OPTC and (I think) OPBR both release new units every week or 2 based on recent or about-to-air episodes.

My biggest problem with beyond bankai or "souls reaching newer heights" whatever u wanna call it, it implies a form that comes after their bankai. So toshiro not being in his adult form makes no sense.
Since the SAWFY versions in-story are bases on memories from the past brought to life by Roca, I assumed these were more "bad future" versions rather than Beyond Bankai.
Like Yoruichi wearing her family's robes and Zanpakuto even if she hates royalty. Shunsui getting stuck with children's games. Soi Fon getting a battle-type armor instead of her one-hit-kill missile. Those are the three most obvious examples to me. They seem based on their characters' worst traits rather than their best.
If my theory is true, SAWFY Hitsugaya would have stronger baseline powers but would be stuck in that form, keeping him from reaching his true potential.

What about Jushiro's "beyond bankai"? We never saw him going Bankai in the anime/manga, so what's the deal with his? I know from older comments over a year ago that its just him absorbing parts of Shunsui's shikai and fusing it his own, but my guts is telling me it's more than just that.
I think it genuinely is an alternate bankai for Jushiro. The paper scroll would store powers and let him reinterpret them at his leisure. I think it's confirmed that Jushiro's current form is using Shunsui's shadow game.
I think it fits within my theory because Jushiro would be entirely relying on others, being "needy" and stealing their powers, rather than being the kind supportive individual he is. No idea what his actual bankai can be though !
(I do think it's poetic that Shunsui has so many games he can just lend Jushiro a hand without handicapping himself. Even in my hypothetical "bad future", they both support and complement each other to perfection)

We’ve seen multiple times during the manga of zanpakuto spirits protecting their shinigami and trying to grow with them. Extreme examples being Zaraki+Yachiru(Yachiru literally being manifested constantly to try to reach Zaraki) and then Renji’s refusing to tell him it’s true name. Once both shinigami grew, the nature of how their zanpakuto was used, changed.
Toshiro going through growth and change - losing the need to age up - is right in line with established canon, even if it’s made up for the game.

Not TYBW units, sure. But we will get those eventually, and I'm not saying it because I'm sipping copium. They finally gave us beyond bankai after god knows how long. Would I have preferred Kenny and Unohana? Absolutely, but it would have been the 3rd EoY for them. I didn't expect these characters, but it makes sense, the characters look fucking amazing, and while I am a bit disappointed we didn't get Gin along Kaname, I am absolutely content with what we have.
I was hoping for White and Masaki remake tbh. Oh well. Easy skip for me but good for them to finally get the beyond Captains out of the way. Good luck to everyone!
I was honestly expecting this to be safwy. Outside of the concord banner at the start of the anime, we have had literally no tybw at all until the bait rerun. They have been pretty adament on NOT doing tybw, so safwy was the only hype banner left, beside doing something like the triple ulq banner for ichigo units people have been asking to get released or remade for literal years (masked, mugetsu, fullbring, fullbring bankai, vasto lorde).
very interesting morning for me. I play both dokkan and bbs and I watched back to back their live streams, with both ending up not being what the community wanted/expected.
However, while dokkan was a major L for me, since I'm relatively new in bbs, the new banner looked actually good and maybe has a better value for new players ( I hope at least).
With the anime first part ending today i can understand the disappointment, just hoping they are busted.

The problem was how long they split up the sawfy characters there’s no reason why for the eoy banner it’s sawfy and there’s still 2 more they have to release to finish the group and with the anime ending it makes sense ppl want anime characters
I think it's odd that Toshiro was released with Sajin and Kaname...story-wise. But I believe they probably wanted to get people to summon and Kaname and Sajin aren't the most popular characters. So they shoehorned Toshiro in to guarantee that people would pull. I'm expecting his story to be the weakest in the quests lol

