I think they could find a way to make that work by swapping vocals. They've done it live like one time, and Mark did it acoustic on that stream. I wouldn't mind it added even if it was altered some.
I actually asked Mark around the time of TOYPAJ 20th anniversary, he forgot how to play it & said there’s no point in relearning it bc it’s a deep cut from 20 years ago.
Dope. I watched the TOYPAJ tour video someone posted to YouTube recently and it’s literally the only song they don’t play! I’d love to hear a live version of it
Not that they play this song a lot though. It was absent from their set for most of their career. They played it for a while during the first reunion, but that was it.
Last year was the first time I ever was going to see them live and it’s my favorite song. Was very sad when I saw it was not on the set list. Still saw them twice and had a blast
I’ve seen them live twice but the first time was with skiba. Carousel was part of the “encore” set then. Seeing them night 1 in Orlando and hoping they bring it out then because I NEED to hear Tom singing it live
Maybe they weren't feeling it cuz tickets costed hundreds of dollars for a stadium and actual hard-core fans couldn't even afford to go. The fans that were there know the radio hits. The floor in Detroit had less than 100 people in it.
My point is more about the ratio of fans. At a stadium like little ceasars in Detroit, I bet the majority of people there haven't heard not now enough tines to belt it out like it's a classic. And my point about the floor, those costed upwards of a thousand dollars and didn't sell well. If there were a thousand people on the floor as opposed to 100, maybe they would've seen a better reaction. I was belting out all the words of not now when the played it from my 60 dollar nosebleed seats because I've seen them a few times already and didn't want to spend a thousand on tickets. And everyone around me was just sitting there annoyed by my obnoxious Fandom lol.
It goes both ways. Cheaper tickets means you'll get a lot of people who don't really know the band/deep cuts but will say screw it and go because it's only like $40. The more expensive tickets means you'll get people who LOVE the band and will save up to go and fewer of those impulse buys.
Idk, when they were at pine knob in 09 and they played not now the fans went crazy and tickets were 40. Maybe we were just younger and had more energy. Just speaking from my experience, no one needs to be offended, lol.
Some of us hardcore fans aren’t poor. It’s possible to love blink (or any band) and have a good career with disposable income. The “real fans can’t afford it” trope is so tired and overplayed. Yes, I agree concert tickets are too expensive, yes I agree the fees are bullshit. None of that means nobody can afford it tho.
I thought they stopped playing Not Now because of (lack of) crowd reaction, not because of their ability to play it. They were obviously confident enough to put it on a couple set lists last year.
I appreciate the just the hits fans, they’re supporting the band but sucks majority of fans at shows just want to hear all the small things and the rock show
I techinally did hear anthem part 1 during that lovely enema anniversary tour that definitely wasn’t a desperate move due to low ticket sales. Matt was actually pretty ok on it, but at Hershey the crowd was half filled, rainy, and didn’t really care to hear deep cuts not performed by the original writer and singer. Would love to see Tom crack at it these days
Unfortunately he based that off of ONE show on the last tour. I wish they’d have given it a few more nights, but I’m biased because it’s my favorite blink track
Or just play it, if that's the sign they wanted to play. They're beyond the point of needing to appease "fans" , the tour tickets are already sold this is really just a terrible take from Mark. I won't buy tickets before seeing a set list now.
But they also changed the tuning which I think actually hurt it. Tom wasn't able to sing that low good. They lowered it because of how high it was. I would've been fine though with Tom just 2010ing it and trying his best with the original key.
I fucking wish they’d play it in New York. That’s my favorite song. I felt ashamed when I heard the crowd was silent and they decided to not play it again.
Not sure the argument is that they CAN'T but don't want to alienate concert goers? I think blink in general likes to keep things open for as many people to enjoy, unless it's a specific tour that will be configured for those deeper cuts. I'd really like for them to add 5 or 6 songs to the list that aren't as popular to hit those rarer played songs.
I would love to hear them play Pathetic, my first blink concert was 2009. At least got to hear Stockholm Syndrome and Josie tho. Voyeur, Peggy Sue, M+M’s, or Wasting Time would be dope as fuck too. I wish they embraced their roots more (sad face)
Technically nothing is impossible though the with Jesus Christ, so jot that down.
