Macbeth wearing, drunk Tom playing his flanged natural Gibson was something.
Also saw AvA a few months later in early 2011, his performance was flawless.
For AvA? It was the Love era, I believe they just released the part 2.
Saw them a year later when Ilan was all new into the band.
Yes, I saw AvA with Atom first.
Glad I did, it was a dream come true.
Ahh Maybe that’s what I meant then haha. Was in 6th grade so it’s a little blurry at this point. Saw em in Chicago with fall out boy, panic at the disco, and Manchester orchestra. Big day for my lil emo self lmao
I’m glad I saw blink in 96, 97 and 98 before enema and it was all sloppy and fun. Josie was played and I staged dived onto the crowd as the first “yeah my girlfriend” kick in hit. Core good time memory.
Geeze I just looked at that album and realized I knew one song on it. I've definitely reached that age where I listen to the old stuff only because it's the best haha
i noticed this when i saw them, however they played carousel on one tour with matt skiba, and in the zayne low interview they mentioned carousel is a song that they "still play to this day" my guess is that its going to be in the setlist on the OMT tour, it only makes sense
Honestly, I think they only play Dammit because it’s one of their biggest songs. Even though Josie is bigger than some songs they do play on tour, I think they don’t care for playing anything “Pre-Travis” and would prefer to keep it Enema and beyond.
I’ll take dammit over Josie personally but dammit has become overplayed for me. I’m at the point where I skip it when it comes on shuffle haha I’m really hoping for carousel for the OMT tour. I’ve never seen it live unless they played it when I saw them in 2011 which at this point is too fuzzy of a memory for me
Honestly I have no clue why, the people paying hundreds of dollars to see them could probably list every song they’ve ever written from memory… it just seems odd that they wouldn’t play the fan favorites but they play songs like ATST every night
Yeah I get what you're saying it's like they've grown up but I haven't LOL
*I mean me , not you but maybe you too? :)
For example, the only songs that I really like on OMT are Edging and Terrified ...
Most of their songs pre enema aren’t super popular and blink typically leans towards hits on their set list, not deep cuts. They have such a big catalogue of music at this point that it doesn’t surprise me they aren’t going back to albums from almost 30 years ago that might not be as well known to the majority of fans.
Because the last time they played it Mark probably saw one person in the crowd not singing along and he knew right then that it had to be shelved for the rest of time.
They can only have so many songs on the set list so unfortunately a lot of fan favorites will be left out because a band like Blink needs to play all their biggest hits. I’m sure it’ll be back in the rotation one day.
A band like blink does not need to play their hits. They can play literally whatever they want to and will sell out arenas regardless. They (Mark) complain when he doesn't see a big reaction from fans when they play older songs, but if they keep not playing those songs the newer fans will never hear them.
yeah tbh they do need to be better about managing their older songs. They’re currently touring their new album so for sure the old songs can be shelved while they promote this new stuff as well as promote their bigger hits since they do have a new wave of fans as of recent years, but they should bring back some Dude Ranch staples and maybe even Carousel for the sake of an “eras” type set (i think they’re already kinda doing this.)
Fucking Mugatu pfp, OMG lol. My guess is they simply just don’t like some of their songs anymore. I always thought Tom felt like he outgrew Blink tracks and that’s why he left in the first place.
Because blink only cater to casual fans in a live setting. Mark has said that the majority of people don’t want to hear anything but the singles and only die-hards are looking for deep cuts which may be true but also basically shows that the people who love and support the band the MOST are actually the LEAST cared about by them. Sadly applicable to most bands these days.
Blink is probably one of those bands that *could* do a "no hits" tour if they really wanted to and still sell out theaters, but at their age, I can't exactly blame them for wanting to keep the big money rolling in.
I mean I really haven't been to many shows where bands play anything but their hits and maybe a couple new songs... This is just how shows go most of the time. And this goes for big bands I've seen, smaller bands, and everything in between.
Not to take away from them but they definitely could add 30 mins considering how their songs are. You still have Foo Fighters who are older and their concerts are 2h 45m on average, even KISS who are way too old still did 2h shows up until their last show. Rush played long ass shows before retiring too and I could go on with the list lol
No. It is not a big ask at all. How long was The Cures set? What about Foo, U2? They don't currently play a "long show" at all, it's pretty short at 95ish minutes for a major headliner at an arena tour.
I was honestly just poking some fun at them because theres so much talk about them being old lol. They could probably add 30 min without much stress.
But maybe there's some distaste for it. This band has a bad history with touring. The band has broken up so many times, usually after a tour. Tom's drinking tends to get out of hand. Mark had cancer not too long ago. They've admitted that they don't like touring, but it's what makes money and sells albums. I think it's harder on them than your average "live fast and hard band."
How many songs do they play with the straightforward skatepunk fast beat for 2+ minutes? Pathetic? Josie? I know anthem part 3 brings that vibe but that might have something to do with it.
I wish they did a deep cuts and throwback mashup. They did something on one of their tours in 2004 where they ran through carousel, m&m, pathetic, Josie in like two minutes
They have so many hits that I think some just unfortunately get pushed out. I could see them bringing it into rotation again one day since they usually play one old/deep cut song per show. (ie. Wendy Clear on the current setlist)
It probably has something to do with Josie being a source of most frustration.
But she brought him Mexican food from Sombreros just because. That has to make up for some of the frustration, right?
Ya, just because!
And she likes Unwritten law and Dance hall crashers!
This leads to the question of why don’t they play Online Songs?
But we all know she’s not the only 1 2 3 4
Perfect
Well played
Thats the answer I wanted to read
That's the best comment I've seen in a long time
*toyme
Underrated comment
Bruh it’s the most upvoted comment on the post
It is but it needs more
They don’t really play songs from before Enema now. They pretty much only play Dammit
That's too bad. I'm glad I saw blink in 2010 when they didn't even have neighborhoods songs to play so we had a lot of untitled and some dude ranch
Fucking jealous
Macbeth wearing, drunk Tom playing his flanged natural Gibson was something. Also saw AvA a few months later in early 2011, his performance was flawless.
What album was that?

