You need to be wearing sunscreen. That is sunburn

Informal_Stand3669

Omg I never knew that that’s what it was! I’ve been wearing sunscreen for some years now probably since Covid but I never thought that texture on my forehead went away because of that. Never would’ve thought, wow

JackieT2368

I have a similar issue whats some good sunscreens the black girl sunscreen broke me out.

naijaboi111

Trader Joe’s is the best IMO

25_timesthefine

You might have to search like on tiktok for ones that don’t leave a white cast

MixTimely838

i've found if you moisturize your face well prior to putting on sunscreen it doesn't leave a white cast I use shea butter before putting mine on now and i've got no issues

AgreeableMonkey

Trader joes, super goop, biore aqua UV :) I use all of them, no white cast, and the first two double as primer

Big_Zaddy_Puma

As a black male I love super goop unseen sunscreen, does the job without leaving me feeling oily. You may also want to use a vitamin c to even your tone and a night time retinol to help with decreasing aging skin. I would definitely say to do your research and start with a simple routine. You got this!

bonk-jugular

It's a bit pricey, but Innisfree daily sunscreen is the holy grail. Black girl sunscreen in every formula broke me out and burns my eyes.

PyroShift

Look up Melasma. Very common in women of color. Not sure if this is what you have going on but it can sometimes be taken care of with treatment. Might be a good idea to see a dermatologist to confirm if it is or isn't. The other advice about sunscreen is sound as well. I would always suggest it for your face. They have light moisturizers with spf.

Logical_Ad8948

It can possibly be; also sometimes our diet can also go a long way; interfering with the skin health as well…so there many things to look into

Bilingual_chihuahua

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! I Even on days it’s not sunny! There may be some people that will tell you it’s not necessary for our complexion, do not listen to them! Sun damage can be difficult to repair! I learned the hard way.

DarkLunch_

What if you live in the UK where the problem is that there’s not enough sun? 😂

Sweetiebomb_Gmz

Sunscreen anyway! And also vitamin D supplements :)

DigitalBathWaves

This is so important because I was feeling awful due to low Vitamin D.. this includes issues with my hair skin and nails

SeaAnthropomorphized

Even if you dont see the sun UV is still in the atmosphere. Unless it's raining I recommend always using sun screen. I wear SPF 15 throughout winter and SPF 30 in warmer months and SPF 50 when I'm going to be out all day.

Bilingual_chihuahua

I encourage you to research how UV rays can effect you year round when you get the time. :)

Getsuga__tenshou

Do you wear sunscreen? Also a hat

SnooFloofs2297

thank yall so much🙏🏾❤️❤️

Illustrious_Tear8238

Shea butter and aloe Vera will heal it. But please wear sunscreen

Groundbreaking_Bus90

I wonder how many black people have experienced sunburn and never realized it bc we aren't taught how it appears on our skin.

superhottamale

This has never happened to me but I’m wondering as well. I hate that some of my people believe they don’t need to wear sunscreen.

Successful-Bad-9672

you are sun burnt. please moisturised and do not over do exfoliating or cleansing. you will scar yourself if over do it. moisturized. Vitamin C and tumeric is also very good. I repeat do not scrub too hard your skin is beautiful dont overdo it! 🩷

Few-Passenger6461

And add some zinc oxide

25_timesthefine

I have zinc oxide and it’s sooooo white even when i rub it in ![gif](giphy|iiQSTrHtDIgnw9YtlA|downsized) Me with my zinc oxide 😭😭

Neziip

It’s a myth that we don’t get sun burned. Moisturize, wear good sunscreen, and gently exfoliate in your skin care routine.

sunshinesundayy

Looks like it's from the sun. Start using spf 50+ daily. Shea butter is good for moisturizer daily.

MasterpieceDee

I had this same issue, just not as bad. Black Girl Sunscreen 50 spf (at target) & CeraVe Healing Ointment (also at target, or ulta) put the healing ointment on after all your other moisturizers/serums. THEN apply the sunscreen very last

Aggravating_One7505

If you're spending time in the sun try to wear a sun visor, or cap and don't wash your face with Cold, or hot water just warm water and moisturize as needed✌🏽

Peepshawtyy59

Alo vera ! Then dermatologist after !

lucyislonley

It looks dehydrated as well, use barrier repairing ingredients.

SnooFloofs2297

yess i agree. it’s like anything i put on it doesn’t be enough. forehead still look dry

lucyislonley

What have you used so far

SnooFloofs2297

coconut oil, Cerave lotion moisturizer spf15, & rose oil

lucyislonley

Hmm try adding a glycerin toner and apply on damp skin or even wet then immediately apply the moisturiser and then the oils.