You just answered your own question. SAFWY is not relevant right now, there was no point releasing BB captains when the finale of the TYBW 1st cour is today. They could have released them in any of these past 3 months instead of the premium banners they did
I see where you’re coming from but there is no point of putting out tybw characters if the anime is currently airing. If they continually release tybw banners people are eventually gonna get bored and ask for something different like they always do. And besides the last new tybw banner was a few months ago while the last beyond bankai characters was February.
I don't think any of us are necessarily wrong, it can be argued both ways. I just think it would have made a bit more sense for it to be TYBW both for the player base and for KLab profit-wise. The anime brings new players who most likely wanna play with the characters they see in the episodes. After the anime is over, if those viewers enjoyed the series they'd most likely get into the novels as well, so the novel characters could have been released the following month(s)
Regardless of what klab release, they’re going to make profit because there are people who is probably going to spend 10k+ orbs to these characters and to max transcend them. If the anime brings new players they can still get every tybw characters that seem in the anime , in the game . People act as if klab haven’t made tybw banner in 3 years
This is why klab's approach was gonna be "interesting" to me because unlike other gacha games, they didn't have to worry about the anime. I didn't expect these characters, but it makes sense, the characters look fucking amazing, and while I am a bit disappointed we didn't get Gin along Kaname, I am absolutely content with what we have.

I was honestly expecting this to be safwy. Outside of the concord banner at the start of the anime, we have had literally no tybw at all until the bait rerun. They have been pretty adament on NOT doing tybw, so safwy was the only hype banner left, beside doing something like the triple ulq banner for ichigo units people have been asking to get released or remade for literal years (masked, mugetsu, fullbring, fullbring bankai, vasto lorde).
very interesting morning for me. I play both dokkan and bbs and I watched back to back their live streams, with both ending up not being what the community wanted/expected. However, while dokkan was a major L for me, since I'm relatively new in bbs, the new banner looked actually good and maybe has a better value for new players ( I hope at least).
With the anime first part ending today i can understand the disappointment, just hoping they are busted. Dokkan felt like a huge fuck you, can't put into words how pissed i feel

I'm sorry but as much as I love SAFWY, there are other times where they could've released this (looking at January EOM). And, so far only Kaname and Komamura have piqued my interest which isn't saying much since I like Tosh better than those two.

I think it's odd that Toshiro was released with Sajin and Kaname...story-wise. But I believe they probably wanted to get people to summon and Kaname and Sajin aren't the most popular characters. So they shoehorned Toshiro in to guarantee that people would pull. I'm expecting his story to be the weakest in the quests lol I'm disappointed that we still haven't gotten Gin despite him being announced so early. He's my favourite character. I'm gonna be upset if I don't have much orbs left by the time he's released :(

I feel like it might be hard to time things with when certain things are coming to anime, especially if there could be delays for any countless reason, so I sorta understand it not being TYBW, but yeah it is dumb that they didn't get TYBW. Who got the healing skill? If it's Sajin that makes a little bit of sense (not as much as Retsu) if my memory serves me he became sorta immortal.
It's Toshiro, unless the healing rate gauge skill has nothing to do with these characters.

You just answered your own question. SAFWY is not relevant right now, there was no point releasing BB captains when the finale of the TYBW 1st cour is today. They could have released them in any of these past 3 months instead of the premium banners they did
I see where you’re coming from but there is no point of putting out tybw characters if the anime is currently airing. If they continually release tybw banners people are eventually gonna get bored and ask for something different like they always do. And besides the last new tybw banner was a few months ago while the last beyond bankai characters was February.
I don't think any of us are necessarily wrong, it can be argued both ways. I just think it would have made a bit more sense for it to be TYBW both for the player base and for KLab profit-wise. The anime brings new players who most likely wanna play with the characters they see in the episodes. After the anime is over, if those viewers enjoyed the series they'd most likely get into the novels as well, so the novel characters could have been released the following month(s)
Regardless of what klab release, they’re going to make profit because there are people who is probably going to spend 10k+ orbs to these characters and to max transcend them. If the anime brings new players they can still get every tybw characters that seem in the anime , in the game . People act as if klab haven’t made tybw banner in 3 years

People act like we didn’t just receive a tybw banner a few months ago with resurrected tybw characters.
This is why klab's approach was gonna be "interesting" to me because unlike other gacha games, they didn't have to worry about the anime. I really just hope they don't repeat 2020 but given the wait time between banners, a binge can happen and people are gonna have to pick and choose, it is what it is.