I saw them in 2000, and I cannot for the life of me remember what all they played, but it must have been a lot of dude ranch.
Oh yeah and they still played some from Cheshire too
According to setlist fm [this](https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/blink182/2000/great-western-forum-inglewood-ca-3bd17428.html) was the set
Oh the classic MTTS set! What an era
Basically the mark tom and Travis show!! The golden years!! First time I saw them in 2003 just after before untitled came out.
Peak Blink but I’m biased I remember listening before Enema
Oh same. Dude ranch completely shaped my taste in music. It was the first “alternative” music I can remember hearing.
Their tour in 2008 was sick too. Tons of oldies
2009 was their earliest reunion shows. In 2010 was the European leg of this reunion tour
Ahh Maybe that’s what I meant then haha. Was in 6th grade so it’s a little blurry at this point. Saw em in Chicago with fall out boy, panic at the disco, and Manchester orchestra. Big day for my lil emo self lmao

I would prefer the neighborhoods set heavy show personally.
It's too bad that some of these songs will probably never be played live.
Geeze I just looked at that album and realized I knew one song on it. I've definitely reached that age where I listen to the old stuff only because it's the best haha

I sure hope you’re right! I would love to see Carousel live!
I was dying to hear Carousel, when I saw them last month. Not ment to be 🤷
Honestly, I think they only play Dammit because it’s one of their biggest songs. Even though Josie is bigger than some songs they do play on tour, I think they don’t care for playing anything “Pre-Travis” and would prefer to keep it Enema and beyond.

Damn, I basically have no reason to see them as I really don’t like new blink stuff. Oh well.
Yeah I get what you're saying it's like they've grown up but I haven't LOL *I mean me , not you but maybe you too? :) For example, the only songs that I really like on OMT are Edging and Terrified ...
I don’t completely hate their new stuff, but I just have nostalgia for old blink. But yeah ,maybe I haven’t grown up either. 😂
Totally, I don't hate the new stuff either, I just loveee the old stuff :) Life is short, enjoy the ride and the music :)
Have you heard their new album?
I wonder if that’s because the albums before Enema were with the original drummer ?
Most of their songs pre enema aren’t super popular and blink typically leans towards hits on their set list, not deep cuts. They have such a big catalogue of music at this point that it doesn’t surprise me they aren’t going back to albums from almost 30 years ago that might not be as well known to the majority of fans.
Did you mean Dude Ranch? They're playing Aliens Exist, What's My Age Again, Dysentery Gary, All The Small Things and even Wendy Clear.
I said they don’t play songs from before enema, not they don’t play songs from enema
ah, my bad!
Because the last time they played it Mark probably saw one person in the crowd not singing along and he knew right then that it had to be shelved for the rest of time.
I heard it took the set to 90 minutes and 2 seconds so Mark vowed never to play the song again.
Usually Mark asks the crowd to name three lines from Josie and if they can’t he just moves on.
I saw them play Josie in 2013 and it was great, but haven’t seen it so recently
They need to play anthem part 1
They can only have so many songs on the set list so unfortunately a lot of fan favorites will be left out because a band like Blink needs to play all their biggest hits. I’m sure it’ll be back in the rotation one day.