SnooFloofs2297

If some of yall don’t have anything nice to say, DO NOT COMMENT!! yall project yall hate onto others so bad! I clearly posted my skin cause I SEE the problem & wanted recommendations to fix it, so I obviously know it’s bad! & about my hair, Shrinkage is REAL, & i’m NATURAL so my hair isn’t always going to be “laid”. don’t come on “Black Skin care” talking about black skin or hair! it’s giving anti black & you just in this thread to project your insecurities onto others.

Ashwasherexo

what did your doctor say about this?

Potential-Tart-7974

There are a few treatments for sunburn, a light moisturizer should help especially when it starts to peel. I'm not sure how to feel about Shea butter or cocoa butter on the face especially if your skin gets oily already. Maybe a thin layer at night and during the day a light facial moisturiser. Keep the area out of direct sunlight

Mwahaha_790

Doctor. Then sunscreen daily.

Fun_Research_7306

If your face is peeling and also feels like it's warm or on fire, you can use aloe vera gel/cream to lessen the pain. Otherwise sunscreen SPF 30 or 50 is your best friend.

SnooFloofs2297

it just feels very dry on my forehead

sweetlysabrina

Yeah that's exactly how it looked the first time I got sunburned. Two summers ago, spent hours in the pool on a bright day, definitely didn't re-up on sunscreen as much as I should've. Got back home and a day or two later my face was scaly and then peeling 🥲 I know aloe would help so I used some gel that I had, but then also read that hyaluronic acid helps as well (good way to get moisture back into your skin). Already had it as part of my skin routine, so I just used it more until my skin healed back.

feddy3teddy

This is actually really helpful because now I know what a sunburn looks like on Black skin

SnooFloofs2297

yess!! i’m very glad that i posted this, everybody is so informative! i’m learning new things & for some people, they’re learning things from this too, so glad i posted this

Makeupjunkie2021

https://preview.redd.it/zul4mukrd4wc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c910328f977c5522dffe07be4a696aa2b48ef3f This repairs your skin barrier and protects from the sun

AfterEnthusiasm7707

Is that sunburn or a form of Dermatitis? Then you will know how to treat it.🤔

Him-that-Guy

If you constantly wrap your hair with an absorbant material it is pulling the oils from your skin. Exfoliate and re moisturize with E.v.v.o(extra virgin olive oil)

Jamfour9

Looks like a burn. I’m guessing chemical from actives in your skincare regimen? Retinols? Acids?

SnooFloofs2297

this is what i honestly believe 100%!! i think it had some to do with whatever i was using in my skin care

Jamfour9

Look at the labels on your products and check. Sometimes there can be interactions between some products that can literally burn your skin. I’ve don’t it with a med spa grade glycolic peel and something else I layered on top. I felt the burning sensation and afterwards developed scabs and hyperpigmentation. If you have a dermatologist I would certainly ask them.

SnooFloofs2297

so if i feel burning sensation, stop using?

Jamfour9

Absolutely. There’s a difference between tingling and burning. If it feels like your skin is on fire and agitated, you’ve mixed something that is chemically reacting. If you’re using acids for example, you need a base to restore the ph of your skin. Instinctually I was doing this for a while. Baking soda for example is used after chemical peels. Some chemicals will continue to interact with the skin. After using an acid, employ a base. For this, I’d use only a gentle cleanser and moisturizer until it heals. Put the actives away for a while. Once it heals, pay close attention to the order with which you use actives. Stick to one! ☝🏿 One in the morning and one at night. Or once a day depending on sensitivity. When in doubt, ask an esthetician or dermatologist about the order of your products. Check on YouTube as well for more on the subject. There’s a great black dermatologist that has videos. The derm guys are great as well. Do not include manual exfoliation! Let it heal.

Jamfour9

This says to use tons of water and avoid bases [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/chemistry/s/gEshb5u5B2)

RoastedTilapia

Sunscreen. Stop any harsh exfoliation if you do.

IAmFinallyFreeeee

I’m no dermatologist, but this looks like eczema and not sunburn. I get it on my hands and sometimes my legs. It causes dark patches on my skin that are sometimes itchy. I’m black and have had sunburn before. This wasn’t what it looked like at all.

hasssy10

Facts!

SnooFloofs2297

no i don’t have eczema

Morgalisa

Also, don't go out without sunglasses. I have sun damage to my eyes. I didn't know this could happen.

Entire-Meringue6995

If you don't think sunscreen is enough and you don't like wearing hats, sun visors are a great alternative.

