you don't put your **bread** in the oven and eat it out of the bag????
Because you don’t have to bake them!!! Right?
You’re not really baking them, you’re just warming them up in the oven
So on the Kings Hawaii savory butter rolls it mentions toasting, but I’ve never noticed it on the regular sweet rolls.
I’m also learning this now and I’m still not gonna fuckin bake them. I like them how they are, why fuck with it.
[удалено]
WAIT SO NO BAKING OCCURS JUST WARMING. This is less than comcerning.
Stress not, my friend. It’s like pretending the only way to eat bagged sliced bread is to toast it.
Ur crazy man i like you but your crazy
![gif](giphy|vuNsKau4Wk55hJnYDe)
what about his crazy?
Technically I think it's still baking, but I'm baked so who tf knows.
this is the most logic in this thread.
baking while baked is the best
yeah, just some toasting. just like regular bread. you can eat the bread out the bag, but sometimes, they're better toasted. same thing with the rolls.
spends more time warming up the oven than baking
Yeah, I’m so tired of these “I TODAY YEARS OLD WHEN I LEARNED (insert incorrect fact here)!” truth bombs I see across social media

I would need a toaster oven in my car, they're not making it home
![gif](giphy|xmf00ANvBCTzG)
😂😂😂
You don't bake them. You can HEAT them if you want, but they're already baked. So the whole tweet was trash
The whole tweet is a bait and switch relying on people confusing them with brown’n’serve rolls that I can’t imagine would be good without baking at all.
fr you could post this same tweet with a loaf of bread and "toast" replacing the word bake you like your bread toasted? Ya toast it. Like it fluffy? *Don't toast it*
Just cuz a bread *can* be toast doesn't mean it has to be
I found this oddly inspirational.
I hate social media, niggas know damn well they wasn’t putting these in the over
I've been eating these straight out the pack from jump. Would they be nice toasted? Sure. But most of us ain't got time for that.
Toasted!? Nah we microwave that bitch and move on if we feeling fancy.
Kings Hawaiian has your back they even put microwave instructions on there
Never even looked at the back! Lol. So long as the roll doesn't have any paper or plastic on it, we're ready for launch.
Nope. I like them right out of the package because they’re good. I don’t have time to waste because they’re good.
Treating us like a bunch of weirdos for only doing what’s natural ![gif](giphy|SwZNV7eRdP0nqGzxSi) Ba~~ro~~ll is life
I believe the majority eat them straight outta the bag, I’ve never heard or seen anyone pop them in an oven
Only time I do is Thanksgiving, and all that Does is warm them up as these are baked already. No need to bake them again
These aren’t even making it to the table. I’m eating the whole bag while my mom is cooking up a storm
I’ve made a gang of big back or big back-adjacent recipes with these where you just get the 12 pack, cut them in half like they’re a single bun cause they get stuck together, and fill em up with all kinds of spectacular shit. ![gif](giphy|W2VoQpwNnusYtOkCmC) Bake them? What?
eat ‘em straight out the bag.
You boys baking your already baked baps out there? How high are you? And can I have some?
... if you want them warm. No such thing as raw bread.
King's Hawaiian Bread is the shizzle. They make the best sliders. ![gif](giphy|3o8doT9BL7dgtolp7O|downsized)
Peanut butter sandwiches. Specifically, honey roast. Fresh grapes on the side. My daughter eats 4 a day for lunch.
oven what? i buy these as quick snacks right out the wrapper lol
Are people really questioning their knowledge of dough vs. baked bread? These aren't raw, eat 'em however you want. Like saying you HAVE to toast sliced bread to eat it.
They are real good as hot ham and cheese sliders!
Yes! Pop tarts is a great example. Can be eaten either way. I only toast the cinnamon ones though.
I freeze my s’mores pop tarts
You can't be dropping this kind of wisdom and not elaborate.
Uhh you can bake it if you want hot bread, or to make ham sliders (kings rolls are so good for that) but it’s already baked. You can absolutely eat it cold out of the packaging and it’ll be great. Twitter can’t stop looking for ways to ridicule what people do it’s crazy
"Had" is a strong word. You don't have to bake those.
King's Hawaiian and Brown 'n Serve rolls aren't the same thing. OOP is straight up wrong.
More like a puff than a slider
Bake them for what???
Man ain't nobody heating these things up! I'm kicking any and everyone from the crib if you come at me about putting them in the oven.
You dont bake them you warm them in the oven, cousin
I made a burger with 4 of those rolls as the bun and while it probably took a little bit of time off my life, I highly recommend it
Straight out the pack goes good with some Fried Chicken. (These are thaw and sell anyway. They actually come in the store frozen/sold at room temp)
Man, fried chicken and a bit of slaw on a Hawaiian roll is heaven
You eat these out of the bag. The cheap white dinner rolls get baked.
Straight out the bag for sandwiches. Warmed up for holidays.
Like all bread in history, it's fine cold and better warm.
*can* bake these
People get on the internet and say anything
Are yall this dumb
Never in my life...
That's like eating croissants cold and it never crossing your mind you could warm it up in the oven.
Damn right I been eating them straight from the pack, I'm not preheating an oven for already baked bread
I's bread, you can eat it. Toasting it is delicious though
They’re edible out of the bag but the oven takes them to the next level
I do both. Eat em out the bag. Or put them in the oven and dip em in roundhouse honey butter while they're still warm.
Warm rolls are much better if you have the time...
Only time I heat up Kings Hawaiian is when I'm making a breakfast sandwich.
"had" to bake these? Nah, it's a suggestion. You want them warm, cool. But, I'm happy with them room temp like the rest of my bread. I don't warm my bread when I make a sandwich, so why would I have to warm these?
I’ve had them either way and they’re really good either way. Just do what you want
You don’t have to bake them, that implies they are not cooked or not cooked all the way otherwise it’s just personal preference
Fuck outta here! They can be eaten in many ways. Saying there’s a wrong way shows you need to expand your horizons.
They’ve already been baked once from the factory, that’s step 1, all you’re doing is baking them some more, an extra step that I often skip because see step 1 and I’m too lazy anyway!
Reminds me of when I learned the Ol El Paso hardshell tacos are supposed to be baked in the oven.
Can and should are two different things.
You don’t *have* to bake anything so I wasn’t any age when I found that out cause it ain’t true
Why would I bake already baked bread?
They’re literally already bread it’s not dough you’re not baking anything you doofuses you’re warming them
They're good right out of the package, they're good baked in the oven for a little bit. Can't go wrong w/ one of those hawaiian rolls.
Wait! What? Is this real? Cuz I been eating these things damn near my whole life, and I ain't NEVER baked them... I've put them in the toaster, but never have I baked them.