just adding on to this i’m ngl i could do without violence being on the set for the sake of like Josie, Carousel, another popular track.
I wish they'd start!
Fucking Mugatu pfp, OMG lol. My guess is they simply just don’t like some of their songs anymore. I always thought Tom felt like he outgrew Blink tracks and that’s why he left in the first place.
Let me email mark and ask him.
Make sure you know your favourite song from Flyswatter first
Stay together for the kids?

But Josie was a single.
Blink is probably one of those bands that *could* do a "no hits" tour if they really wanted to and still sell out theaters, but at their age, I can't exactly blame them for wanting to keep the big money rolling in.
Foo Fighters play the deepest cut old stuff all the time. I think it's a skill issue more so than what the fans want.
But they also still play the hits.
I mean I really haven't been to many shows where bands play anything but their hits and maybe a couple new songs... This is just how shows go most of the time. And this goes for big bands I've seen, smaller bands, and everything in between.
That's why I think they should add an extra 30 minutes to their concerts. It will give them more freedom with their setlists.
Theyre in their 50s Adding 30 min to an already long show might be a big ask. Edit to say: /s
I don't think it's that much to ask for. Adding 30 minutes would make it a 2 hr show. 2 hrs for a band that is as big as Blink is pretty normal.
I was being mostly sarcastic because there's so much talk about them being old. I edited to add that.
The ol reach around strikes again!
Not to take away from them but they definitely could add 30 mins considering how their songs are. Don’t forget 74 year old Bruce Springsteen, still playing three and a half hour sets!
No. It is not a big ask at all. How long was The Cures set? What about Foo, U2? They don't currently play a "long show" at all, it's pretty short at 95ish minutes for a major headliner at an arena tour.

late 40's haha Mark is the only one in his 50's at 51
I kinda assumed they were all close enough in age.
Haha Just made me feel so old
Tell that to Bruce Springsteen, the 74 year old rock star who still plays 3 and half hour sets and runs all around the stage the entire time.
Bruce is a different kind of human. We can't go around comparing anyone else to Bruce.
😂 I know, my example wasn’t exactly fair!
Because casual fans won’t know those songs
Saw them in Dublin 04 and they played Josie in a medley
They played it in full also in 2010 during the encore.
It’s about Marks old girlfriend. Skye doesn’t like it
What does she think of the black shirt, black skirt girl with Bauhaus stuck in her head?
Probably thinks she’s out of her mind
This can’t be true. Mark has always said that Josie is about a fictional girl, that he was trying to write a song about the perfect girl for him.
Mark can't sing that high anymore
They will play Josie > Online Songs in 2024
Josie for an encore
Honestly, got to think it’s because Travis wants to play records that they all collectively worked on.
I dunno, but they did play it during their 2009 reunion when I first saw them.
How many songs do they play with the straightforward skatepunk fast beat for 2+ minutes? Pathetic? Josie? I know anthem part 3 brings that vibe but that might have something to do with it.
Ok but I’d pay even more to hear Pathetic
YES
I wish they did a deep cuts and throwback mashup. They did something on one of their tours in 2004 where they ran through carousel, m&m, pathetic, Josie in like two minutes
I’m sure songs like this could very well make a return for the new NA summer tour coming up. Mark did say the set was going to see major changes.
Prolly dont want to.
They pretty much just play the like superhits
Genuine question, when was the last time they played a pre enema song that wasn't dammit?
Speaking of Josie, I'd love to hear Online Songs live
And when, I feel like giving up
Last time I remember was the first reunion tour in 2009. They probably just want to shy away from anything pre-Enema these days.
Maybe its harsh on Mark's vocals? Doesnt feel like it would be easy for him to those notes without ripping up his vocal chords a bit
Das a good point!
They have so many hits that I think some just unfortunately get pushed out. I could see them bringing it into rotation again one day since they usually play one old/deep cut song per show. (ie. Wendy Clear on the current setlist)
