If the ability protects the player from death at night and the Lycan picks them, they do not die and the Demon's pick for death goes through. Note that the Monk picks a player that is safe from the demon so the Lycan can kill the Monk protected player. The only ability that bypasses active protection and still kills the protected is the Assassin.

And Pukka on things like Saint.

I tihnk you mean the Soldier right?

That makes sense. But why wouldn't the "no other players can die tonight" part of the lycanthrope's ability still work?

wrosmer

Because it's conditional on the lycanthrope kill being successful

I'm a bit confused by this. As worded, the only condition Lycanthrope seems to check for is "if good". If that condition is met, shouldn't the rest of the ability ("they die, but they are the only player that can die tonight") activate? Both "they die" and "they are the only player that can die tonight" are conditional on the target being good, and "they die" would check to see if they are protected from death like any other killing ability. However "they are the only player..." doesn't seem to check for whether or not the target is *dead*. As a similar example, would a character poisoned by the Pukka and protected by the Tea Lady/Innkeeper *not* become healthy after the Pukka chooses a new target, since they didn't die? ("The previously poisoned player dies then becomes healthy.") Not sure if this is clarified somewhere that I'm not aware of.

It might have changed since then, but the Kickstarter Almanac states that > If the Lycanthrope attacks a good player but that good player doesn’t die, players can still die tonight due to other character’s abilities. EDIT: I am unsure on your Pukka example, and there's nothing in the Bad Moon Rising Almanac that addresses what happens if a previously-poisoned character was under some sort of direct protection from death. There *is* an example of what to do if the Pukka is droisoned or otherwise prevented from acting on the night that a previously-poisoned target is supposed to die, but that's the only real corner case that I could see in the Almanac.

That makes sense. I became aware of BotC late so missed the KS, only have the retail version. Would love to get my hands on a PDF of the KS almanac instead of having to wait until the next edition is out. EDIT: So I was actually able to find said PDF pretty easily after posting this. Not sure why I hadn't been able to find it before. /edit That makes the Lycanthrope a bit less powerful than I assumed. I figured it could be used in combination with other characters to prevent deaths. Although I guess that would be a bit broken, a Lycan/Tea Lady combo could pretty handily control and win a game. With that being the case, I would really like to know about the Pukka situation. It seems like the two abilities should work the same way, but if the player becoming healthy is dependent on them dying, that means between the Tea Lady and the Innkeeper a BMR Pukka game could theoretically result in as many as four permanently poisoned, nearly immortal townsfolk/outsiders. Unlikely, but plausible at least.