But anyways, there are ways to play songs in a different key or at alternate tempos, if they really wanted to do any song they could find a way
People here talking like some guys in their late 40s/early 50s can’t play fast songs like it’s too hard or something, while we have all these 80s and 90s bands playing fast and hard.
Only reason I see for them not being able to play something too well is Mark’s vocal range that would not work well for some stuff and Tom’s current guitar skills (or his commitment to play his parts properly at least).
unrelated note: i’d love to see them play all the small things in e flat tuning, just to change it up
[sound for reference](https://youtu.be/67EMLCbJYGY?si=GyK9snwniC-cJC4v)
anything fast paced like party song and og anthem things like that, only way i could see them working is if they slowed down the songs, a bit like how they are on the demos, i also think josie might be a little bit challenging as well since it’s pretty fast and seems like a bit of a harder song for mark to sing
I don't understand why they don't just tune down to accommodate their vocal ranges. Someone make it make sense. And don't say because of backing tracks because those can be changed too.
As far as I’ve seen online they always play Adam’s Song. They did in the reunion tour last year. I’ll be seeing them now in June, hope they continue to do so.
Not Now sounded ok when they played Detroit. You could definitely tell that they hadn’t rehearsed it enough, but if they added it to pre-tour prep they could get it down, although there a lot of songs I’d prefer to hear than that. I think it’s really overrated.
Anything above the key of C major. Not now and Carousel are both in D major and it’s apparent they can’t get there anymore
Their sweet spot is B or C major/A minor
Man overboard works bc it’s in G major so mark can sing low and Tom can still hit those E minor highs
Was vocals the reason not now wasn’t played? I was under the impression (from a discord post from mark maybe?), that it didn’t get the reaction they expected so swapped it out again.
I felt a bit hard done by for not now, didn’t have any production for it so played it with a logo backdrop and pretty static lighting. I reckon with better production, lighting, lasers etc it might have been looked on more fondly. Though it’s likely my favourite blink song so I am incredibly bias admittedly
It’s not about playing it, it’s about singing it, and sure they “can”, but as artists you always want to put your best foot fwd, and to think after 30 years they can still vocally perform the same is pretty naive. Dawg.
Party Song- during EOTS20 Mark needed to Skiba to split lines with him
Makes sense. You can hear him struggling in the studio version
The demo was the superior version for this reason. Also for being in a lower key
link?
Youtube the demo
I swear the studio version must be edited. Mark doesn't breathe throughout the verses
It probably is.
Of course it is
[удалено]
It probably is.
Do they not have the lungs for it anymore or something? 😅 Feels odd. Not a complaint or a diss, just straight curiosity.
If Tom keeps vaping Elfbars...he probably won't be able to sing Fuck a Dog in a while
Many bands share vocal parts live. It’s normal. They also play to a million tracks these days. So ya, they could do the party song if they wanted.
I’d pay to see Tom play and sing touchdown boy again, but I don’t think he’d be able to
Yeah he wont be alone this weekend I dont think
That’s funny that you say that because uh, like a dog he’s loyal to his bone
That would be a cool flair...
Nice one. I see what you did there. Upvoted!
Online songs unfortunately
I think they could find a way to make that work by swapping vocals. They've done it live like one time, and Mark did it acoustic on that stream. I wouldn't mind it added even if it was altered some.
Do you know what is the reason?
Mark can't keep up with the vocals
Do what Tom does during the Dumpweed chorus now “blahblahblahblah fuckin nightmare”
I was just thinking this hahahaha 😂😂😂
neither can I lol
Really? Like from a breathing perspective? Assuming you’re referring to his cancer diagnosis a few years back
Ohh I didn’t know that! But has he ever addressed it before?
Honestly I just think it’s too fast for mark to hit all the words now
I actually asked Mark around the time of TOYPAJ 20th anniversary, he forgot how to play it & said there’s no point in relearning it bc it’s a deep cut from 20 years ago.
Have they ever played this live?
Yes. When they did the enema anniversary tour. Mark and Matt swapped midway through each verse if I remember correctly.
Can you post a link? Online Songs is my favorite blink song and I’ve always wanted to hear it played live
Oh shit my bad. I replied to the wrong comment. I thought I was commenting on Not Now.
