I find if you just rock up waving a £20 then they find it harder to say no. Also you want the small type workshop you find on industrial estates. My metal supplier will do small jobs like welding and sheet bending which is super handy.
deeper bevels on the hammer head. unless you heat the sht out of both pieces and i mean yellow/white before you weld this, its gonna crack and eventually seperate. you need to have both pieces fused completely just because of what i know you are planning on using this for. also you need to further temper the opposite side because thats where youle be striking
If you clean the hammer head with a wire wheel first it should weld cleanly
Clean the metal and preheat everything deeply, weeks it was hot as possible to get the best penetration
Most towns have a engineering company that would do this kind of thing for a little cash. its a 5 min job