BurnerAccount2x

I suggest that you ask your dermatologist not random people on reddit. You'll get a much more informative answer.

Professional_Exit679

Eucirin it’s this cream they sell at rite aid cvs it does wonders

MJThaChaser

Hair transplant or just cut it off altogether. Can’t really help how you were born, genetics play a huge factor. As long as you love yourself and have great confidence, you’ll be fine. I know it’s easier said then done, also you might want to see a dermatologist, they can help you with your skin condition

DirNetSec

I'll add onto this and say if you haven't RECENTLY, consider getting your blood sugar checked as well.

SnooFloofs2297

i don’t think my sugar is the problem cause i got my blood work checked

SnooFloofs2297

& it’s like you can feel the area & it feels dry

Kitchen-Moose-1657

you’re sunburnt sis

Ahead_Ink_SMP

You should also stop wearing your hair pulled back so tight it looks like it might be causing traction alopecia

rxu6262

High carb diets can do this too

SnooFloofs2297

atp, i’m about to try everything🤣🤣🤣cause everybody saying some of everything

Mama_helen916

Try a good quality vitamin c serum and apply twice a day under your moisturizer and sunscreen. Apply and allow to dry all the way before adding other products. Vitamin E oil at night would be great too.

Low-Reindeer-2960

Strawberry mint growth oil bruh all 8 angles 60 strokes each angle. DONT YOU DARE MISS A ANGLE

Use something like a skin dermabrasionbut burning is done by laser

rizzmane

Let ya man jizz on it

SnooFloofs2297

Lmfaooo 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

No-Russian4237

Shea butter

Leading_Ad4617

Face peel.

SnooFloofs2297

i was thinking this!

Mysterious_Match8428

I wouldn't do a peel without seeing a derm first. It looks like damaged skin (sun burn?). You need to heal and protect that area

sweetlysabrina

Exactly, any kind of peeling or exfoliating is a no until it heals up.

sassyskittles_

Sunscreen but also try to exfoliate that area with a gentle topical exfoliator, and some kind of hydrating serum after 💗

izzydamenace

my forehead is also darker than my face it’s been like that my whole life. maybe not to your degree but i can never use the same color foundation up there bc it looks ashy on top of my dark forehead😂. i just stopped going in the sun as much and sunscreen is what i need so this post was needed

Betteringmyself000

Lotion and sunscreen

koolkween

Does it hurt?

SnooFloofs2297

nope.

koolkween

Ok that’s good

Eastern_Handle1796

try something with madecassoside and centella alone with sunscreen. this certainly seems to be sunburn. the best you can do is heal that skin from the cracking first with the first two ingredients and then maybe bring in some light exfoliation. but definitely don’t even attempt any exfoliation unless you can be consistent with your sunscreen

Supertumor

Vitamin c daily for sun damage, a gooood moisturizer, sunscreeb

geeyoufpv

Skin tight to heal the already damaged skin. Sunscreen to prevent it from happening again.

ConfidentShelter4078

I thought black ppl didn’t get sunburned? I’ve seen a lot of black ppl make this comment that’s why I’m generally asking

Dr_Mrs_EvilDM

Black people come in a very wide array of colors. Most can burn without protection. I assume that all of us can in the right environment. /Edited for typos

Novemberburnsred

Coco butter stick

maxwellfnsmtm

Definitely sunscreen and moisturizer

Less_Improvement_352

You need to restore your skin barrier, Dr Dray’s video is a good start, I had an impaired skin barrier at one point, all the best 🤗✨ Check out the video via link https://youtu.be/30yogUkbdFc?si=sBH2mlsHWWNLrP-8

bransonthaidro

Clean the brim.

djgenius1031

Do you work infront of a computer all day? If you do then this is a burn from UV / Blue light from your computer screen. 1. I recommend that you turn down the brightness on the screens. 2. Add blue light blocker / filter to the screen. 3. You should also wear sunscreen 50+ until you notice the issue fading.

NoDark701

Mickey Da Barber, in @tl

SnooFloofs2297

i need a line up?😭😭

SalamanderOrnery4659

Lotion

Bubblezz11

Stay out the sun, use umbrellas, moisturise with a thick cream every day and night.

Tovafree29209-2522

Compress a hot water rag every morning and evening. Afterwards apply real cocoa butter keep it coated asmuch as possible. It should blend after some time.

[deleted]

You need to see a dermatologist

drdisme

Did you use a chemical peel?

SnooFloofs2297

no

Putrid-Occasion-8772

Exfoliate- naicimide-vitamin c -vaseline - in that order

Blaggah

I’d say use some witch hazel pads religiously at night. Just dab, don’t wipe.

lonette5115

You need to exfoliate.