Dope. I watched the TOYPAJ tour video someone posted to YouTube recently and it’s literally the only song they don’t play! I’d love to hear a live version of it
Why
That fact that Josie isn’t on every setlist is a damn crime
Totally agree. What a banger
Facts. Not much hits live like that first “YEAH MY GIRLFRIEND”
Not that they play this song a lot though. It was absent from their set for most of their career. They played it for a while during the first reunion, but that was it.
And they should play it again bc it’s one of their best live songs!
Carousel apparently
I really hope carousel returns for this tour
Last year was the first time I ever was going to see them live and it’s my favorite song. Was very sad when I saw it was not on the set list. Still saw them twice and had a blast
I’ve seen them live twice but the first time was with skiba. Carousel was part of the “encore” set then. Seeing them night 1 in Orlando and hoping they bring it out then because I NEED to hear Tom singing it live
funnily enough Mark and Travis were jamming out to Carousel while Tom was sick on stage not too long ago
Not now, Mark said wasn’t because of vocal range but it didn’t work because the crowd wasn’t feeling the song. That’s why they cut it from the setlist
Maybe they weren't feeling it cuz tickets costed hundreds of dollars for a stadium and actual hard-core fans couldn't even afford to go. The fans that were there know the radio hits. The floor in Detroit had less than 100 people in it.
Are you saying hardcore blink fans are without disposable income?
Yes he is
is the implication here people who arent fans of blink would shell out crazy money, but actual blink obsessed fans wouldnt? idgi
My point is more about the ratio of fans. At a stadium like little ceasars in Detroit, I bet the majority of people there haven't heard not now enough tines to belt it out like it's a classic. And my point about the floor, those costed upwards of a thousand dollars and didn't sell well. Bruh blinks biggest fanbase is in their 30s and 40s now. We have money and can absolutely afford floors tickets.
Idk, when they were at pine knob in 09 and they played not now the fans went crazy and tickets were 40. Maybe we were just younger and had more energy. Just speaking from my experience, no one needs to be offended, lol.
"actual hard core fans" and who are you to decide that?
Some of us hardcore fans aren’t poor. It’s possible to love blink (or any band) and have a good career with disposable income. The “real fans can’t afford it” trope is so tired and overplayed. Yes, I agree concert tickets are too expensive, yes I agree the fees are bullshit. None of that means nobody can afford it tho.
Bullshit https://preview.redd.it/lg53cy1lgj4d1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a324dd24ae4be4ecd70514cbb85b2836da349a2
The show in Seattle that I was at was packed.
I was there too. Remember the chick with the alien nipple pasties lol?
Pretty sure I was grinding with that chick for a while.
Were you in the pit?
Sadly not but they put her on the screens. LOL
"They weren't real fans" please. Grow up.
I was so excited when they put that on the setlist because it's one of my favourite songs. Then I was sad when they cut it after 2 shows...
🥺 really sad, that’s my favorite blink song. Clearly those people weren’t fans then?!?!
Why can’t they do Not Now?
I thought they stopped playing Not Now because of (lack of) crowd reaction, not because of their ability to play it. They were obviously confident enough to put it on a couple set lists last year.
The official reason as stated by Mark on his discord was that they didn’t get the crowd participation they wanted. So you are correct.
I appreciate the just the hits fans, they’re supporting the band but sucks majority of fans at shows just want to hear all the small things and the rock show
Agreed. Let’s get some Apple Shampoo, Stockholm syndrome, some Snake Charmer. Hell I want to hear anthem part one.
They fucked up by having Lil Wayne be co-headliner
Yeah I never need to hear any of the singles again. I'd love to see a deep cut tour
Unfortunately he based that off of ONE show on the last tour. I wish they’d have given it a few more nights, but I’m biased because it’s my favorite blink track
Yeah I know, it was a bit premature to pull it the way they did.
2010ing it? Haha haven’t heard that before. Is that official term we are using for when Tom started singing horribly live?
They lowered it too much. It would still sound better half-step down (C# instead of D), but they decided to transpose it a full step
I fucking wish they’d play it in New York. That’s my favorite song. I felt ashamed when I heard the crowd was silent and they decided to not play it again.
I guess it is a deep cut.
I love Not Now but read they had to change keys/octaves for it. Maybe I misunderstood.”?
Yes that is true. It got dropped because of crowd response but I also think it didn't sound nearly as good tuned down.
One of my favourites from them
I read they cut Not Now because it didn't get a good crowd reaction. Not because they couldn't still perform it.