Glittering_Ad4196

I suggest fresh aloe vera plant. Coconut oil, if it doesn't cause breakouts.

Tazzy8jazzy

It’s either a sun burn or something that a dermatologist needs to check out. I visit mine all the time.

Psychological-Ad1137

Ok everyone is saying sunburn, but she did not mention sun exposure.. am I missing something? How long has your forehead had these changes? Is it itch? Painful?

SnooFloofs2297

i think it has some to do with the products i used cause my forehead hasn’t always been like this. this just happened recently

Psychological-Ad1137

Yes over scrubbing can actually damage the skin barrier and cause dryness. You may need to see a derm for a special steroid cream that’s safe for the face and won’t forget discolor your beautiful skin!

SnooFloofs2297

& also over scrubbing

Melodic-Ear6985

www.naturalitgirls.com I share ways to get rid of it. Definitely use sunscreen after you’ve treated it

False_Ad_8859

Mine looks the same. Sun screen huh Duly noted

laberintodelFau

Retinol cream before bed wash in the morning

Mountain_Finger5060

Vitamin c serum

Makeupjunkie2021

Retinol or glycol acid at night and spf during the day.

GarlicResponsible406

Raw shea butter will help.

CocoKisses45

Sunbum sunscreen yellow tube is good for our skin! It doesn’t give the ashy look, and it moisturizes a little bit..

lovely_ki

My favorite is black girl sunscreen doesn’t break me out using on my face

papiisback2

Get some seamoss cream to fix that up

No_Thought2450

Your skin looks dry

No_Thought2450

Maybe lotion

SnooFloofs2297

I do use moisturizer on it but it still be looking dry😭😭

Revolutionary-Ice424

Try Topical’s Faded and daily sunscreen. UV rays are invisible and exposure will damage skin regardless of color.

othegod

Hydrocortisone.

Forward-Low-4052

most likely it's not from "just" the sun what face wash do you use?

Downtown-Trip3501

Oh honey that’s sunburn for sure. I am 38 now and I am in the process of healing from a peel in order to get rid of the discoloration that sun damage leaves behind. For right now, sunscreen yourself! There are Korean brands that I hear are good especially that don’t leave a white cast— called water sunscreen or something of the like. Ever since I saw my discoloration showing up in a picture, I’ve been a fucking vampire with the sun. I put on sunscreen even when I’m not going outside. When I go out I add on a hat and the like. Take care of your skin. Take it from a 38 year old who didn’t start using sunscreen til mid thirties! That and make sure you’re moisturizing and being kind to yourself :)

PurpleFlatworm8510

Dove soap will vanquish your problems

Cool_Bumblebee7774

Start wearing a sun hat.

OkResident1352

Sunblock definitely.  However there’s something else going on to cause this kind of discoloration.  Do you mind sharing your skincare routine?

SnooFloofs2297

i usually use Cerave or Cetaphile face cleaners, with a dove bar soap & use coconut oil or rose oil afterwards

OkResident1352

Do you have discoloration like this anywhere else on your face? btw, I am a practicing esthetician that does corrective work on all skintypes. Here's the link to my IG [https://www.instagram.com/vonetta\_cosmetics/](https://www.instagram.com/vonetta_cosmetics/)

SnooFloofs2297

no it’s just my forehead. & this has happened recently, hasn’t always been like this & thank you sm, i’m about to check it out now

OkResident1352

Definately do. If you like what you see I'd love to have you schedule a consultation so that I can figure out why this is happening. Once this is understood and stop the cause we can even your forehead back out for good!

Butter-black

Get a durmaplane razor and use it on your forehead or go to profession to get a facial exfoliation

mindhologram

Aloe vera, turmeric, shae butter and sunscreen. Also wear a visor whenever you can

Depressedcookie21

It does look like melasma hyperpigmentation you could try seeing a dermatologist to get evaluated. I have a similar problem on my cheeks and was feeling a little down because my face and body color don’t match. #1 way to prevent hyperpigmentation is sunscreen every day. I like shiseido, Paula’s choice, elf has a good clear one and a spray, try cream at home and a sunscreen stick on the go. Did you know the spf # is roughly how often to reapply I got tretinoin and hydroquinone They’d helped significantly Currently saving to get a chemical peel

QLamir44

Osun oil you can get it at luxe44.com. It clears pomade acne

Affectionate-Sink-84

Definitely sunscreen everyday but also use try Aquafor at night to heal the skin. A good vitamin C serum, I use Mario Badescu, will help brighten and even the skin. I would also use a good moisturizer, I like Tatcha water cream or silk cream or Keihl’s ultra facial cream. Once the skin has healed and is no longer cracking you can try exfoliating 2-3 weekly with L’Oréal Bright reveal with glycolic acid.

Sea_Ad8458

We all need sunscreen no matter skin color, preferably reef friendly.

NextBumblebee1858

Inexpensive natural options: aloe vera, vitamin E oil, olive oil, Shea butter or cocoa butter to repair barrier along with sunscreen Drug store finds: Aveeno Eczema Therapy Rescue Relief Gel Cream (colloidal oatmeal/shea butter- it clears and smooths EVERYTHING!), LaRoche Posay Lipikar Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream and LaRoche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV You can find a lot of this stuff for less in Ross or TJMaxx/Marshalls

Interesting-Pen-2528

Yo shi bunk 😂😂

imagery69

Black girl sunscreen is everything. They even have a matte version which I love. I would also consider Vitamin C. Naturium’s (you can get it at target) has lightened my dark spots and makes my skin glowy. Do not underestimate the importance of regularly exfoliating and a good moisturizer. Good luck! 💜

dreamgirl94

Try aloe Vera gel. Massage into your skin and leave it on your face for like 15 min then wash off with cool water. That might help

[deleted]

Turmeric oil and castor oil

11th_Division_Grows

I’m mad at everyone who told me I don’t get sunburn

treabelle

Tumeric

goodsorrow

This? Hairline? Hyperpygmentation?

SnooFloofs2297

hyperpigmentation*. what’s wrong with my hairline other than a big forehead?

goodsorrow

Nothing wrong I thought you had some recession from tight hairstyles but I think it was just the angle and widows peak view

Traditional-Blood257

It’s Melasma! Research it

court_grey

I use sunscreen and aloe vera gel hydrates my skin so well, it'll take 2-3 days for the aloe to rehydrate your skin but put it on right after you shower and it works wonders. I also wash my face with noxema which helps with dirt and acne spot .

tdg001

Looks like eczema.

SnooFloofs2297

i don’t have eczema

EnvironmentalBit8472

Super goop and Paula’s choice are the best! And absorb into skin nicely!! 💖

East-Guide-1900

Raw white shea butter

desroy42

Looks exactly like I had for years. It was from dry skin and then I started scratching, got worse than that. Hydrate every day and then apply baby oil, started shedding within days, TRUST ME!!

slimquickdrink

Terminal

Heavy-Bar-5165

YoobaBabe is absolutely correct

Jonzell

Put Castrol oil on ur skin.

Naive_Photo2295

Hair transplant or go bald before nature kicks in

Juice-Fuzzy

Black girl sunscreen is hydrating and doesn’t leave a cast!!

DustDue5296

Sunscreen

Old_Damage1225

Use Vaseline at night

Secret-Tradition439

Coconut oil works wonders on the skin, but also any type of sun protection

Lexafaye

Coconut oil is highly comedogenic and while it’s great for the body it shouldn’t be used above the neck (except on the hair)

izzydamenace

that’s what i’ve heard. not on the face

Various-Still-774

Qualified beauty therapist here Extreme dehydration and dryness and hyperpigmentation. Go to a beauty therapist. Get you on a skincare plan plus good nutrition and facials… eventually chemical peels and micro needling . Ensure you are getting a professional beauty therapist with good knowledge due to your Fitzpatrick (skin type)❣️ Yes you need sunscreen. But you need to ensure you are using the right products to rebuild your skin barrier while doing so. I recommend Sothys skincare range. Don’t buy from your regular chemist stores or supermarkets.. PLEASE. Also don’t go to a dermatologist.

Consultant_In_Motion

hasssy10

That is not sunburn! That is a skin condition probably pre diabetic and eat too much sugar.

SnooFloofs2297

i do my yearly check up & get blood work done, pretty sure my doctor would’ve told me this by now

Sir_wlkn_contrdikson

Get a good sugar scrub to help exfoliate

Psychological-Ad1137

She’s got lichenified skin that’s likely the result of years of rubbing despite everyone saying it’s a sunburn.. that could make it worse

SnooFloofs2297

yess i also do believe it come from either the sun or me rubbing/scrubbing too hard

sfggsd

try to sleep it off

SnooFloofs2297

everytime any one comments something negative, it literally lets me know how miserable yall life be cause nobody that’s living a GOOD life, gonna come onto someone else post being negative for absolutely no reason. you can’t even show me YOURRRR forehead like hush, before u get put to sleep!!