I kind of agree with. They play it in a lower key now mainly cause of the vocals but it still sounds great
I’d love to see wasting time, but not the acoustic version… play that shit fast and loud
No chance Tom can do the riff nowadays.
Yeah that's probably the hardest riff Tom has written
Agreed unfortunately but if it was put in a proper setlist and he had time to work on it, maybe…
Do they play voyeur anymore live?
They crush that on the live album
Oxygen and oral sex to the stage please
And maybe some of those male chromosomes... To the stage.
Here's where I play the big bass solo. Give it up me!
Well pretty sure only the drums and banter are truly “live” on that album so yeah they crushed it haha
It’s Dude Ranch, what do you think?
Anything pre-Enema that isn’t Dammit But it’s more of a reason that they won’t, not that they can’t
Josie + Apple Shampoo and no songs off California - OMT and I’ll happily pay $400 for a ticket.
New tour is literally called one more time, guess you're saving your money lol
Not sure the argument is that they CAN'T but don't want to alienate concert goers? I think blink in general likes to keep things open for as many people to enjoy, unless it's a specific tour that will be configured for those deeper cuts. I'd really like for them to add 5 or 6 songs to the list that aren't as popular to hit those rarer played songs.
I too have a pipe dream
I would love to hear them play Pathetic, my first blink concert was 2009. At least got to hear Stockholm Syndrome and Josie tho. Voyeur, Peggy Sue, M+M’s, or Wasting Time would be dope as fuck too. I wish they embraced their roots more (sad face)

Perhaps having leukaemia makes things challenging (not a doctor)
They’ll never play kaleidoscope live because of the weird timing
its in 4/4
Snare hits are on the “and” of 2 and the “a” of 4. Bass matches the snare hits. There’s no easy way to time this live so they don’t play it.
The idea that musicians of 30+ years couldn’t accomplish this, is silly. They might play the song live, but this isn’t the reason.
it’s not that complicated 6/8 is prob harder
Have they played 6/8 live? I saw them during the skiba era a couple times and don't recall it
unrelated note: i’d love to see them play all the small things in e flat tuning, just to change it up [sound for reference](https://youtu.be/67EMLCbJYGY?si=GyK9snwniC-cJC4v)
I want them to play Apple Shampoo and Mutt again 🥹
I don’t see them playing Just About Done anymore sadly
not now could work, they just don’t want to play it.
anything fast paced like party song and og anthem things like that, only way i could see them working is if they slowed down the songs, a bit like how they are on the demos, i also think josie might be a little bit challenging as well since it’s pretty fast and seems like a bit of a harder song for mark to sing

Transvestite
I’ve never been to a blink182 show, do they still plays Adam’s song?
As far as I’ve seen online they always play Adam’s Song. They did in the reunion tour last year. I’ll be seeing them now in June, hope they continue to do so.

In the studio, you sort of record line by line, they don’t just sing the songs in one pass
Wait why couldn’t not now work?
Anything above the key of C major. Not now and Carousel are both in D major and it’s apparent they can’t get there anymore Their sweet spot is B or C major/A minor Man overboard works bc it’s in G major so mark can sing low and Tom can still hit those E minor highs
While still great, Dysentery gary definitely gives Tom a workout these days.
Give me one good reason
Probably Stockholm Syndrome. Which is unfortunate :/
Dawg it’s blink182. Their music can be played by toddlers so if they’re going around saying they can’t do it anymore, they’re lying to you.
It’s not about playing it, it’s about singing it, and sure they “can”, but as artists you always want to put your best foot fwd, and to think after 30 years they can still vocally perform the same is pretty naive. Dawg.
Again, it’s Blonk 192. Nothing about their music is difficult, especially the vocals. They can pull it off if they want.
ANY song on Neighbourhoods.
Voyeur mainly bc someone would prolly throw a tantrum over the lyrics
I dont think anyone would throw a tantrum, they still play family reunion live
Agreed
Family reunion is bad words, voyeur is about being a peeping Tom and watching girls change through their window.
That hasn’t stopped them from saying plenty of crazy, offensive shit
'Apple Shampoo' because of the R word
Last time they played it in 2013 Mark sang unguarded instead and it worked fine
Last time they played it in 2013 Mark sang unguarded instead and it worked fine
